I believe girl groups are bound by the concepts that their record labels want them to carry "because the public love wholesome images", but there's only so much girliness that one can handle. I've seen newer girl groups breaking out of that mould a little but Mamamoo was right at the opposite end from the start. Even till now I've never been a fan of girl groups (just a personal preference) but I've loved Mamamoo ever since I saw them. It's sad to hear how some Koreans view their sound as too mature but really they are one of the few undisputed vocal queens of kpop. Each member is unique and together they are confident af.
