I've followed mamamoo for almost a decade now. I was fortunate enough to enjoy a period where mamamoo was THE top group in Korea (which is ironic because youtubemoomoos love talking shit about kmoos and how they don't appreciate or deserve them, despite kmoos being the reason mamamoo exists today and didn't disband). I got to watch their popularity grow, i got to watch them at their happiest, and i got to feel pain as i saw the happy spark leave their eyes in later years. i got to watch them grow from these cutie pie rookies, into these gorgeous womanly powerhouse performers. Now with that said, there are thousands of groups who would KILL to have the success mamamoo once had. They aren't as underrated as moomoos like to say (I'm guilty of saying they are underrated too), but they definitely didn't get to enjoy the fame they DESERVED. However, not all bad things are 100% bad. when they came to America for their first US tour, they were afforded the peace of roaming the streets of American cities in peace, and got to truly relax as they traveled across the country. if they were as big as Blackpink or BTS, they would've been harassed the entire time. and watching solarsido, and wheeinthemood videos of the USA vlog, i found myself realizing im happy that they had enough fame to be universally recognized as a TOP TIER vocal group (there isnt a single reddit thread asking about vocal queens where mamamoo isnt one of the TOP comments consistently), while still being able to live a normal life and enjoy the outside world. Its hard sorting the emotions behind being a moomoo, but 10 years later, the only feeling i have left, is pride. im proud of mamamoo, and thats it
This! 💯 I first listened to my cousin randomly played Mamamoo songs and I figured this group might be my new fav GG after 2NE1 disbanded. A few months later, I came across the Immortal Songs where MAMAMOO sang Delilah. I straight away fell in love and only them.
Well, I don't know if they are the "most" underrated, but they are definitely underrated. Underrated because not enough people know them, love them despite their talents and personalities. I, for one, think that they are the "best" girl-group, period. Unfortunately, most k-pop fans either don't know much about them, or think MMM are not "pretty" enough, "cute" enough, etc. I respect other's opinions, but, I think if they get to know MMM more, a lot more will love them like us.

again though you say the title fits and then they might not be 'the most underrated'. Do you see what I mean? As I said in the video, I adore Mamamoo, that's not what I'm talking about here but having half a billion views on an MV, it's impossible for me to call that underrated. If you look at it like this, here in the UK, there are probably two groups I could say to a random person on the street and they'll know who I'm talking about (probably the groups you're thinking of), that being Blackpink and BTS. Here's the thing though, if I mentioned IU or Shinee or Girls Generation or any other massive groups or artists, no one over here knows them. So would you say by that logic, a title like "IU is the most underrated K-Pop artist" works as well? Of course it doesn't. But it's the same logic used here for Mamamoo. So if Mamamoo are the most underrated, so are some of the other massive K-Pop artists that aren't GLOBALLY known like an IU or a Shinee or an EXO. Also you have to look at it from the perspective of these groups like Purple Kiss or Pixy and many others. Averaging maybe 1-3 million views a video in comparison to Mamamoo ranging from 50 million to (again) half a BILLION views. That's not MOST underrated. I'm sorry, it's just not. Not saying Purple Kiss or Pixy are the most underrated either, there are most likely other artists/groups in Korea which are even lesser known. My main point is this: The title of the video is problematic. I appreciate the creator's comment I just read, but not everyone is going to read the comments on a video. So you have to go over the video, not at one point in the video is the 'most underrated' factor covered. As I've previously said, a title more fitting for this video would be "Why Mamamoo is an IMPORTANT K-Pop group." That still has impact for the views and it has substance to what the video (which again, is fantastic) is really about and it's 1000% true, Mamamoo ARE important for many many reasons as artists and as people. The video shows that brilliantly. Bottom Line: Amazing Video. Problematic Title. Just like with you all, just my opinion.
@@K-RossReacts I think my wording might have been wrong, even though they might not be the most underrated I'm okay with the title is what I meant 😁. I appreciate that. Don't get me wrong, if the title of the video was as it is, a good few years back. It would WORK ALOT more for me. Because what I've seen/heard from other Moomoos and their history, they were INSANELY underrated and undervalued as the supergroup they are, a few years back. I obviously think they should be worldwide known, but with all the other talented artists/groups I check out on the channel here. I could say the same for them. They are underrated in that sense. It's just that word 'Most' haha
I had the same reaction to the title, but this joins Purple Hawk's and Moo Yt's as a best guide. We know their sister group Purple Kiss is the most underrated.
It's a wonderful video yeah! I just wish it was titled "Why Mamamoo is an IMPORTANT K-Pop Group." That title is much more accurate to what the video is talking about imo
Mamamoo is the best group in vocal technique. Even their rapper improved a lot in her vocal technique. Recently k-pop fans "criticize" new girl groups that lack in vocal but rarely mention Mamamoo. They are hypocrite. If they love high standard vocal technique, they should love Mamamoo. They "criticize" some new groups because they jealous that the new groups more success than their favorite.
My ult group is Dreamcatcher. Their highest viewed MV is 70 million. Let’s not get into numbers here by saying someone has only one 500 MILLION+ viewed MV. There’s groups out there that don’t have one video that has 1 million views. We can go on and on haha. I love Mamamoo. They are underrated in the sense they aren’t known globally in the mainstream like Blackpink and BTS but I’m sorry, I’m not going to say that only having one 500 MILLION viewed video is a bad thing. They not only that but multiple videos over 100million. These are just views, let alone the massive concerts they’ve done over the years to big venues. I’m sorry, it may be because I check out so many groups/artists on here but Mamamoo (and let me say again, I ADORE THEM) aren’t close to the most underrated.
Underrated/Underappreciated especially coming from a small company... only 3 or 4 people at their first concert, and they were friends. Didn't get their first "win"(I think award shows are a joke BTW, the Korean ones being very Sus) until 2yrs into their career, despite their extreme Talent. They were(and still are) often snubbed by the industry... They are Emulated by many(no issues with that actually), but often don't get the reconition as being the first. ie pole dancing LoL. Debut "older" than the norm(Solar at an ANCIENT 23 lol), and didn't do cutesy or act in the "accepted" manner. Especially for girl groups. These are some of reasons that they have been(and often still are) "dismissed", looked down on, or overlooked by many. The wording of the title isn't really something to get as hung up on as you appear to... I EASILY understood that it had Much more to do with Reconition, and being given the cedit they are due. And actually that doesn't even really properly discribe what is being discussed, so I don't know what Title could describe this video.
EASILY? It’s the TITLE of the video. The title of the video should be in essence at least what the video is, for the majority, about. How can you say ‘easily’? And you dodged the word ‘Most’ for a reason because if you are aware of many other groups with alot of talent but not half the success, you know that ‘most’ is problematic. Also you mentioned the success they’ve had as well saying it took years. As I’ve said plenty of times at this stage if this was made years before, it’s a good title. I’m sorry, I’m not going to beat myself up for this. ‘Most underrated’ for a well known group is a problematic title. Also you said that the video doesn’t go into what you just described that it’s about? Isn’t that a problematic title. I’ll say until the day I die, with what this video is about “Why Mamamoo is an IMPORTANT K-Pop group.” is a FAR more accurate title for what the video is about, it’s a lot less problematic, and it would still do well as ‘click-bait’ which is why the the original title was chosen. I’ll never move on this. You can see in the video, I really enjoyed the video. Mamamoo are one of my favourite groups I check out on this channel. I’m not hung up on the title, but I’m not going to naively agree with the title (even if it is solely done for clickbait reasons, which btw, isn’t a wonderful thing if we want to get into it.) I’m a very fair person, even if I love an artist, I treat everything case by case. Can’t we all just agree it’s a really well done video? If people reading this are waiting for me to say it’s a great title or even an accurate one, that day will never come I’m afraid. The title without context doesn’t work, and I don’t think the video goes into ‘Why Mamamoo are the Most Underrated Kpop Group’ whatsoever. So literally by definition, a problematic title for the content of the video. This is the last time I’ll reply to a comment like this. I’m going in circles and it’s getting really annoying honestly which has never happened for any Mamamoo content before. Which is super frustrating again because… Bottom Line: Great Video. Problematic Title.
I will be honest and admit that I too have through Mamamoo was underrated. However, after being going to their concert last year and seeing the love us fans have for them I also agree with you that they are not underrated. Yes, out west you don't hear them mentioned as much as other groups but, Mamamoo is extremely respected in Korea as a Top Tier Vocal group. They might not get over 100 million views in under 24hrs but the views they do get are no joke either. I really enjoyed your reaction and I really like this Mamamoo fan made content.😊😊😊😊Mamamoo is not underrated, just, maybe not as known as others in some parts of the world. However, they still are very much appreciated and have a lot of fans worldwide, as a group, and as soloists. I have to still work on changing my mindset because sometimes that 'underrated mentality tries to sneak by into my thoughts. Lol.... OT4❤
@@K-RossReacts yes, maybe their songs are not too everyone's taste but there is no denying the vocal talent these 4 women have. On a side note I'd also like to address something mentioned in this fan made content, as well as others, and one which I have also sided with, though have changed, during my 5+ years as a kpop fan. What is it? It is the zz jbiz
I don’t have the issue with the title cause a lot of moomoo will think they are not as famous as others big company group. With their talents, they still not as famous as others. From the concert sold out or not, or where the venue is, you will know. Recent year, their concert is not sold out and the venue only hold up to 2500 people. With a lot more newer generation, their fame already going down. Nowadays they did not win in any music show. But at least, their moo moo will stick with them forever, this is what the moo moo promise them “Never Letting Go”. Of course it is underrated as you only recently aware of them, if compare to others group like Twice, Blackpink, they’re known internationally in the earlier years of their debut. When mamamoo debut, they are only 3 fans in the seat which is 2 being moonbyul sis and 1 being wheein friend. Cause I also recently during WAW area then know them, which I hope I can know them way before and I didn’t miss their concert.
I hadn't heard of Twice and hadn't heard any Blackpink before I started this channel. I'm sorry, I won't move on this haha. Underrated? Yes, as lots of K-Pop artists/groups are. Most underrated? DEFINITELY not. I say this as someone who checks alot of K-Pop on this channel from groups/artists which differ in popularity and success. Again I adore this group, one of my favourites on this channel. But they are underrated...with context, not without it.
Don't think that I agree with their fame going down.... MAMAMOO(in 2023) joined the ranks of Destiny's Child, The Spice Girls, and TLC as the ONLY girl groups to sell over 70,000 tickets on their FIRST tour in the USA. This makes MAMAMOO the ONLY girl group to achieve this milestone AFTER a 21-year gap. AND the ONLY Non-English speaking girl group to accomplish such a feat. BlackPink didn't even do that on their FIRST US tour.
p.s. Have I recommended Seomoon Tak yet? If you like discovering underrated, underappreciated singers/groups, you should definitely check her out. She trained in New York and therefore has a distinctly American style (IMO), so that might account for her limited popularity in Korea. She had one or two hits in the early 2000s, and is a popular invitee to live Korean TV shows, but her latest releases get almost no views at all, despite being really good. A good place to start is her version of Ailee's U&I on MNET's 100. The singer was hidden from view for the first 100 seconds.
I need to preface this comment by saying, I love Mamamoo. They are my ult group and I also am OT4. I agree that they are not underrated. I understand where the feeling comes from because Moomoos constantly have a few groups with less talent sucking up the notoriety and amassing views in the billions. I would say there are some overrated groups, but if the mass audience likes them, good for them. Talent does not equal popularity. There are also a few groups I was a big fan of, who then hit it big and their whole style changed. I loved Fleetwood Mac as they were originally with the blues guitar riffs. The Fleetwood Mac everybody knows, not so much.
Obviously "underrated" is a very subjective term. Plus it also depends on the context. I agree in some ways MMM may be underrated. There are arguably some more popular groups in KPop that are not nearly as gifted across the entire group as Mamamoo. That don't have as many high quality songs in their discography as MMM. But yet they have higher sales, higher YT views, and because of a larger fan base can achieve more wins. So in that way I guess the title doesn't bother me so much. BTW anyone who knows, knows that Jji-C is actually the Most Underrated group in KPop. Not quite as talented as Mamamoo as a whole, but I'd say 3/4 as much, and yet they haven't charted a single song.
Great points all around! It’s the ‘MOST’ that bothers me with the title. It’s very subjective, however, for lesser known artists like Jij-C you mentioned, seeing already massive groups/artists get that title. I just feel for those artists that can’t get even moderate success and yet have a lot of talent. I wish this video didn’t have this title btw because I want to stop talking about the title of the video but I have to call it like I see it and I won’t take back that it’s a great video with a problematic title.
I think "underrated" is the wrong term. They are HUGE stars overseas. The only real reason they don't get play and attention in the west is that they are not singing in English. (as much playing and fan based appearances they make in the west might make you think otherwise). And that is also part of a reason people can easily dismiss THIS level of talent. They completely REFUSE to be what anyone else wants them to be. THEY ARE WHO THEY ARE! THEY ARE WHAT THEY ARE! Maybe more than any other group, they are their own creation. And they are DELIBERATELY in your face about it.
When I first saw the title of the video, I'll be like nahh..the title is not it. As much as I love Mamamoo and they're one of my ults, saying they're THE most underrated is really putting me off ngl. Sorry I'm going to be brutally honest to my own fandom here, I feel like a lot of moos especially the international moos have fallen under victim syndrome where they just victimize themselves and the girls for no reason. Just because Mamamoo is not as big as BTS or Blackpink globally, it doesn't mean that they're underrated. But hey then again, fans in general just love wildly throwing these word around in social media over and over again. It loses its meaning now. Mamamoo has huge fanbase and they're very well-known and respected by their seniors in S.Korea. Like cmon dude "MOST UNDERRATED" that's a bit too much and once again I'm sorry but moos love to exaggerate things sometimes. Underappreciated? Yeah sure. Heck even if it's only underrated that's also not 100% true. They used to but definitely not anymore. Many kpop groups would kill to have Mamamoo's fame, success, and popularity. Gotta say it's an amazing video but the title itself is problematic. I know I know that you all guys love Mamamoo so much but seriously though, fans really need to stop having this sort of mentality.
@@K-RossReacts Coming back again to say it's really a breath of fresh air to see someone like you in the fandom. At this point, these overprotective moomoos are just intentionally being obtuse here. You'll never gonna change their minds because in their perspective Mamamoo will always be the most underrated groups in the kpop history. They've been echo chambering and feeding off each other with the same narratives "Oh look Mamamoo is sooo underrated", "their company is so evil that's why they're flop and their views didn't reach those billion views", "Mamamoo is the biggest victim" yada yada. And they keep repeating this to the point it somehow becomes their truth and if something didn't align with their belief they tried to twist it into a certain way so it can fit to their own agenda and that's unfortunately what happened to those fans. You also gave a perfect example with IU comparison in the other comments. Like she's one of biggest if not the biggest artist in Korea but in the west, people might not have heard her name before (or that she's not as popular as BTS/Blackpink in the mainstream globally). But you've never heard this narrative that IU is the MOST underrated artist in kpop and you don't put those two on two together because that's simply not true at all, granted her fans also never downplayed her success either. Yet here we are again with moomoos having such a "victim syndrome" and always downplaying the artist they claim to love. Don't get me wrong, this is a great video but the fact that many moomoos tried to suggest you to make a reaction to this video despite having such a problematic title is just yet another thing to prove my point. Oops I forgot they don't see it as problematic that's probably why. Matter of fact they're so pride of it, the more people say they're "underrated" the happier the fans become hahaha LOL.
Here's my two cents regarding the matter. Maybe I'm the minority here who strongly dislike the title of this video. Imagine Mamamoo has achieved such great level of success, being one of the most well-known, respected, and beloved kpop groups in Korea, has a massive fanbase, only to be downplayed so hard by their own fandom like that (mostly by international moos). Surprisingly these fans become even more passionate and somehow wearing it like some sort of badge of honor with these idea of Mamamoo being the MOST underrated group which absolutely not true at all and they're far from it. Mamamoo is only "underrated" compared to a mega superstar group like BTS and BP but that would also make literally every single kpop group/artist out there underrated as well. I seriously don't know why there are so many moomoos out there trying to push these narrative that they are somehow the biggest victim in the kpop history ever. Some people already said in defense of the creator that it's only a clickbaity title but that's exactly why it's a problem here. To make it even worse, this video was just made recently around 5 months ago. It's so problematic. I really really dislike it when my own fandom did this, trying to portray something that wasn't true at all. Stop with this nonsense behavior. Again, their success shouldn't be downplayed.
I agree 1000% with you. The impression I get is that people are being overprotective with all this. I highly disagree with the title, it should have been called something else, but I still think it's a great video haha. Both can exist at once haha
IMO, the reason Mamamoo is underrated is because they don't sing in English. They could have been the Korean version of ABBA if they had switched to English.
Mamamoo doesn't get half the recognition they deserve and that's why they're "The Most Underrated Kpop Group"!

Which is super frustrating again because…
Bottom Line:
Great Video.
Lol.... OT4❤
Fully agree. I think the success they’ve had should be celebrated ❤️ they have deserved it and continue to
@@K-RossReacts yes, maybe their songs are not too everyone's taste but there is no denying the vocal talent these 4 women have. On a side note I'd also like to address something mentioned in this fan made content, as well as others, and one which I have also sided with, though have changed, during my 5+ years as a kpop fan. What is it? It is the zz jbiz
It's the mentality that some groups have it easier, and are where they are because they one from a top company.
I'm pretty sure the title was supposed to be click bait(y), but I get where you are coming from. ❤

@@K-RossReactsHere's an introduction to Jji-C if you don't know them ua-cam.com/video/zh1R71klLrA/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
thanks
Agree on every word. Their success shouldn’t be downplayed ❤️
Mamamoo is a vocal group, not GG
