Thanks for the review! How bright is the screen? I know it's not as bright as the 6K PRO, but is it still usable in bright outdoor conditions?
Of course! Definitely bright if you set it to 100% brightness during the daytime, the only problem I found with that is that it drains the battery significantly faster.
But if you plan on using an external battery like a v mount battery, then boost that bad boy up and you'll have no issues viewing in outdoor conditions :)
Hello Victor. I want to buy a Blackmagic. Do you recommend this G2 or the 6K full frame?
Hey Walter! What type of projects do you plan on shooting? I personally like the G2 a bit more because you can shoot in BRAW or Prores, and for long talking clips I use prores proxy a ton because its a smaller file size. And it can shoot uncropped 6k 50fps which is great. The 6k Full Frame is great too if you want a full frame sensor and the newer L-Mount that Sigma and panasonic are releasing more lenses for in the future. Also it’s on sale for $1575 so that’s an insanely good deal. The cons with the 6k full frame for me are no prores (only braw) so all your files will be huge, and also 6k 50p will have a 1.5x crop. Also I’ve heard the rolling shutter is pretty bad on the full frame so if you plan on filming sports or action, that can be an issue. So it’s totally

I have this camera. Im using Samsung external SSD drives, T5 500gb and T7 Shield version 1TB. These hard drives can record most qualitys and framerates, expect T7 Shield couldnt record full quality 6k video with 50fps more then 3-5 seconds before stopping. Basic T7 ssd drives are also problem, you can record max medium quality etc.
SD cards I havent bothered to try, because of data rates are high. This camera is mainly for shooting 6k Braw, you can also shoot 4k proress and 4K braw (this one crops, dont remember does proress crop).
I recommend this camera mainly for studio like environments, and mostly to shoot video with team. This is very hard camera to handle as solo, especially if you need character for your video.
Usability is also issue, because autofocus button is hard to handle by small size and camera frame is heavy. Image quality is superior of course, but If I would buy new camera now, I would go for sony fx30 or lumix s5 II (these are ofc more expensive if you want to get raw video out, because you need recorder, possible new lenses and/or buy resolve studio separately).
So If you seeking to shoot "action" video etc. where movement is everything, I dont recommend this because lack of continuos autofocus in camera.
