Well, with the new time-line, here's what I get for Dante's age: 8 by time of mother's death, 18/19 by DMC3, 28 by DMC1 (Trish "20 year" statement), Around 30 by the Anime (no clear time-frame, but he should have known Trish for a long while at this point), early 30s as of DMC2 (again, no clear time-frame) 38 by DMC4 (Nero is stated to be as old as Dante was in DMC3), at least 40 by DMC5 (Several years passed by, so he has to be older than 40 at this point, and Patty is turning 18, meaning close to 10 years should have passed)
Corrections and Clarifications: -The third playable character in DMC5 isn't going to be Vergil. -Nico in DMC5 is related to Nell from the DMC1 novel. Yes, they're pulling elements from the novel. They've been doing this since at least the anime, which had an entire episode surrounding the Tony Redgrave alias. -No, DMC5 is NOT set seven years after DMC4. They said "SEVERAL". Learn to read, guys, jeez.
Actually, the third playable character in DMC V will most likely be Vergil. A dude that leaked an article about DMC V a solid few months before the game got announced (that article got everything right as far as we know based on the trailer, stuff like Nero's robot arm, the demon raid on this new city etc) revealed that the third playable character is the "Mysterious V" the one from the trailer. Only the article suggests Vergil this time around will summon demons as his main specialty. I'll try to link you a picture of the article.
To be fair about the last correction, it wasn't about reading, it was about hearing. During the video the translater said several VERY fast. For a couple of days I really thought he said seven until someone in the subreddit corrected me.
Nope V is an entirely new character in fact everytime he uses power a symbol that looks like a H glows on him. Vergil has yet to be given a role besides ripping off nero's arm. Capcom confirmed this weeks ago wish it was Vergil but no sadly not
Web Head oh i am not saying they shouldn't in fact I never said anything of the like i was talking about v not being Vergil i don't where you got me saying not give Dante a son. In fact all for it the thing is I want to know when did he and lady even have the time cause lady as we know has no romantic feelings for Dante and never really around now him and Trish I could see but it's capcom so lady and Dante having a son is not far from realm of impossible boy wouldn't Vergil be shocked if he found out lol
I've been following Dan for years, and I don't think I've seen him spoil anything. I mean, all 3 of them teased the fuck out of fans by posting pictures of them in mo-cap suits, but they claimed they were older pictures.
David Macswain you'd have to watch footage from conventions. I can point you to two vids I've seen if you want. Hell, in one of the reunion panels he spoiled DMCV being a thing
The4thSnake Well you don't have to do it right away, Since DMC5 is right around the corner, you can restart this timeline again until DMC5 is released so is that cool by you bro.
If Dante is nearly 50 by the time DM2 occurs, then that demon blood in him must be doing him some good. Still being able to do acrobatic shit and kill demons? Hell, he may still age like a human, but his endurance and resolve is still incredible.
he could still age like a human but he could live longer while still looking at his peak due to being a demon.. id say id give dante like to 150 before he drops dead cause for him to push 50 and move like he is a teenager he gunna live awhile
The Mad Hattress it's good to note that sparda literally lived thousands of years as a full demon so I think it's safe to assume that Dante would atleast live a thousand and a half thousand of years at the most because he's half demon
I don't know how it all works in the DMC universe, with demon-human hybrids. I assume the more demonic side of him would give him an advantage when it comes to ageing, but who knows? The information given in the video is what I'm going off of, and it's all pretty hypothetical anyway. But Dante doesn't age while in devil trigger, right? So do demons just not age like humans do, if at all? Does his demon blood make the features of ageing just less prominent in Dante? Again, who knows?
I'm don't know why some people find it ridiculous that Dante might be 48/49 years old in DMC2. Just because he doesn't look that old in the game that doesn't mean he's not that age. Look at Keanu Reeves...he’s 54 years old, but still looks like he did when he was 35 years old. Some people just age well. Thanks for doing this video. I know the research and putting it all together wasn’t easy to do. I should know, I’ve attempted to figured out his age myself and something was always off with my calculation and sources.
Something to note is that Rebellion changes over time as Dante gets older since it's a living representation of himself. Rebellion in the 5 promotional image looks like it's in between DMC4's Rebellion and DMC2's.
Tribute = Rip off to most people apparently. I guess in those peoples eyes, only ONE person can ONLY do theory videos and no one else. Even if it is a theory the original guy will never do.
@@nova12332 And Mundus being alive in DMC1? Dante and Vergil's mom being a blonde human instead of a redheaded angel? On the point, Dante and Vergil being half-human/half-demon as opposed to being half-demon/half-angel?
I thoroughly enjoyed this vid (and the other one about Devil May Cry being deeper than we think it is). Both vids gave me new insight into the series and its characters, and a new perspective on the games as a whole :). Thanks for bolstering my love of the series (been a fan since 2001 when Code Veronica had an advert on the back of the manual for Devil May Cry).
Time line goes 19 for 3 28 for 1 38 for 4 and 44 to 48 for 2, Nero is 19 in DMC4 and Vergil is 18 in 4se. Vergil was in fortuna approximately 1 year or less before 3.
Rumour has it that DMCV takes place after DMC2 (finally), and it will feature the return of Mundus, and the end of "the sons of Sparda arc", if this is true, the game taking place 1 year after DMC2 (the time Dante spent on hell), would make Dante 50, which would be really fitting considering this game is (acording to rumours) the last game where he is featured.
Coleco 84 I believe it is and Vergil I think will help Nero and Dante at least I do at moment it's just people see him evil and he really isn't he wanted power to avenge death of mother and to have power so nothing of the sorts would happen i also believe he in spirit helps Nero in dmc4 especially when Nero mentions hearing a voice before repairing yamato that it asked him if he wanted power to save kyrie I believe it was Vergil of course that is my belief and sticking to it
SpardaTheDevil the thing is Nero is the main character so maybe there will be a sixth game featuring Dante and Vergil so far we know not of their roles in fifth and when they will appear
Coleco 84 i would be very sceptical of rumors that this is the last game to feature Dante seeing as he is a fan favorite and more 0r less the defining feture of devil may cry
I fucking love you, 10/10 edit Hmm, since Nero should be born before DMC3, I can understand why Vergil in 3 said that "without power, you cannot protect anything, let alone yourself!" and crazily seek power, not only because he lost her mother, it might also imply that he failed to protect Nero's mother because he lacks power? but why did he left Nero if that is the case? and why did he cut Nero's arm to get Yamato back? is it because he was not fully sane in DMC5? it is unclear when DMC5 will take place but it is likely to be after 2, in that case then Mundus is already beaten by Dante, though, not killed, so Vergil could get some of his sanity back, but not fully? or maybe Vergil did not recognize Nero and only get the Yamato because he needs power? if so that kinda makes sense since he left Nero alone after Nero was born and then he tried to take Sparda's power in 3 and then willingly stay in Demon world, since I doubt someone like Vergil would bang a girl without love or feeling, so it all kinda makes sense? but hey, that's just a theory, a DMC theory! I'm still fucking hype for DMCV!
にゃあエイリアンMeowAlien it makes lot of sense I theorized that Vergil helps Nero in spirit in dmc4 meaning that devil spirit that floats over Nero is Vergil, also Vergil wanted power to avenge death of mother and to protect his brother but in end of 3 realized that he had it all along, also I think in the final fight against Dante in first game as nelo he regained some control and showed his face and fought with all his strength knowing Dante is the only one who could free him from mundus. Of course I am going by constantly playing third and first and info from wiki and such
@Sarah Kerrigan I can understand how Vergil only care about power but then what for? Why would he need power? Because he wanted to be like his father? Then why did he say "Without power you cannot protect anything, let alone yourself" ? Of course it is just a guess and my guess is as good as yours, we lack information on Vergil perspective, idk how he is now in DMC V but I think he care about his mother deeply when she was alive and he doesn't seems like someone that has any interest in opposite sex yet we have Nero, we also have zero information about Nero's mother Unlikely but I hope they touch more about this in V
I'm positive several years ago I read somewhere that eventually all of Dante's human cells would die and he'd become a full devil with no humanity, appearing in a perfect Devil Trigger form with power surpassing Sparda. I think it was in an official artbook or one of the game's designers said it.
snakevergil don’t you ruin this for me. That actually sounds kinda cool, that way the character can stick around. If they do Nero right we won’t need to play as Dante but it is his series. I would like him to stay in some way shape or form.
snakevergil Actually, stygianempathy is right. There was an interview with the creator of DMC2 where he said eventually all the human cells in Dante would die and he'd become a full demon with no human heart, which I think is ridiculous because Sparda was a full demon. This is restated in the Devil May Cry 4 Artbook on the page about Dante's Perfect Devil Trigger that never made it into the game - they said it was too complicated but we all know they probably just ran out of time. Also, fun fact! I'm really tired so I don't remember if this was mentioned in the awesome vid, but according to the Word of God, Dante ages as a human when in human form (which he chooses to live as) but in devil form he doesn't age at all. So he could be considered immortal! Actually, this might have been mentioned in the vid... I need to go to bed.
I believe the idea is that he has to be careful with his Perfect Devil Trigger, or he'll lose his humanity. It's not an inevitability, just a risk of using his full power.
great video dude even if this turns out to not be true this is as true as it will get till the devs give us a real time stamp thanks for your hard work and dedication to my favorite series Dmc ^^
Supposedly, Dante's half of the game was supposed to detail his escape from Hell, but funding got cut and they couldn't create new assets, so they reversed the boss order and put Dante in. In other words, 4 is after 2
@The4thSnake I have some important news (and no, it’s not the timeline change, everybody has already told you that one). It’s a change that could help you if you decide to remake this video with the new timeline! In a recent video by YellowMotion which shows behind-the-scenes footage of some of Reuben Langston’s mo-cap reels, we see a scene of him picking up the phone at Devil May Cry and looking at it disgusted when he hears the voice on the other side. It’s a voice of a squeaky sounding girl exclaiming that she’s now 18. I’m almost positive that girl is Patty Lowell. If we can figure out how old Patty is in the Devil May Cry animated series, that gives us a definitive number of years between the animated series and DMC5. In which case, given how I doubt she’s any younger than 8 in the animated series, that could suggest that the events of later Devil May Cry games happen much closer to eachother then we normally think. What are your thoughts? EDIT: Not sure how reliable the source is, but a website online I found called AbsoluteAnime says definitively that she is 8 in the anime. Not sure where it’s getting it’s info from exactly, but if it’s correct that means my estimate of 10 years between the anime and DMC5 is correct. EDIT 2: I’ve seen some people online talking about the new Devil May Cry comic, Before The Nightmare. I haven’t read it myself, but people have been claiming that the comic states the events of DMC5 take place 4 to 5 years after DMC4. If this is correct (again, I haven’t been able to clarify myself), then this means that the animated series is also 5 to 6 years before DMC4, with DMC2 somewhere in between. EDIT 3: More info has come out of Before the Nightmare. It claims in Dante’s first chapter that DMC2 happened approximately 10 years before DMC5. Given that the animated series is exactly 10 years beforehand, and that we know DMC2 happened after the animated series, I would probably estimate the exact amount of time to be 8 or 9 years. Mix that with how Before the Nightmare is set before DMC5, meaning that the DMC animated series happened about 9 years beforehand, I would say the exact amount would be 8 years, and therefore DMC5 would be 9 years after DMC2. Mixed with all the other info, this is extremely extensive! DMC2 takes place about a year after the animated series, DMC4 takes place 4 years after DMC2, and that DMC5 also takes place about 4 years after DMC4. If we can just figure out how much time passed between DMC1 and the animated series, it looks like we’ll hit the Jackpot. :D
What’s also interesting about the anime is that Dante says in ten years he’d take her out on a date. That could also support the theory of it only being a ten year gap between the anime and 5
Well DMC2's place was moved to between 1 and 4. There was a prequel novel to DMC5. It shows Nero meeting Nico for the first time, and Dante meets up with Lucia. It's said the events of DMC4 happened 5 years. Making Dante 43 and Nero 24 in the novel. Dante mentions the events of DMC2 were about 10 years ago, making DMC2 Dante around 33. The novel ends with the scene of Nero losing his arm, and says Nico had been living with Nero and Kyrie for a year now. Meaning in DMC5, Dante is 44 and Nero is 25 EDIT: Should mention, I see that you've learned of the timeline change. I just mentioned DMC2 being switched around for the benefit of anyone reading and hadn't heard about it yet.
I just want To know, Why vergil had a Son with a Human, also the new character is not vergil, he have black hair and tattoos, vergil is probably in the game but not in that image
The4thSnake It actually hair, zoom in cdn.capcom-unity.com/capcom-unity.com/user/dubindoh/devil_may_cry_5/large/12b84275b71ec813e2718e35f9db539c.jpg?v=202200
Vergil never actually stated that he hated humans. He just hated that humans were weak. Which is why he wanted to be like Sparda, who he knows was a demon who could love a human. Loving a single human isn't outside the realm of possibilities for Vergil. Plus it's assumed in the novel that Nero's mother is a prostitute, so it didn't even have to be love. But that's an unknown factor.
Vergil wasn't visiting Sparda's grave. He was crawling out of his own. You can clearly see his name on the gravestone. Dante buried him and his mother.
He probably thought Virgil was dead as being a child he might not have known about his father's past. Its possible that because they were children this was the first time either were mortally wounded that it took a while (days) for virgil to regenerate. the whole being stabbed by Yamato and being nude thing might just be a psychological thing because it was a hallucination. (and as far as childhood trauma goes you and your mother being murdered shortly after your fathers death, then somehow you still being alive and pulling a kill Bill is... uhh pretty fucked.)
@@kieranray5340 My head canon for the reason that Lady is so badass and is able to keep up with the likes of Dante and Nero is because of the Divinity Statues.
I still don't understand why anyone thinks that the third playable character is going to be Vergil. We know that mystery character shown in the portrait at 8:48 is going to be the third playable character, and we know that he summons demons to fight. He looks nothing like Vergil, dresses nothing like Vergil, has none of Vergil's weapons - not even Yamato, and doesn't fight like Vergil. It's all but confirmed, however, that Vergil is the man who ripped off Nero's arm in the trailer, meaning he's likely going to act as a rival/antagonist for Nero and maybe even run into Dante again or the new guy. I'd love playable Vergil, but it's not happening in DMC5 outside of DLC. Also, in a recent interview for DMC5 it was 100% confirmed that Vergil is Nero's father. They stated that they redesigned Nero to look more like Vergil (shorter, spiked up hair and dark blue coat) and make it more obvious that he's Vergil's son.
All of Dante’s cameos in other franchises would line up really well with DMC2’s ending where he goes off to Hell. Would explain why he was gone for so long. Jokes aside, if DMC5 is after 2, I’d love to see some of Dante’s journey through Hell. I’m just imagining DOOM but it’s just Dante SSS ranking all day, everyday. You know what? I wouldn’t be surprised if Bloody Palace Mode for Dante was just played off as one of his flashbacks from back when he was in Hell. That would actually be pretty cool.
Capcom really don't know how to stay in a straightforward timeline... this pissed me the hell off to no end that now is been retcon that part 2 takes place in between 1 and 4. At this point why not just make it non cannon or even better yet reimagine Devil May Cry 2 to make it fit after 4
I thought the Capcom site said several years after Devil May Cry 4. Several means more than a couple, but not exactly a lot. It is used to minimize an amount. I'm thinking Nero (19 in DMC 4) is no older than 25 in DMC V and 22 at the youngest. Edit: Or they retcon how far into the future DMC 2 is and make it only a few years after 4.
he really needs to redo this video now with the timeline change, and the new game just being generally awesome (and my favorite game of all time) even if it doesn't add anything new to the story, and leaves Dante in the same place he was at the end of 2, I still think he should make another version of this video.
With the motorcycle most people didn't think about the possibility of legacy weapons from previous games returning. The bike has gold handlebars and red lights suggesting it's one of the 666 forms of Pandora's Box. Another thing that's also over looked is the design of Rebellion. It looks like a hybrid design between the Rebellion we see in 3 and 4 with the design seen in 2. If 3 is anything to go by the jaws and cross guard on Rebellion stay closed until Dante's Devil Trigger is awakened. It remains that way in the anime and 4. I believe that the idea Capcom is going with here is to show how strong Dante has gotten by having something that easily identifiable.
That's possible. As for Pandora, I'd love to see a character who uses it exclusively, with 2-3 melee and ranged weapon types that each have multiple forms.
Mundus dies twice, Eva is a different species, Dante and Vergil's powers are radically different, the world setting is radically different, Sparda is not a legendary hero.
Incredible video and a nice little improvement over your og which ironically introduced me to MattPat. Although I do feel inclined to inform you that the dub of the anime was actually produced by the now defunct ADV Films. FUNimation is merely a rights holder. Though your point against Funi even more so applies ADV so no harm no foul lol
Ah, okay. I remember reading that ADV's original plans for the dub of Sgt. Frog involved renaming all the characters. But the Funimation version took a ton of liberties itself, so...
Someone finally get's it right! :D Awesome video mate, really like how you elaborate on the entire timeline. I don't want to spoil anything but what is your current opinion on DMCV's placement after learning more about Dante's motorcycle in DMCV?
I know this video is reaching a year old but, A cutscene for dmc5 (which might have been in the demo? Idk where people saw it since the game isn’t out until tomorrow) reveals patty to be 18. Considering she was 8 in the anime we know 10 years have passed inbetween the anime to 5
I think at this point Dante's age is just whatever people want it to be. Can't really take what kamiya said as canon for the rest of the games since he only worked on DMC 1. I think we don't have enough information to determine an official age for dante. Just a general age. I always assumed he was somewear in his mid to late 30's in DMC 4 and in DMC 5 he'll be somewear in his 40's
Dante healing and Wolverine healing can be 2 seperate things. In wolverine case, i never get the exact detail on it, but from wat i see, his cell regenerate constantly and naturally, so he never aged. In Dante case, his cell age and die normally, but his regeneration is born from his demonic energy, and only because he will it. If he is too tired, wounded or incapacite, he cant use his demonic energy to regenerate himself as you see in his fight with Virgil. If you depleted his demonic energy, he cant regenerate and you can kill him. Though besides Virgil, no one has manage to push him that far, and only because he was young and didnt fully embrace his demonic power. By the time of DMC 5, he is truly powerful and i doubt anyone in the DMC universe can actually kill him.
Think you’ll redo the timeline due to the fact they changed where 2 is in the timeline? If it helps, from what I can find, the start of DMC5 takes place 10 years after the events of the anime. From what I can find, Patti is 8 years old in the anime, and the game has her inviting Dante to her 18th birthday party.
someone please confirm about dante actually fighting an evil dante and a army of "trishes"being canon,i thought it was just another horrible fantasy like super saiyan pink
So it was revealed that Nico( the woman with Nero in the DMC 5 trailer) is called Nicollete Goldstein...bring the granddaughter of Nell Goldstein...the same woman that made Dante’s guns in the DMC1 novel....the novel may not be canon but they are using stuff from it into the canon
Very solid theory man! I always assumed that he was 19 in 3 and about 38/39 in 4, but now that I think about it I have no idea where I got that info. Propably just guessed.
This is correct (before the swap of 4 & 2) But now if you see King j. (Well in the mind of: Nero, If I recall?) It states that 2 takes place after Animated, then 4. So goes like this: 3 (Manga) - 3 - 1 -TAS - 2 - 4 - 5 (Before the Nightmare) - 5 (I know this is a 3 year old video, but still.)
I have never clicked on something so fast. I remember stumbling upon the original video through it being listed on the Devil May Cry TV Tropes, loved the video back then and it's what got me into your work in the first place. Love the update and your content since then.
Yeah man! For the longest time it was under the Devil May Cry Awesome section. Sadly though, I don't believe it's there anymore. And you're very welcome! :)
The third playable character is confirmed to NOT be Virgil. On top of that, V is confirmed to be a summoner of sorts, which I think will be a very big departure from typical DMC style combat, but potentially very entertaining.
My hypothesis is that every decade a significant event happens. Dante/Vergil are 8 when Eva was killed. 9 years later vergil impregnates Nero’s Mom, same year dmc3 manga happens (Dante/Vergil 17). 1 year later dmc3 (dante/Vergil 18 and Nero is born). 10 years later dmc1 happens making dante/Vergil 28 which follows what trish said in dmc1. Dmc4 special edition Vergil cutscene states “few decades earlier” so Vergil was in fortuna 20 years ago (2 decades before dmc4) Nero is 20 in dmc4. Dante/Vergil are 18 years older than Nero, Dante is 38 in dmc4. Dmc creator said dmc5 is 10 years after dmc4. So Nero would be 30, Dante 48. This follows the 10 year rule. In dmc5 it would be a significant year for Dante, Vergil and Nero. It would be the 40th anniversary of Eva’s death. 30th anniversary of the events of dmc3 and Nero’s birth. 20th anniversary since last time Dante and Vergil met (dmc1). Finally, 10th anniversary since dmc4. A further hypothesis would be 10 years before Eva was killed, it would be 2 years before Dante/Vergil would be born. That was when she either met or married sparda. Of course, speculation, coincidences and not proven. If it is true, whats causing these events every decade? Possibly every decade in the human world, something occurs in the demon world that influences the human world? Again, speculation, coincidences, hypothesis that are just fun to think about.
remember how Arius somehow managed to open the demon gate in dmc2 eve though Dante gave him the coin instead of the arcana well we don't SPECIFICALLY know Vergil died in dmc1 and its clear he is alive cause looking closly at the cloaked man in the dmc5 trailer he has EVERY aspect of vergil….no need to see his face to know its Vergil...besides Vergil is the only one who has the drive to take Nero's arm as it contains Yamato so vergil is back to claim his power his body still corrupted by mundus even with Mundus gone there is speculation that the super demon in the trailer is either vergil in his new DT or Mundus having returned so Arius opens the demon gate..Vergil see's his chance to escape the Underworld and knowing Vergil the first thing he would want is his power back.....also lets look at the ruined city Dante drives through.....it looks like the ruins of the city from dmc 2 and as we know from dmc1 as we see in the Cathedral connections to the underworld can often distort and twist human world objects so the motor cycle dante rides on in the trailer is most likely still the same one from dmc2 but it has been distorted by being in the underworld...before you say "well the underworld didn't distort dante or his weapons" you're right and wrong right as in they aren't distorted and wrong because they cant be distorted Dante's devil arms are already demonic in nature his twin pistols although made by a gun smith Dante had his demon energy imbued into them making them the semi auto no need to reload hand canon's they are (at least that's what im going with as far as ive collected from the lore) cause nowhere is it stated how dante's ebony and ivory have no need for reloading so my guess is he laced some of his power into the guns while they were being made all other guns he gets through the games the shot gun grenade launcher rocket launchers etc all of them have to reload (except the smgs in dmc2 but that can be dialed down to lack of effort or time to implement a reload for them) although there is no reload animation for those weapons it takes times between the shots to fire again implying a reload time but ebony and ivory will fire every time when you pull their triggers and its not just in game..looking at the dimensions and shape of ebony and ivory they are loosely based on the colt m1911 and desert eagle but combined into one.the average magazine for those pistol is 8 to 12 shots before reload and in dmc1 and 3 we can see dante fire the guns without reloading for more than 12 total shots also in dmc1 you can see dante use some of his demon power to boost his guns when trish throws the bike at him anyway im going of track....looking at the evidence dmc5 is either IMMEDIATLY after dmc2 or slightly after the ending of dmc2 has too many loose ends that would need to be tied up in a sequel for it to be canonically the last game INCLUDING dmc5 when it comes out so in conclusion vergil is back for his power and more MAYBE mundus too and dante has to return from the demonworld to end his brother's reign of terror again and to put an end to the son of sparda saga which dmc5 is slated to be as it will transition to Nero as the lead role
Nice narration, dude:) I think now I can out two and two together and really understand how the DMC series are supposed to be. Plus ofc you got a like and sub from me for that particular text description:D I really can't wait till Devil May Cry 5 comes out and it's gonna pull my devil trigger a lot...I thinkXD Until next time, farewell)
You are welcome;) You are really good with commenting (what I lack):) Will gladly watch your other A line through time videos:) P.s. I'm also thinking of doing special video as a little token of appreciation:) Just a DMC montage but it's gonna take some time:) P.p.s. Keep up the good work:)
always fun to see how game makers can creat one game soooo bad and make the following game a masterpiece XD but sadly (or maybe thank god) you rarely see such a U-Turn
DMC3 - I would say 18 or 19, same for Vergil. I guess he impregnate Nero's mother when he was 17. I think lady is 2 or 3 years younger than Dante and Vergil which would make her 16, 17 or 18 in DMC3 DMC1 - It was conformed that Dante is 28 in the first game. He was 8 when Eva died and the game takes place 20 years after her death. Trish looks like she is 25, but he was created that year which means she was 0 DMC anime - I think it takes place one or two years after the first game which would make Dante 29 or 30. Lady would be in her mid or late 20s, I would give her 25, 26 or 27. Trish would be 2 DMC4 - Nero would be 19, and if Vergil impregnated his mother at the age of 17 it would make Dante 36, Lady would be 33 or 34. Trish 8 or 9 DMC2 - People have speculated that Dante was over 100 years old in that game, but since it was conformed that DMC5 takes place after it then I would say DMC2 takes 10 years at most after DMC4. That would make Dante 46, Lucia is created in DMC2 and that makes her 0, though she looks like she's in her mid-late 20s or early 30s DMC5 - If it takes place right after the DMC2 ending where Danste has gone to hell with his motorcycle then it would still make him 46, Lady 43 or 44 (she looks like a teenager, I guess she got magically younger), Trish would be 18 or 19 while Nero would be 29. If it takes a couple of years after DMC2 then it's a different story
Here is the timeline in chronological order. Devil May Cry 3 manga Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Devil May Cry Devil May Cry: The Animated Series Devil May Cry 2 Devil May Cry 4 Devil May Cry 5: Before the Nightmare novel Devil May Cry 5 and concurrently Devil May Cry 5: Visions of V manga Also found on fandom page that is based all around the actual devil May cry timeline. Also since Dante is old in devil May cry too but does not have facial hair yet it would be safe to assume that devil May cry 4 actually doesn't come up until after devil May cry 2. Just like the timeline States above. Because in devil May cry 2 Dante was old absolutely don't get me wrong but he wasn't that old. We kind of see him getting Grandpa aged in devil May cry 4 and 5. Devil May cry 2 depicted him as more of the middle-aged man. Where devil May cry 3 and 1 depicted of him as a Young Man. Of course the manga of devil May cry 3 and the anime of devil May cry also depict him as being a young man as well.
DMC2's placement is pretty evident tho, in the novel's story, it's just so happens to be Dante's birthday and it's stated that it's his 41st, then the DMC2 game takes place 1 year after that, which makes Dante 42 in DMC2. And if you have seen the most recent DMC5 Trailer, where Dante goes back to his old shop, it seems like he just got back after being away for a long time and the shop is covered in dust and some debris as he turns back on the electricity from the main switchboard and starts chatting with Morrison, which makes me believe he had just gotten back from hell considering his ragged clothes and then soon after, Lady and Trish pop up. All that said, the real question is , how freaking old is Lady in DMC5? Considering she is no more than 2 years younger then Dante, she looks pretty freaking amazing for a gal in her mid to late 40's XD. Also, Nero is 10 years older in DMC5 than he was in DMC4!!!! How can Dante age 20 years in that 10 year span and Nero only 10? Get your shit together man! If Dante really is 38(which I seriously doubt) in DMC4, then he would be 48 now. Which seems a little more consistent with his hell trip at the end of DMC2 and return just recently with the new game, but I doubt he was in hell for 6 years. 20:58 and omfg why does every jackass presume that woman got wet after seeing Vergil and jumped into the sack with him? It is stated that Neros mother was a prostitute, so how about this scenario. Woman gets pregnant with a client, realises she can't raise a child and gives it up for adoption, cue Nero. After that, feels guilty, cleans up, finds god (Sparda) and starts going to church. After one particular day once mass is done, walks down the street and sees Vergil, sees his face and stops for a moment, because maybe, JUST maybe, she was a little shocked to see a person resemble the son she gave up for adoption or resemble the client she had(not saying Vergil was the client). FYW: DMC5 confirmed to take place after DMC2. Seemed pretty obvious, yet people still insisted otherwise like retarded sheep.
"omfg why does every jackass presume that woman got wet after seeing Vergil and jumped into the sack with him"? Its an fair assumption because in the media (especially the 3 manga), its said that Dante is an chick magnet. Vergil is an twin of Dante so it can be inferred that he's probably pretty damn attractive to women as well. Also, its not like prostitutes aren't attracted to some clients. In fact, one of the scenes in the manga have an gaggle of prostitutes flat out state that about Dante. I mean come on, Dante, Vergil and human form Sparta are all pretty much meant to be fangirl bait, in and out of universe.
SPOILERS For DMC V Story (Don't Read if you want to experience the WHOLE Game for yourself): ( Some good music to read the story to here: ua-cam.com/video/VtzO2DC1WVU/v-deo.html ) (USE Another Tab to not interrupt this video) Around 2000 years ago, the human race was facing extinction from an unknown calamity. Demons were attacking the humans in desperate need of help. It is said two demons ruled above all the others, Mundus and Sparda. But as Sparda was sent to attack, he met a young witch by the name, Eva. She learned and gained incredible power as a human, she was able to become immortal ( However not invincible ) using black magic/Demonic power. Seeing the power exerted in combat, he quickly fell in love with the human and was told by Eva, "Please save the human race. Stop this horrible plunder from the demons and free us. Only then shall I entrust my heart to you, purest of Dark Knights." (I am not certain it's what she actually said but she was the reason for this). With the power he yielded, he alone, stood against the massive hoard of demons in his path to defeating Mundus. He successfully defeated them in quick succession and was left to face Mundus. Outraged by his betrayal, Mundus gave Sparda no mercy as they fought valiantly. In the end, Sparda defeated Mundus and sealed his power away to the darkest depths of the underworld, to never be seen again. After exchanging power and love with Eva, the two lived happily after rebuilding and Sparda showed his human form for the first time, showing he was settled. After the 2000 or so years, Eva gave birth to two twin sons, named Dante and Vergil. These two half-breeds of human mother and demon father, the two siblings kept sparring and fighting for their first few years. Sparda was too weak from exerting too much human forming and his battle-damaged soul, left the overworld. To rest in peace for eternity. However, the surviving demons saw this as an opportunity to attack the now vunerable family. As Vergil went to see his fathers' grave and Eva stayed with Dante in their home, demons attacked and almost killed him.At home, Dante watched with his own eyes as his mother was slain right in front of him. He ran in sorrow, never seeing his mother or brother again. Ten years later we see him as a strong fighter. Dante is tasked with an assignment to take out rogue demons in a far city. It is here that Both Dante and Vergil cross paths again. But now, the air felt different between them as they first saw, then afterwards wanted to kill one another. But before this occurred, Vergil was seeking power and stumbles upon a man interested in turning himself into a demon known as, Arkham. He informs that there is a way to break Mundus free from his slumber. It is here his plan starts setting in motion. A year later, Dante is trying to start a buisness on anti-Devil hunting. He is greeted by Arkham. At first he just walked in, but then he acknowledges his amulet on his chest and says for him to have it. The amulet is actually half of Spardas' perfect amulet that he used to seal and control his weapon, appropriately named, "Sparda." Dante is then greeted by a rush of demons inside and outside his building. He defeats these demons. Suddenly, a huge tower rises from the ground. Dante fights more demons and gets more powerful as he goes up. He is then greeted by a human devil hunter named, Mary or as he called her "Lady." He also fights and defeats her, to then carry the burden of not killing Arkham for her, his Daughter. Dante keeps this promise as he defeats him in the demon world, and leaves him to her. Vergil still had to be stopped, and Dante did so by slashing Vergil through the gut. As Vergil weakly traversed to a cliff side being overlooked by a waterfall, Dante had tried to stop Vergil. But as Vergil fell into the plume of darkness, Dante left the demon world with the Sword of Sparda in his possession. A seldom tear came from his eyes after that. As the tower crumbled down, Mary and Dante meet to fight the last horde to come from that tower and Split-up, Mary became a full-fledged devil hunter and Dante ran his in-Debt buisness for the first time. Nine years of running the store, Dante encounters a demon named 'Trish.' She informs him of Mundus breaking free of his chains and is threatening the existence of humans yet again. Dante is troubled by Trish as she resembles his deceased mother, Eva. He still goes to Mundus' hold and defeats a horde of demons, using the sword of Sparda. Before meeting Mundus, he is greeted by a demon named, 'Nelo Angelo.' Dante fights and defeats this demon but then Nelo reveals himself to be his deceased brother, Vergil. He then kills Vergil and gains his amulet. With this, he is now able to unleash the full power of the Sword of Sparda as it evolved into its' true form using his and Vergils' amulets, now combined. He then meets Mundus, Mundus then tries to kill Dante, but Trish jumps in the line of fire. Enraged by this, Dantes' inner demon awakens and resembles the form of his Fathers' demon form. He then defeats Mundus and saves Trish. The two now work together in the shop. After ten years, Dante travels to the city of Fortuna, investigating the 'Order of the Sword.' He finds Nero, a boy with a hurt arm, who fights the intruding Dante. Nero kept a secret in that his hurt arm is actually a devil arm or 'Devil Bringer.' This arm is said to be an infestation of his fathers' arm and power, Vergil. Nero then questions his beliefs of the order and then fights to save his love, Kyrie, who has been kidnapped by the order to serve as a vessel of 'The Saviour.' Dante had given the sword to Trish to use as bait to disguise herself as an order enforcer, Gloria. She gives the Sword of Sparda to the order for an initiation of trust she must now get back. Dante fights but then sees his brothers' kitana, Yamato, being used to break open hellgates to the demon world he must now seal. With defeating and destroying the sealed gates to permanently prevent further use of them, he recovers Yamato and destroys the orders' foundation. Dante, Trish and now, Nero must destroy the saviour. Dante from the outside, gives Nero (Currently trapped inside the Saviour) Yamato to fight the orders' leader. He kills him and saves Kyrie from further use of the Saviours' core, he then gives the stolen Sparda back to Dante and crushes the Saiour using his Devil Bringer and saves the world. Dante then leaves Yamato to Nero as it was the sword of Neros' Father. Many years later, Dante is an older, quieter and deadlier hunter who defeats the now thinning in number, demons. He is called by a huntress named Lucia who informs him that Two entities, Arias (Human) and Argosax (Demon) are trying to ruin the world. Dante then proceeds to kill Arias in the human world with Lucia, and proceeds for Argosax when he is in the demon world. Having done what is needed, he then further ventures off into the demon world at 49 Years of age. Possibly, never returning from the demon world so he can satisfy the urge to keep fighting demons for eternity. Some say he is still fighting these demons to this day, and that when he is satisfied, More will come from Dante... (Spoilers for DMC 5 Start here) DMC 5 Starts off a decade later, with a much older Nero and partner, Nico working in Devil May Cry with Kyrie in Fortuna repairing their van. Whilst Nico goes off to eat after she and Nero Work on their business van, Vergil Comes to rip Nero's arm (Devil Bringer) off and Take Yamato from it to his own again, slicing his way into a portal right after. After some time passes and Nero gains a new arm (Devil Breaker), a new demon by the name of Urizen arises from the demon world, (Presumably Vergil but corrupted further than Nelo Angelo (DMC1 Enemy)) wreaking havok on Redgrave city. Nero and Nico go to stop this, encountering demons along the way. Nero then re-stumbles upon a much older dante, possibly approaching or even past 60, as he and his son, V (Dante and Lady had a kid from the looks of it (and his age (Possibly late Teens/Early 20's) suggests that right after 4, Dante and Lady had some 'fun' whilst Trish was elsewhere)) are also attempting to stop Urizen from consuming the place. Nero, V and Dante all struggle to but manage to defeat Urizen. (MY Theory from here on) However, as Vergil is fading away, age has finally caught up to Dante, as the Toll cashed in and causes Dante to collapse and pass on to the afterlife with Vergil, leaving Sparda's latest generation to protect this world alone, but together as a team; Devil May Cry. (P.S If you're somehow STILL reading all this, the games chronological timeline between five games go : DMC3,DMC1,DMC4, DMC2 and DMC 5. The horrible DmC Devil may Cry does NOT come into this.) Thanks for reading the trilogy storyline and Like if you did, reply if you want to discuss and hopefully this gets pinned if the user hasn't abandoned this vid already. (NOTES) Assuming my theory is correct, this means; Lady Trish Vergil & Dante Are dead after DMC V: Nero Nico (Tech, Gear and Smokes) Kyrie (Support & Food) & V (Lucia Possibly Returning after DMC 2) Remain after DMC V. Latest Generation of the Devil May Cry Business taking over the old OG one. #OGsWillBeMissed
I seriously doubt Dante would be in his late forties during DMC2. Him being that old is a really big stretch. If you ask me, I believe that he is in his early-to-mid-forties in DMC5, like somewhere between the ages of forty and forty-five. Oh, and DMC5, by the way, has been officially confirmed to take place after DMC2.
7:33 This is a common misconception about Vergil. He does not have a "disdain" for humanity as a whole, just views it as dead weight in his pursuit of power. Him sleeping with a human woman would only be contradictory to his character if he stayed with her afterwards.
Well, with the new time-line, here's what I get for Dante's age:
8 by time of mother's death,
18/19 by DMC3,
28 by DMC1 (Trish "20 year" statement),
Around 30 by the Anime (no clear time-frame, but he should have known Trish for a long while at this point),
early 30s as of DMC2 (again, no clear time-frame)
38 by DMC4 (Nero is stated to be as old as Dante was in DMC3),
at least 40 by DMC5 (Several years passed by, so he has to be older than 40 at this point, and Patty is turning 18, meaning close to 10 years should have passed)
That’s more accurate
this is more accurate. Dante being 50 in DMC 2 is nonsense

Corrections and Clarifications:
-The third playable character in DMC5 isn't going to be Vergil.
Capcom confirmed this weeks ago wish it was Vergil but no sadly not
Web Head he already has. In fact in all four games he shows such it's Vergil that Capcom needs to show humanity more than what we seen end of 3
Web Head oh i am not saying they shouldn't in fact I never said anything of the like i was talking about v not being Vergil i don't where you got me saying not give Dante a son.
Vergil is Nero's father the devs confirmed it not up for debate really.
Neptune Jr. It was spoiled by Vergil's VA before DMC4 released xD
Rodmar Gees he spoils alot lol.
Neptune Jr. Who didn't kno that
Looks like your going have to make another DMC timeline video because CAPCOM
has pulled the retcon trigger on DMC's cannon, especially DMC2.
Yeah...
The4thSnake Well you don't have to do it right away, Since DMC5 is right around the corner,
you can restart this timeline again until DMC5 is released so is that cool by you bro.
Btw i heard someone did confirm dante's age for dmc5 but i dont remember how old. I believe it was 43 or 45
I Feel like 4 being after 2 makes more sense
Ninja Theory saw this and retcon this just to troll.
If Dante is nearly 50 by the time DM2 occurs, then that demon blood in him must be doing him some good. Still being able to do acrobatic shit and kill demons? Hell, he may still age like a human, but his endurance and resolve is still incredible.
He'll probably die around 90, but without deteriorating. He'll just be in peak health until his time comes and he just drops dead on the spot.
he could still age like a human but he could live longer while still looking at his peak due to being a demon.. id say id give dante like to 150 before he drops dead cause for him to push 50 and move like he is a teenager he gunna live awhile
The Mad Hattress it's good to note that sparda literally lived thousands of years as a full demon so I think it's safe to assume that Dante would atleast live a thousand and a half thousand of years at the most because he's half demon
Dante dose not look 50 in dmc 2
Yeah, I don't get it either. It's so weird.
Another good example would be hugh Jackman.
It's just strange because that would make him in his 50s by the time DMC 4 rolls around. Which really just makes him an old man for DMC 5
@@eddiesm6 No bcuz I think DMC 2 Dante is older than DMC 4 and 5 Dante
@@The4thSnake i wouldent be suprised if he’s supposed to die at a few hundred years old considering his dad lived for a few thousand

I remember the original video. This was a great update and revisit. Keep 'em coming!
Thanks for sticking with me.
Something to note is that Rebellion changes over time as Dante gets older since it's a living representation of himself.
Rebellion in the 5 promotional image looks like it's in between DMC4's Rebellion and DMC2's.

Thanks for sticking with me.
the fact that people think the dmc devil may cry is a prequel suprises me
It surprises you? It's actually ridiculous how many people I've had to correct.
sometimes i like to think DmC is a prequel to DMC3 lol before the world got fucked up by demons hence ruin-like city in DMC3

Ah, this was great! Compared to the last time, your own style really makes it your own. I definitely accept your conclusion.
Thank you. I'm glad you like it.
It's awesome.
Time line goes 19 for 3 28 for 1 38 for 4 and 44 to 48 for 2, Nero is 19 in DMC4 and Vergil is 18 in 4se. Vergil was in fortuna approximately 1 year or less before 3.
also Anime manga and novels are semi canon, games are 100% canon.
Coleco 84 I believe it is and Vergil I think will help Nero and Dante at least I do at moment it's just people see him evil and he really isn't he wanted power to avenge death of mother and to have power so nothing of the sorts would happen i also believe he in spirit helps Nero in dmc4 especially when Nero mentions hearing a voice before repairing yamato that it asked him if he wanted power to save kyrie I believe it was Vergil of course that is my belief and sticking to it
End of sons of Sparda arc? That's means we r gettin start of grandsons of Sparda arc! Cuz my legacy will never die!
SpardaTheDevil the thing is Nero is the main character so maybe there will be a sixth game featuring Dante and Vergil so far we know not of their roles in fifth and when they will appear
iirc Crapcom register devilmaycry6/8.com(7 apperently was taken by someone xD) sites, so everything can happen.
Coleco 84 i would be very sceptical of rumors that this is the last game to feature Dante seeing as he is a fan favorite and more 0r less the defining feture of devil may cry
Kamiya is a solid game designer but god help me, he is a petulant jerk.

Go take a look at his twitter, should give you an idea.
Don't be a jerk to him, and he won't be a jerk to you
I fucking love you, 10/10 edit
Hmm, since Nero should be born before DMC3, I can understand why Vergil in 3 said that "without power, you cannot protect anything, let alone yourself!" and crazily seek power, not only because he lost her mother, it might also imply that he failed to protect Nero's mother because he lacks power?
but why did he left Nero if that is the case? and why did he cut Nero's arm to get Yamato back? is it because he was not fully sane in DMC5? it is unclear when DMC5 will take place but it is likely to be after 2, in that case then Mundus is already beaten by Dante, though, not killed, so Vergil could get some of his sanity back, but not fully? or maybe Vergil did not recognize Nero and only get the Yamato because he needs power? if so that kinda makes sense since he left Nero alone after Nero was born and then he tried to take Sparda's power in 3 and then willingly stay in Demon world, since I doubt someone like Vergil would bang a girl without love or feeling, so it all kinda makes sense?
but hey, that's just a theory, a DMC theory!
I'm still fucking hype for DMCV!
As you should be.

Lol what the fuck happened us!?
@Sarah Kerrigan I can understand how Vergil only care about power but then what for? Why would he need power? Because he wanted to be like his father? Then why did he say "Without power you cannot protect anything, let alone yourself" ?
Of course it is just a guess and my guess is as good as yours, we lack information on Vergil perspective, idk how he is now in DMC V but I think he care about his mother deeply when she was alive and he doesn't seems like someone that has any interest in opposite sex yet we have Nero, we also have zero information about Nero's mother
Unlikely but I hope they touch more about this in V
I'm positive several years ago I read somewhere that eventually all of Dante's human cells would die and he'd become a full devil with no humanity, appearing in a perfect Devil Trigger form with power surpassing Sparda. I think it was in an official artbook or one of the game's designers said it.
stygianempathy not true
snakevergil don’t you ruin this for me.
Study Buddy that would actually parallel the myth of heracles, who ended up burning away his mortal side and becoming a god
great video dude even if this turns out to not be true this is as true as it will get till the devs give us a real time stamp thanks for your hard work and dedication to my favorite series Dmc ^^
Thank YOU for watching it.
Supposedly, Dante's half of the game was supposed to detail his escape from Hell, but funding got cut and they couldn't create new assets, so they reversed the boss order and put Dante in. In other words, 4 is after 2
Where did you hear that? The devs have confirmed numerous times, in multiple interviews and the name of the artbook, that it's 3142, not 3124.
@@The4thSnake PPPPPFFFFFFFFFFF
That could also support the theory of it only being a ten year gap between the anime and 5
Chaos A7X
Yeah, but I mean, I’m pretty sure he was joking about that. 😂
He was. She wasn't XD
Also one key point that 5 takes place after 2 is Dante's face. He looked way younger in 2.
Eh, I'd say it's the technology nowadays. But he's more mature in 2. By far
Jesus I never realized how complicated the timeline actually is you seemed to hit the nail on the head great video!
Thanks. Stay tuned for the post-DMC5 update video. Hopefully, I won't have to change too much.
Liked it off of the intro alone
Well DMC2's place was moved to between 1 and 4. There was a prequel novel to DMC5. It shows Nero meeting Nico for the first time, and Dante meets up with Lucia. It's said the events of DMC4 happened 5 years. Making Dante 43 and Nero 24 in the novel. Dante mentions the events of DMC2 were about 10 years ago, making DMC2 Dante around 33. The novel ends with the scene of Nero losing his arm, and says Nico had been living with Nero and Kyrie for a year now. Meaning in DMC5, Dante is 44 and Nero is 25
EDIT: Should mention, I see that you've learned of the timeline change. I just mentioned DMC2 being switched around for the benefit of anyone reading and hadn't heard about it yet.
I just want To know, Why vergil had a Son with a Human, also the new character is not vergil, he have black hair and tattoos, vergil is probably in the game but not in that image

Huh. You're right.
Vergil wasn't visiting Sparda's grave. He was crawling out of his own. You can clearly see his name on the gravestone. Dante buried him and his mother.
Dante had to go and get someone to make the gravestone for Vergil, then buried him nude, before he healed enough to get up?
I don't think that was literally his grave. He was probably hallucinating and it made the scene more creepy for the reader.
The4thSnake buried him nude AND stabbed with yamato and it's sheath
He probably thought Virgil was dead as being a child he might not have known about his father's past. Its possible that because they were children this was the first time either were mortally wounded that it took a while (days) for virgil to regenerate. the whole being stabbed by Yamato and being nude thing might just be a psychological thing because it was a hallucination.
(and as far as childhood trauma goes you and your mother being murdered shortly after your fathers death, then somehow you still being alive and pulling a kill Bill is... uhh pretty fucked.)
Personally i don't think Dante is nearing his fifty's he's probably in his early forties at best.
But if Lady is also in her teens in DMC3...then she's around Dante's age in DMC4...
She does not look "late 30s" at all!
This IS Japan we're talking about.
Demon blood is grate for the skin.
@@dime-a-thousand8002 the funny thing being Lady is the only entirely human playable character
@@kieranray5340 My head canon for the reason that Lady is so badass and is able to keep up with the likes of Dante and Nero is because of the Divinity Statues.
DMC 5 better be after 2 that awful game can't be the end of Dantes story
It's a below average game
You mean dmc 4 and 2010 emo dante version?
DMC 4 was fine. I'd put it up there with 3 but fanboys will hate me for it.
Dennis it deserves to be close to 3 for it's gameplay alone.
Farraige dmc v us taking place after dmc 4
Great video, nice to see OG Dante cutting off Donte's head lol
Thanks. He had it coming.
Son Goku i Like DmC dante
Too bad.
zibby Jdm then leave
Xeno Warrior why would I leave?
Just saying ik its made b4 but devil may crys new cannon is dmc 3 1 2 4 5 they changed it to make the story flow better
Lol you are wrong
This was bloody EXTENSIVE!!! Well done!
Devil May Cry: Dante's Inferno.
Dantes new motorbike looks like the Lucifer Weapon from DMC4. Like its a attachment to the bike
Capcom really don't know how to stay in a straightforward timeline... this pissed me the hell off to no end that now is been retcon that part 2 takes place in between 1 and 4. At this point why not just make it non cannon or even better yet reimagine Devil May Cry 2 to make it fit after 4
"I've come to retrieve my power. You can't handle it."
Fuckin' hell, buddy. You've got no mercy.
The chronological order of the series.
Here's a cess pit. That's what it looks like.
Thank you and good night.
"A game theory!!! You can't Stop me!" Nice bro xD
You deserve more subs.
came in for DMC info, stayed for that sweet, sweet Rich Evans cameo
Edit: I CLAPPED WHEN I SAW IT!!!!!!
You're my friend for life.
I actually really loved the anime. *shrug* now I want a strawberry sundae
he really needs to redo this video now with the timeline change, and the new game just being generally awesome (and my favorite game of all time) even if it doesn't add anything new to the story, and leaves Dante in the same place he was at the end of 2, I still think he should make another version of this video.
As for Pandora, I'd love to see a character who uses it exclusively, with 2-3 melee and ranged weapon types that each have multiple forms.
i'm only here because two best friends play are doing a LP of the first game.
The Best Friends actually inspired an episode of this series on Dead to Rights back when they did that LP.
This party getting crazy ,LET'S ROCK!
as if that many people respect matpat outside his fanbase
I still consider the reboot as the first prequel fucking fight me that game was too good to forget
Mundus dies twice, Eva is a different species, Dante and Vergil's powers are radically different, the world setting is radically different, Sparda is not a legendary hero.
@@The4thSnake ay look here you, I loved the gameplay and level design ye? So let me find some place to put it ye? 😭 its a prequel to me
Another awesome video! Roll on DMC5!
The4thSnake Yeah both have their issues that's for sure. And seriously awesome vid. Can never have too much good DMC and MGS content on this platform
This is true.
Glad you didn't bring in the Bayo timeline into this. It would have been a nightmare. great video. keep it up
Why do you keep doing this to me?
So I can sleep easy at night knowing you won't.
Someone finally get's it right! :D
Awesome video mate, really like how you elaborate on the entire timeline.
I don't want to spoil anything but what is your current opinion on DMCV's placement after learning more about Dante's motorcycle in DMCV?
It's confirmed post-2.
I know this video is reaching a year old but,
A cutscene for dmc5 (which might have been in the demo? Idk where people saw it since the game isn’t out until tomorrow) reveals patty to be 18. Considering she was 8 in the anime we know 10 years have passed inbetween the anime to 5
Wow I applaud the time it took for you to come up with this.
Thank you.
ALL UP FOR HD Lucia!!!
I am.
"A new character, probably Vergil" WELCOME TO DMC YA'LL!
someone please confirm about dante actually fighting an evil dante and a army of "trishes"being canon,i thought it was just another horrible fantasy like super saiyan pink
its not canon, took place in an alternate reality where Trish didn't have a change of heart. If you're talking about her death that is?
So it was revealed that Nico( the woman with Nero in the DMC 5 trailer) is called Nicollete Goldstein...bring the granddaughter of Nell Goldstein...the same woman that made Dante’s guns in the DMC1 novel....the novel may not be canon but they are using stuff from it into the canon
Very solid theory man! I always assumed that he was 19 in 3 and about 38/39 in 4, but now that I think about it I have no idea where I got that info. Propably just guessed.
I didn't even know you were the same person who made that timeline those years ago, oof.
Mind blown?
No I just feel like a moron oTL
I guess I was just that good at "impersonating" MatPat.
Same, i had the look up the old one to make sure
So, Dante is 59 during DMC5. That explains the moustache in the leaks. Old Dante confirmed.
So bizarre that now after all these years they`ve changed the game chronology. Its now 3, 1, animated series, 2, 4, and then 5.
DMC 5 takes place after 2. In 4 Nero said Dante just got back from hell. So he had to hit up some tourist spots.
23/3/19 writing
The timeline has changed the game designer said that dmc 2 is now before dmc 4
I'm working on an update.
Interesting timeline on devil may cry series
Thank you.
your welcome
This is correct (before the swap of 4 & 2)
But now if you see King j. (Well in the mind of: Nero, If I recall?) It states that 2 takes place after Animated, then 4. So goes like this:
3 (Manga) - 3 - 1 -TAS - 2 - 4 - 5 (Before the Nightmare) - 5
(I know this is a 3 year old video, but still.)
Watch the follow-up I did for DMC5.
She was in that red cloak when Vergil bumped into her in the city.
I forgot... How do you all know if dmc2 is the last One?
The devs said so and named an artbook after the chronological order, 3142.
Welp your theory is no longer correct due to dmc2 now taking place before dmc4. Time for a remake
I have never clicked on something so fast. I remember stumbling upon the original video through it being listed on the Devil May Cry TV Tropes, loved the video back then and it's what got me into your work in the first place. Love the update and your content since then.
Thanks so much. Thanks for sticking with me all this time. It was linked on TV Tropes? What?
Well DMC5 is already confirmed that it's gonna take place after DMC2.
GOD I NEED MORE FAN ART OF LUCIA SHES SO PRETTY
She really is.
Nice upload CREW CUT.
But I'm wearing a helmet. How do you know my hairstyle, Nero?
Stop acting like Nero isn't Vergil's confirmed love child! The devs have already expressly stated this, so get it through your head.
Not once did I say he wasn't.
Idk about love child but child yes lol
You cant stop me! Noice
You made an older video about Dante's age and it's great to see an update! Subscribing!!!

I actually had always assumed that the reboot was Dante's origin story. That is... If you wanted to adopt the reboot into the plot.
4thsnake you won't believe this but they completey changed the dmc timeline
I know.
@@The4thSnake what are you gonna do about it? how will it affect your purpose ages for dante
remember how Arius somehow managed to open the demon gate in dmc2 eve though Dante gave him the coin instead of the arcana well we don't SPECIFICALLY know Vergil died in dmc1 and its clear he is alive cause looking closly at the cloaked man in the dmc5 trailer he has EVERY aspect of vergil….no need to see his face to know its Vergil...besides Vergil is the only one who has the drive to take Nero's arm as it contains Yamato so vergil is back to claim his power his body still corrupted by mundus even with Mundus gone there is speculation that the super demon in the trailer is either vergil in his new DT or Mundus having returned so Arius opens the demon gate..Vergil see's his chance to escape the Underworld and knowing Vergil the first thing he would want is his power back.....also lets look at the ruined city Dante drives through.....it looks like the ruins of the city from dmc 2 and as we know from dmc1 as we see in the Cathedral connections to the underworld can often distort and twist human world objects so the motor cycle dante rides on in the trailer is most likely still the same one from dmc2 but it has been distorted by being in the underworld...before you say "well the underworld didn't distort dante or his weapons" you're right and wrong right as in they aren't distorted and wrong because they cant be distorted Dante's devil arms are already demonic in nature his twin pistols although made by a gun smith Dante had his demon energy imbued into them making them the semi auto no need to reload hand canon's they are (at least that's what im going with as far as ive collected from the lore) cause nowhere is it stated how dante's ebony and ivory have no need for reloading so my guess is he laced some of his power into the guns while they were being made all other guns he gets through the games the shot gun grenade launcher rocket launchers etc all of them have to reload (except the smgs in dmc2 but that can be dialed down to lack of effort or time to implement a reload for them) although there is no reload animation for those weapons it takes times between the shots to fire again implying a reload time but ebony and ivory will fire every time when you pull their triggers and its not just in game..looking at the dimensions and shape of ebony and ivory they are loosely based on the colt m1911 and desert eagle but combined into one.the average magazine for those pistol is 8 to 12 shots before reload and in dmc1 and 3 we can see dante fire the guns without reloading for more than 12 total shots also in dmc1 you can see dante use some of his demon power to boost his guns when trish throws the bike at him anyway im going of track....looking at the evidence dmc5 is either IMMEDIATLY after dmc2 or slightly after the ending of dmc2 has too many loose ends that would need to be tied up in a sequel for it to be canonically the last game INCLUDING dmc5 when it comes out so in conclusion vergil is back for his power and more MAYBE mundus too and dante has to return from the demonworld to end his brother's reign of terror again and to put an end to the son of sparda saga which dmc5 is slated to be as it will transition to Nero as the lead role
I still watch the mk 2011 critique

"I'm not saying Dante was born the same year as Jesus!"
But he was though, except Jesus' real name was Vergil.
always fun to see how game makers can creat one game soooo bad and make the following game a masterpiece XD but sadly (or maybe thank god) you rarely see such a U-Turn
DMC3 - I would say 18 or 19, same for Vergil. I guess he impregnate Nero's mother when he was 17. I think lady is 2 or 3 years younger than Dante and Vergil which would make her 16, 17 or 18 in DMC3
DMC1 - It was conformed that Dante is 28 in the first game. He was 8 when Eva died and the game takes place 20 years after her death. Trish looks like she is 25, but he was created that year which means she was 0
DMC anime - I think it takes place one or two years after the first game which would make Dante 29 or 30. Lady would be in her mid or late 20s, I would give her 25, 26 or 27. Trish would be 2
DMC4 - Nero would be 19, and if Vergil impregnated his mother at the age of 17 it would make Dante 36, Lady would be 33 or 34. Trish 8 or 9
DMC2 - People have speculated that Dante was over 100 years old in that game, but since it was conformed that DMC5 takes place after it then I would say DMC2 takes 10 years at most after DMC4. That would make Dante 46, Lucia is created in DMC2 and that makes her 0, though she looks like she's in her mid-late 20s or early 30s
DMC5 - If it takes place right after the DMC2 ending where Danste has gone to hell with his motorcycle then it would still make him 46, Lady 43 or 44 (she looks like a teenager, I guess she got magically younger), Trish would be 18 or 19 while Nero would be 29. If it takes a couple of years after DMC2 then it's a different story
I've seen a pretty good argument character arc-wise that places DMC 2 after the anime and before 4
Here is the timeline in chronological order.
Devil May Cry 3 manga
Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening
Devil May Cry
Devil May Cry: The Animated Series
Devil May Cry 2
Devil May Cry 4
Devil May Cry 5: Before the Nightmare novel
Devil May Cry 5 and concurrently Devil May Cry 5: Visions of V manga
Also found on fandom page that is based all around the actual devil May cry timeline.

( Some good music to read the story to here: ua-cam.com/video/VtzO2DC1WVU/v-deo.html )
(USE Another Tab to not interrupt this video)
Around 2000 years ago, the human race was facing extinction from an unknown calamity.
(Spoilers for DMC 5 Start here)
DMC 5 Starts off a decade later, with a much older Nero and partner, Nico working in Devil May Cry with Kyrie in Fortuna repairing their van.
(MY Theory from here on) However, as Vergil is fading away, age has finally caught up to Dante, as the Toll cashed in and causes Dante to collapse and pass on to the afterlife with Vergil, leaving Sparda's latest generation to protect this world alone, but together as a team;
Devil May Cry.
(P.S If you're somehow STILL reading all this, the games chronological timeline between five games go : DMC3,DMC1,DMC4, DMC2 and DMC 5. The horrible DmC Devil may Cry does NOT come into this.)
Thanks for reading the trilogy storyline and Like if you did, reply if you want to discuss and hopefully this gets pinned if the user hasn't abandoned this vid already.
(NOTES)
Assuming my theory is correct, this means;
Lady
Trish
Vergil
& Dante
Are dead after DMC V:
Nero
Nico (Tech, Gear and Smokes)
Kyrie (Support & Food)
& V
(Lucia Possibly Returning after DMC 2)
Remain after DMC V.
Latest Generation of the Devil May Cry Business taking over the old OG one.

Blurgamer 17 interesting 🤔
But does Vergil seem like the kind of person who even cares about sex? He always struck me as too motivated to care.
I did think it was odd, but I guess he isn't so obsessed with it that it's the only thing on is mind at all times.
