  • This walk is to the single Munro Bruach na Frithe on the main Black Cuillin Ridge, starting from the car park in Glen Brittle. It turned out to be a super weather day having been previously turned back due to high winds and rain the day before.
    A great day with stunning views across the island.

    Nice one guys. I love Skye, went the family holiday there in July but was on the recovery from COVID so the boots were strictly for walking the dog. As someone famous once said, “I’ll be back”. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

      Hi Frank, It was great to finally get together in Glen Brittle which was always going to happen at some point. Hope your Skye trip went well, particularly with the settled spell of weather and clear tops. We managed the IP on Wed and completed the three in the south on the Thu.... a terrific week.
      Cheers, Charlie.

    Another great video. How typically two days can differ on the hills. Good decision to abandon the previous day when the weather looked, not only particularly foul, but also dangerous. More so had you have gone higher.

    • @charliemccartney7055
      @charliemccartney7055  Рік тому

      Hi Jonathan, The decision to abort was certainly right as there was noway we would have made the summit. The strength of the wind was bordering on dangerous at height. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie

  • @ontheadventuretrails-scotl9389

    Super.. definitely worth keeping for the better weather. We’ve been looking at a loop from the Slig that takes us over that direction but not sure how easy the route is to get back down off the back side of the ridge. Need to do more research. Thanks Charlie..nice wee trip you guys are having. :-) D&L

    • @charliemccartney7055
      @charliemccartney7055  Рік тому +1

      Hi D&L, There are quite a few good paths coming up towards this top which would give a circular loop back to the Slig. There's one that skirts across the front of the main ridge and lands you on the top which would allow you to return by the shoulder we went down then turn right back to the hotel. Cheers, Charlie.

    Glad you got better weather and were able to go back the next day to finish the climb! Is the approach from Glen Brittle shorter than from the Sligachan Hotel?

    Enjoyed this very much, Charlie, bringing memories back from so many years ago. It's a great way up this peak which, from a photographer's perspective, I think is one of the finest viewpoints for the entire Cuillin ridge. Was there any reason in particular why you chose to do this from Glen Brittle rather than from Sligachan? We found the burn almost impossible to cross one day when we attempted it. Interesting to see that you had such wonderful weather. On the very same day the weather here in Invermoristion was nowhere near as good, although we didn't have the heavy rain you encountered the day before. Looking forward to the next one. All the best, Ian.

      @charliemccartney7055  Рік тому +2

      Hi Ian, We were staying at Portnalong so it was easier to get to the start of this route other than driving to the Slig. It also has a good chance of being a lot quieter, until to get to the top anyway.
      I would agree its location is excellent for views along the ridge, just stunning. Cheers, Charlie
