- Hello everyone, in this video today, i explore the differences between the different difficulties. If there is anything i have missed, i do apologise but i hope at least i have helped show the main differences between each one.

2:22 => Story Mode also give you the possibility to avoid some puzle like the locker Puzzles. (Huge difference that help to avoid waste of time)
5:48 => What make the hard difficulty even more harder than all other one, it's that the Counterspell of Protego no longer destroy shield. It mean you have to use the right spell to destroy enemies shield and at the beginning of the game it is really hard because you didn't learned all of them.

100% a story mode person- I don’t care about fighting people and just want to go around gaining more animal friends and exploring

That's what I like about it. I personally like hard mode but story mode is best for others. It's great to have options to suit different people so all can enjoy instead of just a few

Story Mode sounds perfect! I had hoped they would just completely get rid of the combat scenes but this seems close enough to that.

true i do wish there was story mode hard and story mode easy and in easy u dont even have to fight its all made in cutscences that are epic and in hard u can fight the battles but ya know u dont take dmg and its basically the same as nomral story mode that we have
I started out on normal mode and found the group fights nearly impossible to get through. I'm not a big gamer and playing on my lap top, trying to remember all the controls was a bit of a nightmare! Now I'm playing on easy mode and it's much more enjoyable and still feels challenging to me.

Same! I played my first character on normal & I liked it also not too much of a gamer. I tried easy as well for my other 2 characters, but I want to try a more difficult setting
When I’m tired at night I love just switching to easy mode but it also helps me practice combat and the buttons and when I’m more awake and then I switch back to normal. I love that they have this feature!

At least in Story mode, you don't need to drink the Wiggenweld potion to heal.
Honestly the potion is pointless due to the talents & the many bottles around the world. You could just use the talents that add to your life as you deal damage to others or blocking their spells

After story mode , go for Normal and hard mode , as these mode will give you altogether another experience and force you to think on what potions , plants to be used during combat .
What talent should be acquired and what traits should be woven in fabric to get protection against specific enemies.
Idk I just think anyone saying this is easy on hard needs to get a head examination.

as someone who's played through Sekiro twice, this game really needs a more challenging difficulty
This is not Fromsoftaware game.So there is no need for extra difficulty

Thankyou. I haven't bought Hogwarts Legacy because the videos make it look like you can't play it without mastering the gamepad fighting. I have never mastered that so can't buy games that depend on it. The story mode means I can try this game.

Hi Rob M, look im new in all this gaming world, and i mean, last time i played, was sonic with my sega about 20 years ago…. I have CERO experience, CE RO.. for real, however i started with normal setting and im doing pretty fine.. of course o had to replay many times multiple fights, but didnt mind. For my next game ill definetly choose story, cause i just want to explore more. Dont miss this game, is mindblowing!

I have done fights in it, can never remember which spell is where and I don't think I have ever really hit anything. But if you are really bad, like me, the game takes over and throws things at the enemy.
You can not die. Sometimes it comes up asking "Do you want to skip this fight" and will take you past it while giving you the XP and anything else you need.

Quick question what about the stealth quest are they easy on the story difficulty?
I haven't noticed a difference with the difficulty of stealth. The stealth is pretty easy and it is optional, so if something goes wrong, you will not fail the quest! I hope this helps! :)
Broom trial number 2 will be borderline impossible on hard mode on console. Plus u can't lower the difficulty and change the time required afterwards. 2:26 becomes 1:55. Good luck getting under 1:56, I hit every single bubble and ring, cant shave last second. I hope they fix this
I never knew that was an issue! Thanks for bringing it up! It sounds like there are a few fixes that are needed but they have done very well when compared to other releases in the past!
This is so helpful thank you! I’m not a huge gamer. I usually play things like sims or FarmVille and I had set it to normal originally and was struggling and getting discouraged. It took me almost 2 hours just to get past the guardians in the vault. Story/easy is right for me. I don’t really care about the combat, I just didn’t want the side quests and such to disappear if I choose story. I’m enjoying the game so much more! I’m also so thanking WB thought to include all levels of gamers. ❤

One big difference between normal and hard mode is Stupefy doesn't break enemy shields on hard mode.

Thank you for this! I started on normal and found it quite difficult to do battles when multiple enemies were attacking you at once. So I think I’m going to switch to easy for now. (I’m playing in pc and I’m not to nimble with my fingers lol.)

@@cameronwilliams41 thank you. I actually found out that the level of the soldier things (the restricted section part) were lv 15. And I was lv 5. 😬. So no wonder it was hard. I’ll probably stick to easy though. Sometimes I forget to look at my head and I need the button reminded.

im on switch and i have a pretty good reaction time when trained to do somthing and still using protego is still hard as f
Played on the hardest mode and it was pretty easy although getting potions and healing was a bit of a pain cause it didn’t matter most of the times all your health will be gone in one hit
The final boss was a big pain tho was stuck on him for like an hour but got through today
I still think that they should add a harder difficulty.
I agree. I was shocked at how many hits players are able to take on the hardest difficulty!
I think early Hard mode was literally Dark Soul level (as someone who chose Hard mode at the get-go without trying the game before xD ), but then you reach near late game (lv30+) everything become normal mode again...
@Beane Yeah the game wants you to peak performance your gear every 3 levels but ain't nobody got time for that, and it hurts.
There are MODS.. big bad beautiful MODS.. that will give yo everything you want.
@@BeaneChunz I just started playing and did the same thing and the pure panic I have had in some of the fights, for one of them I put on a suit of armor and played dark souls music to better suit how I felt lol
Sidenote the dadeinal keys mission also is affected they zoom passed the keyholes faster
The biggest issue with ease in difficulty even in hard mode is one hit protection assuming level difference is small(+1/+3). Even if you are at 10% hp and get hit, you will never die to that hit. The only place this wont happen if the hit inflicts some sort of damage over time like burn or poison. burn definitely kills you, poison not sure.
Thanks for sharing, I got my wife hooked on the game, she is having difficulty with the fighting so I might bumper her down to Story mode. I think I also saw somewhere that you don't have to go through the Lock "Unlocking mechanics" you just press a button and it unlocks once you know the spell. :)

Thanks m8 good video, ive been playing with my gf so we chose easy and its enjoyable to watch her struggle with the combat lol being an avid souls player i could def play on normal or hard but maybe for another playthrough on my own one day.

Thank you for your message! The settings on Hogwarts Legacy makes it able to adjust the brightness that will be best suited for you. There’s not any parts that is fully immersed in the darkness, it’s quite level throughout. If you play on story mode, you cannot die, so you can take as much or as little time as you need to complete each mission. I think in regards of games accessible for those visually impaired it is likely going to be a better one on the market. If you do decide to get it I wish you the best of luck and I’d love to hear how you get on!
There’s also an automatic difficulty adjuster of some kind. I’m not sure how it works but I’ve definitely noticed it. Play really poorly and you’ll end up in an easy combat eventually, at least in normal mode.
I’m going to switch to story mode from easy…I’m in my 60s and absolutely can’t do what easy needs me to do in the battles, but maybe with time and practice I can switch back to easy. For me right now it’s about the story anyway more than the battles.
Originally when I started playing the game I wanted to do a Story 100% playthrough and a Hard 100% playthrough. This changed when I found getting through the Prologue on Hard was - well, Hard!!
So I switched to all four houses 100% on Story mode. I'm learning the 100% speedrun at this time after my casual playthroughs. I did go back to Hard recently and still couldn't get past the Prologue!

@@cameronwilliams41 Currently I've learned up to the Gorgon Portrait which is about 8 hours in. My speed however is compromised by the need to ensure that all the field guide pages are counted on the map and I've also managed to despawn the Daedlian Keys three times!
there is a Triangle button for Protego in Story and Easy mode.
as someone who does not play combat much I played on hard mode which was quite easy. Some of the toad enemies were extremely difficult in groups though
Yeah those Toad enemies early on can be a real pain!
Hard mode, rush offensive gold armour, never upgrade it. Low offence stat makes the game HARD, not mid.
Since I'm a total gamer, I set my settings to normal, and since my dad is not a total gamer, his settings will be story mode.
Started out on normal and while I found some of the challenges really fun I would get completely stuck on others. This was really frustrating as my main focus is progressing through the story.
Switched to story mode and am having much more fun. I may switch to easy in the future but for now story mode is the right experience.

Also, on story mode & easy I believe, (not 100% sure on easy) you don't have to play the alohamora mini game or the nabsack mini game.
I've been generally playing on normal mood but a couple of times switched to story to get through a combat situation, I like the combat but sometimes I get bored of dying and having to try again XD.

The game was relatively difficult for me because I only started spending my talent points after level +30. So casting spells at a basic level certainly was a challenge. Once I chose my talents the game became easier and enemies died quicker.

@@cameronwilliams41 it ended up been a good thing because I watched a few videos on each talent. So I could spend them wisely since they're limited and non-refundable.

@@zorrow_ ikr I have my utility spell set which bassically i have all the spells useful in the room of recuirmenmt and it has lumos levioso the disapearing spell and reparo and then i got my combat which has just combat useful spells like leviso expelearmus incindeio and im pretty sure confringo

Enemy shields deflects your spells to you if you didn't break them
Me being an almost 70-yo invalid, which recently had a heart attack, that made me have only half a heart left, and suffering from cancer, and GPD, what difficulty do you think i choose ?...;)

did you do any testing outside of the game's tutorial? some of the information is off. damage is affected by difficulty setting. and you can die in story mode

Since I have played games with harder combats than this before, I am playing on NORMAL difficulty. But it's still challenging enough for me as I sometimes die multiple times before completing a mission.

@@cameronwilliams41 Okay, it bothers me that i fly into walls all the time..or cant land, even if all i see is grass.. It irritates me that the DEVS are prudes that live in the 17th century and think teenagers have no breasts. (Give us a goddamn slider, so everyone is happy.) Even Sims3 has them.. and that game is what ?.. 15 years old ?... and EA is prude as hell. I get RSI from not having auto-walk... I mean, even Fallout3 has auto-walk, and that game IS 15 years old... But, having said that, HL is strangely addictive.. and perhaps MODS will help me get my gripes addressed... someday. And hopefully someone will shut up that irritating girl with her goddamn gob-stones...

I heard that stupify breaks shields on lower difficulties, but not on hard. Is that true?
Yeah it is true! I tested it out for you and I couldn’t see my to break the shield with stupify!

it seems story difficulty also makes the riddles like you just succeed instantly? I surely don't want that! I think I'll do easy most of the time to still do the riddles and just switch to story before a combat

The dedalian keys are extra hard on hard dificulty
I noticed that on my second playthrough. Went from hitting the timing every single time, to just being slightly off most of the time.

I wish they would make different difficulty levels for different aspects.
A difficulty level for combat.
A difficulty level for non-combat events such as puzzles.

Hard mode is still too easy. I restarted without leveling and rushed the story and still breezed through it. I hope they add a higher difficulty.
Hogwarts Legacy is such a shit game -10/10
