Thanks for posting these "smaller" adventures. Your simpler videos fishing in North Carolina were what got me into fly fishing years ago. I love the big adventures you go on, but the every day adventures that anyone can do is what I think inspires a lot of us. Great job!
This really shows the reality of what anyone can do. We all dream to take these great big adventure, but we need the fuel to make them happen. These small fast & light trips really are the fuel to drive the big things. Super rad to see Wild Fly taking it down to reality and doing what anyone can really accomplish in a day or weekend with a bit of creativity and planning. Its not always these super remote places that need to be fished. A stream on the side of the road can make for a great day of fishing. Love this and stoked for a new series
The production value is SO HIGH for this being a solo project. Huge fan of your art and stories. I'm a medical student and I listen to your podcast whenever I'm driving to and from the hospital. You've inspired me to take advantage of the surf fishing nearby even if it's challenging. Appreciating local waters is so important. Reach out if you're ever in San Diego, will get you dialed in for the surf. Cant wait for more Fly Cup Diaries. Keep it up you're a legend!!!
Finally getting to watch this and love it. I don't comment often, but I felt compelled. I bought a small kelty fanny pack(lame, I know) a year ago. It's what I take when I hike into WNC streams with the 2wt. It's contents are exactly the same. Tippet, floatant, and flies. That's it, and I've loved scaling back for certain outings
One of my favorite videos so far!! A video in which us..."average Joe's"..would be able/willing to do. Looking forward to more like this. Great video!!
Love this Scotty. As someone who does a lot of minimalist bike fishing along the San Antonio river, I very much appreciate this series. The ‘huge extravagant’ trips are great but do not shy away from these. Cannot wait to see one where you’re able to camp as well.
Great video Scottie, love the fact that you left the parts in where you got snagged in the trees, apparently it happens to all of us no matter how experienced. Keep up the good work!
To be able to bike and fish is awesome. It’s been a long time since I’ve done that but even with the rain I would find a place under a bridge or whatever I could find.
I have found a place to fish and have fun 15 minutes from my door. It's not about how big nor how many. It's about how much better you feel after getting out there and trying to unravel the mystery of trout. Thanks for sharing your adventures and keep doing them, whether you share or not!
Love seeing this local mini adventure. There’s something pretty awesome about being able to start on your bike out your front door. Keep it up man and keep the authentic content coming!
I love that little creek. It’s my go to spot for when I only have an hour or two to fish. I’ve experienced all the same challenges there, but it’s worth it to catch a few native fish basically in town.
Simple but still epic. The best part is seeing all the small things you normally pass in a car. Thx for sharing Scottie! Hope to meet u on the river one day✌️ Steve at Black Fly
This brings me back to before I had a driver's license, just biking to lakes and streams and going fishing. It's cool to see you keeping that adventurous spirit alive, and just simply enjoying the process of going fishing rather than getting wrapped up in all the fancy gear and faraway places that are such a huge draw nowadays. Keep it up!!
I know you have had this suggested by other people too….(and twice by me now) but you should do the Utah Cutthroat Slam and do a vid on it. It is a lot of fun. If not, no worries! Just keep on kicking out the great content!
You must be busy with a new grand adventure. This is great therapy I bet. Keep it up, best channel on UA-cam in my opinion. So much so, i've cancel all network TV on my Cable provider. More Short Bus with the Boys coming I hope.
Hey man love watching your stuff. Keep sharing! Currently watching this while “working” haha. If you every want to fish the Logan or Blacksmith Rivers just let me know!
I enjoyed watching your 130 mile trip, and great that has inspired you to do more smaller trips. When I was a youngster, I used to cycle to a lot of my fishing spots. A little more freedom than with a car.
Dig it dude! Started following you when we lived in NC too. Funny we also relocated to SLC. When you put out your Uinta video I told a bunch of friends how cool it would be to make a bikepacking fly loop out there. Then you went on your first bikepacking trip in Idaho and I was stoked! Glad to see you are still getting after it and doing some fun stuff on the bike!
Looks like you had to be able to land your cast in a fly cup in some of that pocket water. Tactical fishing at its best. Always entertaining, keep ‘‘em coming please!
Awesome real video my friend! I can’t count the times I’ve looked at the forecast and still got stormed on. It happens and you made the right choice. The fun in adventure always comes with some type of risk involved. Keep up the hard work brother, can’t wait to see the next chapter
Sweet trip. If you ever want to do a bike pack back country trip in the Banff area, let me know. I’ll take you into some cool spots. Also an opportunity to fish Alberta rivers as side trips to make the trip North worth it. Hike, bike or jet boat. All available.
These are the type videos that got me interested in your channel originally. Good quality and simple fly fishing in creeks and small streams. Your more “robust” productions are great don’t get me wrong, but this is what I can relate to more. Would really like to see more of this. Great work as always!
Really enjoyed this episode. The simplicity is so refreshing. But you need to pick up a short (7.6 ft) and light (#3) fiberglass rod for those bush whacking streams rather than using that 9ft graphite rod! 😄
I am trying to learn from your video shots on how to edit a fishing trip. I count about 28 complex time intensive tripod setups. No way was this a easy kickback solo fishing trip. Especially the uphill bike shots where you setup the tripod and ride up a steep section by it and than ride back down to breakdown the tripod and than ride up that same steep hill again 🤯🤯🤯. Lots of quick moving water shots, a few underwater shots, a few flower/plant shots, and some nicely composed tripod setup fishing shots. I am going to use a drone for my biking/hiking shots and save way more time for fishing.⌛️
Dude its funny, because now whenever i watch any other fly fishing videos, nothing compares to your content! I just got back from a 4 day colorado trip, and im going through withdraw now! LOL Gotta get back out there! AWESOME content brother!!
We took a UTV overlanding trip in the Uintas in August. Fishing was great, but of all the mountains I’ve been in, I’ve never seen the weather change so quickly and so dramatically! On our last two days we experienced the heaviest rain we’ve ever had camping - three times! 😆
Love some videos of smaller trips! I love going on big trips but it's so important to stay connected to fishing on a more day to day basis than the huge adventure a few times per summer.
Hello, I appreciate the goal of simplifying in fly fishing. I would like to suggest that you give tenkara a try if you haven't already. It is a super simplified way to fly fish and it is so much fun. It is also a great way to introduce new folks to fly fishing as it mostly eliminates the complexities of line control.
Honestly your simple videos are the reason I subscribed. Loved the weekly videos like the our water series when you were in boone. Sometimes less is more.
Love this vid bro! A way more digestible length for UA-cam. I hope to see more. Love all your vids but it’s nice to see something a bit shorter in my feed 👍👍
Awesome video I've been waiting for another bike packing fishing trip. It looks like so much fun. I actually got my first flu rod this year after watching your videos. I have been a couple times this year and had a few follows but no eats yet.
Love this and looking forward to another one. I watch a lot of bikepacking and touring channels (way more than I actually ride!) and they ride right by so much beautiful water. I’d never get anywhere because I’d be stopping everywhere. This was fun to watch. Well filmed and edited, too.
Your vids definitely inspired me to get into blue lining for brookies. Ive gotten pretty good at bringing the bare minimum for them since im hiking in a decent ways. I still need some work on minimizing equipment on those slightly larger streams that dont warrant bringing the kitchen sink
You need to try out some driftless fishing out here in Minnesota and Wisconsin. One of the most special places in the Midwest. Farmland, prairies, and meadows. Could make a gorgeous video!
Nice vid. Something to be said about a simple trip with minimal equipment. I have been downsizing what i carry. Makes you think about where you are fishing and what methods you are going to use. Like watching your content.
6:28 this happened when i went out today, had no luck and came up on a good spot, was switching flys and a guy and his dog came up and dived in... wish i could be that invisible when hunting lol
This was a fun video to watch! Thanks for sharing it can be a lot of fun with essential gear only. Did you wish you had brought your net? Trout are slippery!!! How far did you bike??
Had to sacrifice the net for packing sake but it would’ve been nice 😅 And I ended up biking around 28 miles since I had to bike all the way back after the storm.
Love your videos!! Trying different fishing styles are a good way to train your mind and to expand your knowledge, keep it up. And always be prepared lol😅
i live in salt lake and i’ve been trying to get into fly fishing. after months i still haven’t caught anything. i bet there’s a slight chance you’ll see this hahah but i’d love to go fishing with you and help me catch at least one fish. i’ll drive😂😂
Thanks for posting these "smaller" adventures. Your simpler videos fishing in North Carolina were what got me into fly fishing years ago. I love the big adventures you go on, but the every day adventures that anyone can do is what I think inspires a lot of us. Great job!
I feel the same
Same
Same here, the NC videos are pretty much the whole reason I flyfish today !
fly fishing in the bike helmet, so much steez
When's the next van adventure video coming Will?
@@jeremiahhedeen3879 brewing up some edits right now, hopefully in the next couple weeks something will be out!
Looked like the path to parleys creek
You know it’s a good day when your fishing in your helmet! Great video!
One of my favorites so far. Very relatable microadventure!
Great work Scotty.
They can’t all be epic adventures. Just share your passion for fishing. That’s all anyone wants to see. 👍🏻
I love that stream. I taught a couple of my kids Tenkara there.

Man this makes me miss Salt Lake. I’ve never even fly fished; just love your videos and passion for it.
Love the thought and meaning in these videos!
One of my favorite videos so far!! A video in which us..."average Joe's"..would be able/willing to do. Looking forward to more like this. Great video!!
Kudos to taking us on this simple adventure, so fun!!
Love this Scotty. As someone who does a lot of minimalist bike fishing along the San Antonio river, I very much appreciate this series. The ‘huge extravagant’ trips are great but do not shy away from these. Cannot wait to see one where you’re able to camp as well.

ebike...that is all I got. Looks AMAZING. Love all the videos
The shot with the trout in the hand is exactly the type of shot i want to be getting one day. Love that shit
Back to the basics. Simple clean and affordable.
It was your production quality that initially hooked me, so to speak, but I enjoyed this video style as well!
Still don’t understand how you’re under 1M followers, keep up the great work!
To be able to bike and fish is awesome. It’s been a long time since I’ve done that but even with the rain I would find a place under a bridge or whatever I could find.
As a dude who loves to fly fish and bike pack, thanks for the tips on how to pack things up!
I loved it! I grew up in the suburbs of in Murray/ holiday and loved going up to the creeks only a few miles away from the valley.
Fun to see you fishing some of my home water! Fun place to fish.
Genuinely enjoyed this video.
That last fish was incredible!
6:49 love that hit. figuring a way to catch them in a weird situation. what its all about for me sometimes. cheers
I love that creek .. my fav part is you just fishing with your helmet on 💯
I love that little creek. It’s my go to spot for when I only have an hour or two to fish. I’ve experienced all the same challenges there, but it’s worth it to catch a few native fish basically in town.
Simple but still epic. The best part is seeing all the small things you normally pass in a car. Thx for sharing Scottie! Hope to meet u on the river one day✌️
Steve at Black Fly
This seems like a great kind of trip that I wanna do one day! Something about solo trip sounds very peaceful.
Great work!
Thank you for taking us on your adventures and the continuous inspiration! I enjoy all of it!
Hell yes. Love it
This brings me back to before I had a driver's license, just biking to lakes and streams and going fishing. You must be busy with a new grand adventure. This is great therapy I bet.
Keep it up, best channel on UA-cam in my opinion. So much so, i've cancel all network TV on my Cable provider.
More Short Bus with the Boys coming I hope.

You've convinced me to try fly fishing so thank you!
This will become one of my favorite series, hope you continue it!
I enjoyed watching your 130 mile trip, and great that has inspired you to do more smaller trips. When I was a youngster, I used to cycle to a lot of my fishing spots. A little more freedom than with a car.
Nice Scotty, maybe a net next time, small one.
love the bikepacking!
Love this…..more please!
Dope videos me and my son like watching them
Nice work on filming. Little creeks like that are quite challenging, sometimes catching the fish isn’t as hard as landing them . Thanks for sharing
Thank you
Great idea for a series. Look forward to more. Especially more bikepacking fishing.
Stream is very full. Good to see
Really enjoyed the simplicity and honesty of this episode. I’d love to watch more like these. All your stuff is fantastic.
Simplicity? He did a ton of stopping for complex tripod bike shots. It takes a ton of time to do those setups.
There’s something so ridiculously fun about hopping on a bike and cruising to a fishing hole. It’s like the ultimate summer activity
Dig it dude! Started following you when we lived in NC too. Funny we also relocated to SLC. Micro adventures are the way to go.

Well done ❤. Bj from AK
Dude just started watching your channel and did not expect to see you head up Millcreek!! Grew up there and still live pretty close. Love the content.
Your vids definitely inspired me to get into blue lining for brookies. Ive gotten pretty good at bringing the bare minimum for them since im hiking in a decent ways. I still need some work on minimizing equipment on those slightly larger streams that dont warrant bringing the kitchen sink
Simple is best. Good vid.
Scottie, NC trained you well for that water. Great Video! Have y'all gone to Alaska yet? Looking forward to seeing that trip.
I love the videos man! I’m excited to watch this new series!
This is a great video and trip for those quick getaways between the larger/longer trips. Why not carry a backpack for a bit extra bear?
You need to try out some driftless fishing out here in Minnesota and Wisconsin. One of the most special places in the Midwest. Farmland, prairies, and meadows. Could make a gorgeous video!
In in Rushford mn. I agree!
Gorgeous video! I was wondering what rod and reel you are using for a stream that size? Thanks!
Nice vid. Something to be said about a simple trip with minimal equipment. I have been downsizing what i carry. Makes you think about where you are fishing and what methods you are going to use. Like watching your content.
very cool trip, I'm all for easier adventures its nice to just get out most days.
My introverted self loves this:
6:28 this happened when i went out today, had no luck and came up on a good spot, was switching flys and a guy and his dog came up and dived in... wish i could be that invisible when hunting lol

Hi, I was wondering, what's your bike ?
Please do a series of this! It’d be cool if you had an explanation of all your gear and what kind of bike
Simple is good
The audio transition from the submerged camera shot to the stream running top down view is sick editing. What audio equipment did you pack for this?
Just the Joby Wavo Pro shotgun microphone
i live in salt lake and i’ve been trying to get into fly fishing. after months i still haven’t caught anything. i bet there’s a slight chance you’ll see this hahah but i’d love to go fishing with you and help me catch at least one fish. i’ll drive😂😂
