The new generation in New Orleans doesn’t know French because they took it out of our school system just to replace it with Spanish . Since more Spanish people is coming over to the country I school system took French out but we still have French in the city to where the kids can learn the basic and keep our culture going

So basically, Ray is in love with the goddess of love, and in the end when he died, they believe that he is finally with Evangeline. So when he died, Ray is with the goddess of love.
What gets me about this song is the sincerity the actor managed to capture. No one has ever loved me even half as much as that firefly loves that star.
I love this song. I just saw this movie for the first time yesterday with my wife. We both cried, like, three times. His voice, tremulous and just that little bit off the notes sometimes makes him sound so much more human than most of the singers for the last twenty-five years or so, perfectly tuned, perfectly timed. This is better, more characteristic, more appealing because of its imperfections, rather like the character himself. This is one of my favorite voice actors, and I'm glad to have learned, recently, that he seems to have a great personality himself. He deserves his fame.
