    Thank you Ian,
    I now do my own refraction, using my own test lenses.
    Starting at 20/60, or -0.75 diopters, I got a change of +1 diopter, to 20/20, at measured +0.25 diopters.
    In other words, I got myself out of myopia.
    Thank you for helping me achieve this scientific result!

    Hi Ian Squire,
    This is a good review.
    This is an excellent method to measuring positive and negative status for the normal eye.

    What if the patient prefers the plus cylinder? How do we recount the sphere after
    adding more plus cylinder power? And what about the situation when the best spherical power is plus and the patient prefers the minus cylinder? How do we count the new spherical power after we added more plus cylinder?

    Very useful video.
    In this example, the sph is a minus(-5.00), so every time you increase cylinder power by -0.50, you reduce sph power by 0.25.
    What about if the sph power is +5.00, when you increasing the cylinder by 0.25, will you decrease sph to +4.75 or increase it to +5.25?
    Confuses me alittle bit but I understand the technique

    Hi! Could you explain in some of your future videos how the JCC works? Or rather my question is, why as the cyl will be a half dioptre increased , schould be the sphere only a quartet increased?
    In my practice it works very well and I do that every day. But it is for me just a roule ,and I miss the conception behind of it. Thank you for your answer , and best wishes from me to You, Gàbor from Budapest...

    Great video very well explained.. Sir please make more videos like this.. And i hv a question +1.00 blurr test can only do on a minus or myopic prescriptions? Can't do on hypermetropic presciption?

    • @otiebrown9999
      @otiebrown9999 3 роки тому

      That is what he was doing.
      Increase the plus, until he gets noticeable blur, with plus increase of +0.25 Diopters.

    • @cyberlightbeing
      @cyberlightbeing 7 років тому

      Ian Squire Many thanks for the info, I live in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire - UK and it is probably worth me seeing Mr Lumbi as he seems very knowledgeable and extremely thorough. I have a slightly complex issue and the opticians that I have seen seem to spend little time or are not thorough enough to come up with a prescription that I am comfortable with. Just wondering if you know or can recommend a competent Optician who is nearer to me? Many thanks!

    hi there! from the start, it is -5.00sph, and the final cyl is -1.75 while the final sph is -4.50. Why not -4.25sph as -1.75cyl is more than triple 0.50s?

    • @thabangditshego8963

      Amanda Wen I have noticed that he didn't compensate for the first -0,50 cyl

    but i think at @16:35 he should change the spherical from -5.00 to -4.25

    if we make almost 36 minutes for...every eye..!! ...patients eye doesn't give the correct response ....in my practice I understand that we must make almost 5-7 min. in this time we must find the best SF and the CYL/ AXIS.......( patient in this video is almost ...sleeping...he is sooo... tired from the examination....)
