In the comparison 0-60 at 7:47 the engine seems to bog down and the revs drop massively without the supercharger… this is impressive! 👏🏽 For 300bhp I’m guessing exhaust would be upgraded?
Yea it’s a huge difference when launching. Actually have to manage traction now. My understanding is exhaust centre section and back box need to be 2.5/3inch and some additional fueling
Thank you, very informative, and Fun. Please do the 300hp conversion, can't find anyone that's posted one ...please ... considering the NC bbr as my next car, currently running a Na Mx5 turbo 1.6 similar power !
ah yes, good old BBR... take your money, fit a bunch of stuff, and then when it goes wrong, they shrug their shoulders and tell you to go speak to Mazda. One of the worst after sales support teams I have ever experienced. They have zero interest in things going wrong, and won't back you up when they do. I'd personally go use more enthusiastic independent tuning specialists. Myself and at least 2 other friends have all had bad run ins with BBR... wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.
It's a shame you had a bad experience... I've had no issues thankfully. It's a shame there isn't more choice on the market for different kits and doing it DIY doesn't seem realistic
BBR is known to be even worse for US customers who can't drive over and knock on their door. People who ordered their ITB kit have waited almost a year to get an email with a tune file. This supercharger is a Rotrex C30-94 like every other NC kit. There are other options. Self-install is supposed to be quite easy; about equivalent to fitting a full exhaust or big brakes or something.
So with my car there are two cats. One in the manifold and one in the centre section. I’m not an MOT expert but from my experience the precat in the manifold doesn’t cause enough of an emissions increase for the MOT to be a problem and as it isn’t visible it doesn’t get flagged as being removed
The precat that gets deleted is only used for cold-start emissions. The cat in the mid-pipe takes a while to light off, and you'll notice the smell on a cold start. But once it is heated up, it works perfectly fine, and the car passes tests with no codes. They might still nab you if they know enough about the car to visually spot the difference, but if not, you should be fine.
hi mate, did your car pass its MOT with the BBR decat manifold?. i've been hearing it depends on where you get your car tested, as i have the BBR super sport backbox and i'm going to buy and install the 4-1 BBR exhaust manifold. But i'm not too sure if i want to risk getting the decat manifold and then my car failing its MOT. I own an NC2 like yours.
NC2 and NC3 have a factory oil cooler that uses engine coolant. Centrifugal superchargers don't heat up the oil nearly as bad as turbos because there's no hot side to run oil to, but it's still definitely a good improvement over NC1. This style oil cooler also brings the oil up to temp more quickly in the winter.
Nice idea, but I think it's more about making your beloved mx5 faster. I'm guessing maybe you're not a mx5 owner? And I know turbos are more tuneable, more efficient etc etc but superchargers are cool (although give me the Eaton roots whine over that weird whistling 😂).
@@mikerichards9196 if you double the power of an 'mx5', is it still an mx5? What exactly is it that you 'like'? I don't have an mx5, but if my range rover had double the power it wouldn't be he same car anymore - and no I'm not sure I would like it
Great video, gives me even more incentive to supercharge my NC. The only thing that’s holds me back is the lack of communication from BBR.
Thanks! Agreed, best way I’ve found is just calling them.
You're so good on camera! Great video and I'm kinda envious
Envious of the car or me 😅😂 the car is very good, and it’s a change you not telling me I’ve ruined a car
Gotta go stage 2 next, my 25th ae is fully forged turbo, 321bhp @ 0.6 bar boost. ohlins coilovers, puts a massive grin on my face 🥰🥰

I would possibly change the exhaust just for the noise but I'd have to test it Prior just to make sure it wouldn't b Boomy on Motorways.

are the kits fine just tuning bad or the whole thing?
When you add boost to any engine that wasn’t designed for it things will go wrong.

Hi mate , loved your video , i just want to ask about the fuel consumption it’s better with the SC and how much is it before and after ,
Thanks
We got another Jack Scotton upload before GTA 6 🙌 Life is good
i feel like half the fun of a supercharged car is the whine. that tingle it makes is super cool though
Great vid, complete natural!
However, I am NOT coming for a spin with you!
Love this mate 🎉
Thank you mate!
Congrats. What is the suspension setup ? Thanks
After I finish the 2.5 engine swap on my 07 nc I said I’d get a bbr kit
What is that high pitched blowoff?
How much do you charge for a cut and blow dry ?
More than you can afford pal
@@tjscotton oh you are awful
need this kit haha
Cool how about your insurance ? I have the miserable 1.8l but it's ok for me Lol xx
I’m a bit confused at how one can decat an exhaust and pass an MOT’s emissions check?

DSC off by personal choice or is that something that will now show up forever because of the mods?
Was out of choice to get the best launch - every function of the car works as normal after the mods
@@tjscotton cheers. Desperate to fit BBR cams and ITBs to my Mazda 6
Pretty cool upgrades. Maybe you could feature something like a, er, oh I don't know, some kind of Mercedes next time! :)
This could quite possibly be in the pipeline
@@tjscotton Or a Saab 9-3 convertible :)
What buckets seats do u have? Out of interest how tall are you 😂
220-250 is the sweet spot for these

250hp?
😎
Supercharger video already???? Where's the build-up????
Nice things.................. (you're welcome 😉)
Live fast, dye hair.
If everyone had a supercharger on there car every car would be fun. Turbo cars are boring
Sell mx5, add 5k to budget, buy 350z.
