Bruce was excellent as a player, his 'Dolly and Daisy" partnership with Pally was formidable.

If you read Alex Ferguson’s autobiography, he says that his first team was built around Steve Bruce and then the second was set up around Rio Ferdinand.
As a footballer, Bruce is very underrated.

your so right. i always wondered why he never got capped much for england, and he was defo a better player than people think. he was a footballer, who played at the back, did his job and helped the forwards get on with scoring the goals. nowadays its not so much footballers its athleteballers

As a Newcastle fan, Bruce wasnt given the best start and granted, his tactics and man management was left to desired. As a person he seems great and probably felt fortunate to be living the dream managing his boyhood club as a Lifelong Geordie. I wish him all the best 👍

got to love this man, and this podcast i could sit and ask ask him questions all day, so interesting hearing a man utd legend in this relaxed atmosphere, telling us how his journey began and everything so far. we all ould have loved to play professionally, captain man utd and others, managed teams and he comes across as just like the normal person u meet in a bookies, a bar or in the street.

Thinks he did a decent job with Newcastle keeping them in the division - He had Shar, Willock, Joelinton, Saint Maximin, Wilson, Longstaff - Key players to finish top 4 - not just survive relegation!

Had to laugh when he talked about Fergie's work ethic and how he took that with him into management, he must have ditched that when he got to Newcastle because he hardly had players in for training, he went on holiday at the drop of a hat certainly had no work ethic at that stage.

Called Howe “the manager who got Bournemouth relegated” but apparently recommended him. Didn’t leave the club like a man and instead decided to squeeze whatever money he could out the club. There is a reason why very view fans of his former clubs have anything good to say about him.

As a Newcastle fan one thing I love about Steve Bruce is nothing negative he has done throughout his whole career is his own fault, all you need to say about Bruce to know what type of person he is is, (Villa Birmingham) (Sunderland Newcastle) when money comes a calling

He didn't give the Newcastle job up at all, he wanted to be sacked so he could be paid off the doylem and he didn't recommend Eddie Howe at all. What a narcissistic man he is. We would have been relegated if he kept in charge, he wasn't good enough and players were becoming unfit.

When Alan Shearer says firmly and unequivocally, 'No!', when asked if he regrets going to United, he's completely not believable. I am sure he was proud and an honoured to play for his boyhood club but also he could have won a huge amount with United and you know it rankles.

Easily our best ever manager at Hull City. Too generous towards the owner, who got mired in a bitter fight with the supporters when he tried to change the club name on a whim.

A deluded narcissist. He got such an easy time from the fans at Newcastle yet the media spun a narrative of constant abuse. I can’t get my head around it. As a season ticket holder there was barely a murmur in St James’ after the innumerable awful performances and despite the fact it felt like he actively goaded the fans at times.
He’s had far worse treatment at other clubs he’s managed. But he tapped into the bizarre, untrue media narrative to play the victim, sobbing in interviews over comments on social media that he apparently has no understanding of, all while his bank manager hired a dump truck to bring his NUFC payoff cash in.
Then look what happened at his next job. The Baggies fans tried to give him the benefit of the doubt but it took a few months before they couldn’t wait to see the back of him.
His press conferences at Newcastle were painful. He didn’t have to wage war against the ownership like Ashley did but he also didn’t have to be such a mouthpiece and constant defender of them.
The way has conducted himself since he left Newcastle has made a lot of people who had some sympathy with him absolutely despise him.
Players didn’t train and weren’t fit, there were no tactics and he had no idea to utilise some of the decent players that he had at his disposal. He called excellent pros like Ritchie and when he called him out on it, he tried to have a scrap with him.
He’s a coward, a fraud, a bully, a charlatan and he plays the role of victim rather than looking at himself. He should be ashamed.
