Tori performs live to the backing track of the 101 Mix of A Sorta Fairytale on Gloria Hunniford's Open House daytime talk show, 2002.
(The '101 mix' was on the UK CD single, in addition to the regular radio edit of the album version. It added some 'shuffle' to the drums and a little more electric guitar)
Her voice sounded really nasal during the 2002 Tour with Band, but not here!! It sounds like her solo radio performances in 2002.. delightful..❤

Actually she is, though the piano might not be miced, she is still hitting the keys. There is definitely a playback, however she is still playing along to it regardless. And, you are right this hardly ever happens

It's got to be difficult for such a soulful artist to conform her intuitive skill into a promotional box. It's like caging the ocean, a horrible failing. Tori is brilliant and needs no promotion but it's sweet of her to play along for us mortals.
@fionasapple Sorry, I meant playing the song in a very literalist sense. Meaning, the artist singing along to pre-recorded vocals would be lip-syncing to an observer, but the artist is singing the song , physically.

It's obvious she IS playing the piano, but the backing track is turned up over it and the piano mic turned down thus just being able to hear the backing track.
she looks like angel, because she Is an angel, acutally:)
@rondra32 no she doesn't. the base line of the percussion and the other instruemtns are been playebacked, but the piano and the voice aren't.

The background with the percussion and guitars is definetly playback, but I think the voice and piano aren't.
