Curly girl here: I and a lot of other curly girls (most of the ones I’ve seen) actually like to do the opposite of what you mentioned! The wide tooth comb helps to get out big tangles in a way similar to using fingers and it can distribute conditioner, but a brush really helps bigger clumps to form. Like, a wide tooth comb separates the hair and makes clumps smaller, but a brush sort of...mushes it all together if that makes sense. So a lot of us start with wide tooth and then finish with a more gentle brush to form clumps and style!

Shannen Angell I use a Denman brush on conditioned, detangled hair to distribute product and form clean clumps with no webbing.

When I was little I rolled a round brush all the way up to the top of my head and my mom had to cut the bristles off to get it out of my hair... I think I have a little bit of PTSD from that and I don't use round brushes. 😅

Kayley! Could you please do a video on the different types of bangs (curtain, side swept, blunt, etc) and the face shapes they flatter? I’ve had every kind of fringe under the sun and still am a little lost as far as which looks best. Right now I have curtain bangs and I’m still deciding if I like it or if I want to grow them out again 🤔 Thank you!!

    Teasing brushes are interesting...
so I used them all the time for competitive cheerleading comp hair. I don't know if you have ever seen this kind of hair but it looks absolutely crazy to non-cheerleaders. But, the teasing brushes were the absolute best for achieving a perfectly medium tease. It wasn't too puff ball, and not too ratty tangle kind of look. The best way I figured out to use it was to hold the hair more towards the middle and do several small strokes back and forth because we only needed the upper third of our hair to be teased while the rest of it needed to either be straight or curled. Then we needed to lightly go over the top sections to make sure it looked smooth. I hope this helps

Hey Kayley - I was just wondering if you have any tips on how to get lint out of hair brushes if it builds up around each individual bristle and hasn’t come off when removing the hair? Has happened a few times and the only way I’ve found is using a hair pin and doing each bristle manually - which both hurts the hands and takes hours. This is a very useful video x

I went to work on my own embarrassing hairbrush right after watching, but a day after washing it I noticed that there's water trapped inside the cushion that holds the bristles (should have seen that one coming...)
