Hi Weird History! I LOVE Campbell's Soup, especially their chicken noodle, tomato, and cream of mushroom soups! My favorite Campbell's recipe is fried cauliflower that uses the cream of mushroom soup, and it is delicious! I hope one day you'll do a video on mascots voiced by famous actors/voice actors, as there's a lot of different mascots with famous voices. For example the 70s animated version of Jack from Jack In The Box [sadly only three ads and three comics with him are on UA-cam, but I'm thankful we even have them], as well as his friends the Jack In The Box Bunch were voiced by none other then Tigger himself: Paul Winchell, who also invented the artificial heart. Frito Kid was voiced by Richard Beals who also did Speedy Alka-Seltzer and various other cartoon voices. Twinkie the Kid and the other Hostess Snack Cake characters were voiced by Allen Swift, who first started on the Howdy Doody Show, but ended up doing a huge amount of voice work for cartoons, notably Underdog, Popeye and Sesame Street sketches. I've always been interested in learning about mascots, especially if they have a famous voice actor.

There's a reason why I use canned soup to treat my POTS condition, I need 10g of sodium per day and two cans of Campbell's would immediately stop my symptoms thanks to having over 5g of sodium in total. It's a super food to me, but super bad to others.
im pretty simple, cream of tomato and chicken noodle. i do remember when i was younger cream of mushroom was a healthy staple, later on i cooked with cream of celery in a few recipes. i would take a can of chunky, add a few more things to it and that was lunch at work the next day. the only downside was my sodium intake, it was high but the flavor made it worthwhile. ive tried the low sodium versions - no thanks. i cook alot and use their soups as additional flavor. my #1 soup has to be tomato, my daughter loves it and a night with a big bowl and a couple grilled cheese sandwiches with her in front of the tv keep me hoping they never stop making it.

"My favorite Campbell's recipe is fried cauliflower that uses the cream of mushroom soup, and it is delicious!"
You wouldn't happen to have a link to that recipe, would you? Sounds interesting.
@@melasnexperience Unfortunately, you can't really send links on UA-cam, but I did find the fried cauliflower recipe on the official Campbell's website!
Anyone else remember when you would open the can of tomato soup and it would come out in one whole can-shaped blob? That used to crack me up as a child.
That's exactly how I want condensed soup to come out of the can. Saves me from holding the can upside down for five minutes trying to scrape it all out.
It also was much better then. Now it's red corn syrup.
@@danielsee1 it contains no corn syrup. It contains tomato puree, wheat flour, sugar, less than 2% salt, natural flavoring, citric acid, asorbic acid, mopotassium phosphate, celery extract, garlic oil. *contains wheat*
Thanks for adding actual captions for the Deaf
I love Tom soup Campbells and Heinz soup as well, I love them both so it is very hard to choose between them.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
0:39 "Soup Nazi" (Season 7, Episode 6) is a classic Seinfeld episode, love it!
My mom has every Campbell's Kids Christmas ornament they produced 1983 - 2019
Enjoying some Campbell's Tomato Soup while I check out this weird food history.😎😋😁
Iam love campbell cream mushroom soup só good
The football poster guy was funny to me for some reason 🤣
As a senior that lives only with a cat, Campbell's is a quick easy fix for dinner. I also like the variety of choices. I can't really pick a favorite.
You guys should do a video on the history of American school lunches, or one on the history of college lunches
Unrelated to this video, but could you do a video on the history of marshmallows and fluff (the New England food)? Love Weird History and Weird History food! ❤
Growing up I had several favorites Chicken and Rice, vegetable soup aka alphabet soup, tomato soup and split pea with ham. Chunky soup I have four go to soups New England Clam Chowder, Manhattan Clam Chowder, Corn Chowder and Chicken and Dumplings.
There’s probably enough material for a mini-series on Orson Welles’ battles with food companies, as well as brands he partnered with. He even appeared in a Peeps ad!
Had a truck driver I’ve hauled and eaten plenty of campbell soup. I really like the mushroom soup
good video
0:11 Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches is what we make before Nebraska games.
Used to get drunk and eat cream of chicken right out of the Can!
I Like First Original Art Style Wish The Company Stay In That Art Style
I don't eat soup much but when i do i go for the chunky soup.
One can Campbell's Tomato Soup. 1/2 can water. One glorious Grilled Cheese Sandwich. LUNCH!!
Many times, when companies take away something, they have increase something else sooo... You will never hear low-calorie and low-fat etc, uttered in the same breathe.
I made the mistake of reading the ingredient list on their tomato soup can about 9 years ago, and discovered that high fructose corn syrup was one of them. I haven't eaten it since.
We ran out of our restaurant's signature French onion soup on a busy night...so we opened some Campbells...the customers didn't know the difference...
Your restaurant just happened to stock canned soup you don't use?
@@MrJoshcc600 It was also our home.
I learn so much here. For example, I have never eaten Campbell's soup. In fact, I haven't seen it in shops since I was a child.
I was wondering, whatever happened to the stuff.
It's literally sold in every store that sells groceries....where the hell are you shopping?
Where do you live? It’s in every store - even convenience stores! There are huge displays in the soup aisles
@@greywater3186 We don't have stores. We have Shops. Are you North American? The most popular Soup Brand is "Baxters". Then it would be "Crosse & Blackwell". Finally "Batchelors".
Honestly, "Campbells" is not everywhere. We had it when I was a child, then 'poof', it was gone.
@@tomsenior7405 Yes, North American. I take it you’re Scottish? Campbell’s and the removal from shelves probably had something to do with distribution issues. That’s just a guess. Either that or Campbell’s has poisonous ingredients that are banned in the EU / your particular country and couldn’t be bothered to update their recipes?
@@greywater3186 You may well be correct about ingredients. A lot of North American foodstuffs cause issues when they explore new markets. I did not know who Chef Boyardee was, until I started watching this show. I was genuinely amused by the astonished responses I got when I first revealed this little titbit. There is a big world out there. Irn-Bru and Barr's are my choice over coke. Dandelion & Burdock or Vimto rest alongside Stella Artois in my fridge/larder. And Scotch Whisky is more popular than Whiskey.
When it comes to tinned soups, the main consumers seem to be old ladies, Students and the unfortunate souls who have been forced to use foodbanks.
Heinz Baked Beans (Made in England) are a staple breakfast necessity. A Full Monty (An English Breakfast) is not complete without Baked Beans. I understand that American Baked Beans are laced with sugar, syrup or molasses? Please let me know if I am wrong.
Very Best Wishes to you,
Fun fact my grandma is actually related to the campbells family
I clean myself in the shower with soup and water.
I had no idea how old this company is! Nothing like tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich😋
Thank you
Love tomato but the others I mostly use for cooking!
Being from Portugal, never had one....got to try it (when I find it for sale..)
Still one of the best grocery store products in the US sold today.
I was kinda hoping you'd mention something about Heartwood College, which a while back was bought by the heir of Campbell's
Do they still make oyster stew, it was really good. I ate it at my Grandma's as a kid. I also love chicken n stars but I think they quit making it.
I'm 52 and would often buy C's Oyster Stew soup. In FL, 🛒 I don't recall seeing it in 3-4 years.
@@DavidLLambertmobile I hope they bring it back because it was really good.
My favorite soup was Scotch Broth, the only commercial soup I can remember containing Lamb.
I don't want no fancy "gourmet" cream of tomato soup. Give me a bowl of Campbell's tomato soup!
You have a great narrator voice. ✌️
All of this talk about beef steak makes me think of the Cat Stevens song! Haha!
The RED label is important- it's eye-catching, and some of the biggest food brands are red. Coca-Cola, Heinz, and McDonald's are another examples.
The colors red, orange, brown, yellow make you hungry. Green and blue make you less hungry. This is why QSRs use colors like red, orange, brown. Arby's Mcds BK, dunkin, Popeyes, KFC.
I just bought a daze cans of Campbell condensed soups earlier today including tomato and chicken noodle.
Thank god! It’s the dude! 👍
Ahh yes. This is what I’m slumming it at the bottom of the comments to find. I don’t know why, but I’m always compelled to ask: what the heck is wrong with you people?
@@DMacB42WN😂
My quibble with Campbell's is the split pea soup . I always have a hard time getting the product out of the can.
They still make it? I haven't seen split pea soup on the shelves in ages.
@@essaboselin5252 it pops up every now and then
@BillInTheBox Probably a regional thing, then. I'm in the Mid-Atlantic region. It's been years since I've seen a can of it.
@essaboselin5252 I have not seen "Oyster Stew" is a few years. I think C quit making it 🥣.
