Technically speaking, the KJ is a un, just like the XJ, ZJ, and WJ. There are some distinct differences between a un and a unibody. AMC developed the un in the early 80's when it was designing the XJ and ZJ. Chrysler kept this design when it developed the WJ and KJ. Its cool to see this build progressing, I really like it.
And not needing to drive 3 hours to get it was sweet! Thankful for Janelle 💕! It’s definitely a bit more broken in than the original one (chain seems noticeably looser), but the seller seemed confident it would last - either way, I have a solid backup if a rebuild is needed 😅
Couple times there I heard some Gump in Ben’s voice. I can’t vote this year Love the pacer racer Love liberty biberty Love the mini monstr Love the Willy’s Love the defender - didn’t like the Jeep truck so much And the dodguar is kinda cool too. This year is pretty cool in general
All of my brackets came as part of link kits from Artec Industries. Made all the suspension geometry pretty straight forward…at $400 it was an easy decision for a budget build like this one. artecindustries.com/products/easy-4-link-kit-b-triangulated-adjustable-uppers?variant=41410918744270
A few steps closer to being done. seems like you have cut off almost as much metal as you have welded back on. Granted what you've welded back on is a bit heaver thicker metal.
Correct, an early JK/JKU (07-11) NP241, or a late TJ NP241OR will also work based on the research I did. I would have loved to have a 4:1 ratio instead of a 2.72:1 ratio, but this was fast and easy. Shift pattern and shifter changes are not something I wanted to deal with right now and I couldn’t find a 241 for less than $1,300 and this option was only $300.
Wish I would have known that you were looking for a transfer case for your Liberty I have to transfer cases for the Liberty that are the 231 version that I would have sold you for 100 to help the budget.
I really wanted a NP241OR, but man….they are expensive! They ranged from $1,300-$1,800 depending on condition 😓 If I decide I like this rig enough to swap in another case, I’ll probably spend the money to pop in an Atlas and get the same 5:1 ratio I have in MM.
Good to have friends that know what they are doing.
Yeah! I Love Ben from JK Gear and Gadgets!!!

What brackets did you use for the links to unibody ?

Holley you said rock crawler. I thought you guys were building overlanders
👍🏽🇺🇸👍🏽
a whole "bottle" of gas? 😂
Starting to look like a crawler. You’ll be overlanding before you know it.

@MischiefMakerTV Yes, a ruby case would be great for the money. I'm still running the 231 in my sas liberty.
