Ryu is the fundamental character to bait and punish with high damage. His options to initiate offense are too limited to make him a “top tier” in SF6, but if you’re a solid player that knows how to exploit a the ridiculous amount of gimmicks that other characters have in this game, you can be absolutely devastating with Ryu
So proud. Always knew a Ryu could do it, and now we have a pro with the GUTS, to main Ryu and win tournaments. Stop taking the easy way out. Every character in this game has the ability to win. MenaRD switching from Blanka, or Kakeru switching from JP shows frailty in their skills because of nerfs to their characters. Get it done. Carry the character. Don't get carried.
His Ryu could still be optimized a lot more, there were several scenarios where he could’ve taken more combo routes, but Kusanagi definitely gave us a masterclass in fundamentals and neutral. It’s not the character, but the player

I think problem with Ryu is that hes supposed to pop from having better fundamentals than your opponent but his normals are inside this box, mid dr, takes ton of resources to get your offensive going, ok fireballs, and finally akuma is just better in everything minus the health, the character is good but honestly i would have liked to capcom to tone the damage down little bit and give him better footspeed more forward moving normals and those kind of things.
@@glorflindel33He is tf? Neutral is easier to play with Ken, and he has overall better corner carry tools which makes your pressure insane. Xiaohai has always been a Cammy main tho. And the fact that he can turned the situation after losing 2-0 shows his Cammy was solid. Kusanagi was just that insane after the reset, and made all the right decisions.
In my opinion Ryu has an easier time against bison because he doesn't have od reversal. The reason you want an od reversal is so that you can catch Ryu in the middle of some fake pressure or resets like collarbone Breaker. Without a OD Reversal, a character has to rely on using their super to get out of a situation like that. And not only that, but since bison requires you to be close to do damage, it also opens up some opportunities for Ryu to counter attack. If this was boxing, Ryu and bison would both be considered in fighters, except bison has to charge to beat a fireball which can be predictable sometimes. If bison doesn't charge, then he doesn't beat Ryu at long range, which opens up possibilities for Ryu to fireball > drive rush. With Cammy, you can still beat fireball without charging by doing dive kicks or spin knuckle. Although dive kick is probably more preferable bc you can also just fake a jump in and make Ryu whiff a DP. Bison also has to set up his psycho mine which does very little damage in the grand scheme of things. And then he has to commit to a set of specific combos to make use of it. Cammy has more consistent damage and gimmicks to open up opportunities
