On Today’s Motorcycle Therapy, Jeremy Kroeker and Elle West reach the end of the road in South America after seven months of riding. Jeremy, on his Kawasaki KLR 650, and Elle on her BMW GS 700, finally reach Ushuaia and find themselves ... very tired.
Big news! Jeremy’s second book, Through Dust and Darkness, is now available as an audiobook. Get a free copy when you sign up for an Audible account.

When Elle and I got stuck in Uruguay due to border closures from COVID 19, we got kicked out of several hotels (there are videos on my channel about that). The one thing that saved us was the use of AirBnb. If you’re thinking about listing your place with them, consider using the following link to create an account. It will get you a small cash bonus, and it will make me a cash bonus too, at no cost to you. We both win!

😂 No good motorcycle story is complete without a tear gas component. 😂 Great video! What a massive accomplishment. 👏👏
Indeed. I alluded to it in the video, but this is the second big motorcycle trip in which I have experienced a little teargas.
Wow.. what an accomplishment! Congratulations.
Thanks! It was a great year on the road. (Well, at least until we got stuck for a few months at the end.) 😎
Excellent stuff guys! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! And, again, thanks so much for your great tutorial on the fuel pump video. Elle replaced it! (Bike still doesn't work because ... separate problem.)
No worries! Glad it was of use. Just ask if there’s anything you think I can help with. 😎👍🏻
Indeed a weird feeling turning around and riding north after Ushuiia. Thanks for the visit today Jeremy!
Good to see you. I’m glad I met you in Panama all those years ago.
I am so glad that you got to Ushia before the lockdowns.
Me too. We just slid in under the wire. It’s probably the reason we got such an amazing deal on our trip to Antarctica - in the early days, some people were forced to cancel travel plans at the last moment.
great video............hellos from georgia USA
Thanks for watching! Greetings.
Too funny!! Must have been late 2019 - early 2020... We got tear-gassed at the brewery one night as well. You never forget that smell!
Yup. It was early 2020. I’ve experienced tear gas in my travels before, in the Middle East. It’s getting to be a familiar feeling. (Oh, and bear spray. I’ve weirdly experienced that more than once as well.)
Love hanging out with you two.
Call me a sap but I felt it when you both were describing the end of the road. Maybe cuz I can relate.
Great video again.....till next time 👍🏻
Cheers!
Thanks for watching. Yeah, we got hit with the nostalgia when filming. Lots of emotions. As for the stickers ... something went wrong for sure. $65? Maybe you clicked on the link to the NFT? Because, I don't actually have stickers for sale anywhere online. If you send me a pm on Twitter or Instagram, I might be convinced to send you out a sticker for a much better price. :-)
@@JeremyKroeker sorry, my goof up. I’ll send ya a DM on the ole insta. Thanks!
Love it. Congratulations!
Thanks so much!
Loved the Elle gymnastics at the end of the road. I would so love to do this trip, but I hate wind so much... I just don't think I could handle it.
That wind was otherworldly. Yet … I’d go again. 😎
@@JeremyKroeker But what does Elle say? Because her reaction at the time - it's so "me", I think we're the same person.
Jeremy and Elle hope you guys are doing well and have the opportunity to travel this summer! It’s great to listen to the stories of your adventures! What a major accomplished to ride to Ushuaia! What adventures do you have planned for the future?
Elle won't be riding much this summer because she's super busy with work. I'll be out on the weekends, mostly, and all of August. As for future adventures, we are in the discussions and dreaming phase. We're not sure where we'll go next but, alas, it won't be for a few years. It takes us a while to build up the funds. But we're working on it!
Looking forward to the Antarctica episode! After visiting / living in Patagonia since 2004, I still haven't managed to make the trip. Good call on pulling the trigger!!
Believe me, it was not an easy decision to pull the trigger. We really couldn’t afford it at the time. But, I’m so glad we went, especially since our journey radically changed due to border closures immediately after we got back.
Hi Elle and Jeremy,
just found your channel so I will have a lot more watching to do. Makes me happy!!🤩
I have decided to ride Alaska - Ushuaia in 2026 (yes, that is still a long way ahead but I finally put a date on it rather than keep on pushing it forward for all that time).
2026 also means 20 years after I rode Belgium - Tanzania and the year when I turn 60 so it is all symbolic 🙂.
I also watched your video about crossing from Central to South America. Some - but not many - have done it overland, crossing the Darian Gap. Do you know of anyone who did that?
Also, would you mind sharing what you paid for the three days of sailing to Cartagena?
Thanks in advance and always welcome in Albuquerque, New Mexico,
Jan
Hi Jan. Welcome to the channel! I can’t remember precisely what we paid, but I think it was in the neighbourhood of $1,500 USD per person, including motorcycle. (Elle has a better head for numbers, I’ll check with her.) That seemed expensive at first, but it included three nights accommodation and food, plus all the headaches of paperwork handled. It turned out to be a bargain in my mind, and an absolute trip highlight! Sadly, the boat we used - the Stahlratte - no longer does this run. It has new owners and (I think) it now sails in Europe somewhere. As for crossing the Gap by land with motorcycle, yes, it has been done. No, I don’t know anyone who has done it. But all the reading I’ve done and podcasts I’ve heard suggest that this is an arduous journey, to put it lightly. Keep on researching, and good luck with your decisions and adventures! Here’s a link to an article where a few people did cross the Gap by land with bikes. (This is not intended to discourage you in any way. It’s not a current article, as conditions may have changed. It’s just an adventure story pertinent to your questions.)

@@JeremyKroeker Thanks for all the information, Jeremy. I had watched the link you sent me but I must have banned it to somewhere totally at the back of my head. Reading it again, I don't think there is no need to kill myself in the Darien Gap only for the sake of 'doing the whole road overland'. A bit of common sense is needed on great adventures!
Indeed. You will find plenty of adventure (and probably adversity) even if you don’t seek it out. Have fun with the research. I’m excited for you!
