Everything about The Lost Boys was awesome...the soundtrack, the cast, the movie itself... absolute perfection! These are my all time favorite vampires...for sure!
@@shawnross2186 Familiar with both and because of the concert for Freddie, at one time I would have gone for Elton and George but a few years after it aired I finally got my hands on this awesome soundtrack and there is just something of an inward pouring of emotion on Roger's version, that is (for a very good reason) an outward display of emotions on the E and G version. Roger's for me resonates more as finding strength as you struggle through life song. The E and G version is an ode to a life sadly passed. While I'm still alive it's Roger's battle cry I need. Both good versions
+Zac M it was amazing. but it was no way near as good as the lost boys! This movie is still fantastic. I find that near dark seems to have aged worse XD
It's so cool to hear other people say they love this song so much, Lost Boys was an amazing film for its time and this final song topped it off perfectly. 27 years later and this song takes me back to being 12 again. Live....dream....x
I love the whole soundtrack album. This song and Beauty has Her Way, Cry Little Sister and the rest are so good. Roger Daltrey does an amazing job on this Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me.
I grew up in the 80's and it was far better than you could ever imagine. I'm not just saying that because I'm an old nostalgic dreamer; I really anticipated something better and was looking forward to it, but we all know how that turned out. I don't mind sharing my youth with you young folks that were robbed. plenty to go around and then some.
same here, great movies, concerts, music, the beach, road trips, first experiences, high school and college...holy shit it WAS good, definitely missing those days...and have always loved this version of this song, Daltrey sounds great...
My all time favorite movie and what a fitting song. When I saw this movie I wanted so bad to be a vampire, I thought these ones were the coolest!!!! The sequels that followed did no justice for this movie. The original was and will always be the greatest. So many good memories . The 80s was the best....
The ending portion of this song and that guitar. I miss music and movies being made the way they did in the 80s. Good storytelling, as well as those guitar riffs, sound so good and emotional that you are put into a mental sense of nirvana.
I sometimes play the outro at sound-check, it's so simple, and yet such a cool riff. The version that we hear in the recording is actually an isolation track of the riff that has been heard throughout the whole song.
Maybe that's what it was. Mental nirvana. All I know was I was a child the last time a movie made me feel like that (somewhere around 2003 or 2004) and as a kid, I sadly lacked the vocabulary to describe the feeling despite being pretty smart. I was born in 1992 so until 2003 or so, I assumed all movies would give me that feeling all my life. When it suddenly stopped, I was bewildered and confused for a while.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE. POINT BREAK MOST PEOPLE SAID IT WAS ARTIFICIAL BUT IT REPRESENTED THE 90,s AS LOST BOYS REPRESENTED THE 80,s SO GREAT. I LOVED THE 80's GREAT MOVIE !!!
Much as Elton John’s version of this is a beautiful song I’ve long considered this an absolute banger of a cover version though I’m certainly biased as it formed a soundtrack of my childhood and the Eighties vibes that run through it fill me with so much nostalgia and memories of teenage discos and fleeting romances not to mention the iconic film which still remains a cult classic and the epitome of being a teenager and idolising Kiefer with his awesome haircut and gang of bloodsuckers … … huh, but that was then and it’s 2024 now and such days are far behind me despite the soundtrack and film still reigning supreme. Sadly the hair is barely there so no spiky mullets for me. But it was great trying to live like a vampire, so thanks Joel, Corey and all those who are no longer here. And relax, they’re only noodles!
Roger Daltrey is a GREAT singer and this version proves it. This is so different from what he did with The Who it's almost like he's a different singer. Fantastic.
RIP Corey Haim, Edward Herrman, and Brooke McCarter...Also l think Roger Daltery's version is much better than Elton John's and George Michael's version...Hands down
This was an amazing song to finish an amazing movie which influenced so many young adults of the 80s. We dreamed of the future not realising the 80s was the future. We all wanted to live forever back then. Now I no longer want to live forever but do when I hear tunes like this
The best version o this song, I love Elton John, but Roger puts so much into this song and then musically they make it a bigger song, all around everyone who did what they did to make it this good, awesome job
I was born exactly three months after this movie's release. It's been one of my favorites since the Winter of 2006 when I first watched it. I've watched it about 30 times since and now again just recently; as I ordered it online, the VHS English & VHS in French. This song, this movie, the 80's generation is what I'm all about. The time when I myself spawned into existence. Simply breathless, just wow. I love all of you, and sooner or later, some sooner than later, you will all understand what life is all about. Audio extracts like this stimulates your inner truth, salvages you, and sends you to the answers you've seeked until now. Bless yourself.
This should have been included on the Elton John tribute album "Two Rooms" Its a brilliantly produced cover of a classic tune that never got the airplay it deserved.

I recently played the outro of this version at sound-check, and my lead singer came up to me and asked is that "Eyes Without a Face", by Billy Idol/Steve Stevens, and I replied, "No, It' Reb Beach's outro to, Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" at the end of the Lost Boys movie.. He walked away... This is the shit.
I was 1st introduced to The Lost Boys around age 10. My big brother brought home a VCR tape that contained The Lost Boys & Return Of The Living Dead. Roger Daltrey can take any song and generate pure emotion! He's one of a kind!
Without question the best version of this song. Briliant vocals by Daltrey!
Benny Lockhart - clearly you are not capable of a mature dialogue. I assume you are just stupid or 12 years old.
