Nice work! Always a good feeling hearing the first fire. I have a 2004, It didn’t seem to be idling excessively high if you had the choke on. I think once you have it buttoned down and put that rest of the muffler on you will be good to go.(assuming your carb is clean) I can’t remember did you do a compression check on it before you messed with the valves?
I love your videos and have been binge watching for a while now. I have finished all of your Playlist videos and see that you still have way more videos. My only request is to continue updating you playlist to make it convenient for lazy people like me to see a project all the way through without skipping around trying to find the next sequence. Thank you for sharing, you’re Awesome!
The speed ups when your putting bolts in or doing something that can be sped up is a fantastic change, makes watching more enjoyable to watch, good change to video production!
That is gonna be a thumper . Strong engine . They run a pretty low compression ratio. Probably could get 10 more horse with a high compression piston. I think the only deal with those quads is the weight . But I think you might get a second gear wheelie on asphalt with that sweet 650. Tons of torque. My neighbor had one.
It’s CanAm, they are weird lol. I had a 79’ Qualifier 250, called it the magic pumpkin, heavy but they made good power, big $ now too 🙄 I should have kept it but life makes us accumulate too much stuff I guess.
I bought one in 2001 was one of the most expensive quads you could get then at $7200. What a beast of a machine hurt my back and ended up selling it. You can find some old info about them gearing them down to bring them into the states by putting on the original sprockets instead of the ones they came with in the states they are a much faster atv.
Great video! Currently going to school for powersports and have bought and sold over a hundred quads and sxs's. I just found your channel not to long ago and glad I did very entertaining to watch all the projects your working on! Currently working on a few of my own projects myself. Are you able to show a little more on the electrical side of things like how to bipass certain stuff? Thanks for the video keep it up!
Man buy a nice Jumpbox...I own a detail shop for 15 years...and got a garage full of toys...the 1st 5 years I was buying cheap $100 dollar jumpboxs ...dont last a year...I finally bought a commercial heavy duty one for $450 about 8 years ago...its been behind the front seat in my truck since I bought it...cant tell you how many times its came in clutch for me and everyone around me! I can pull it out now and start 3 dead tractor trailers ,6 dirtbikes and then pump up 4 flat tires with it...then put it behind my seat plug it back in my aux and it's ready again in a few hrs...I leave it plugged in my truck and it's at 100% ...100% of the time....i use it all the time! I haven't swapped a battery or used a set a cables in 9 years...worth its weight in gold!
This same thing with the engine revving really high instantly happened to me on one of my builds and it happened to be an exhaust leak so I’d check that too after the carb is clean also check for any air leaks as well
Lack of fuel maybe causing high idle too 👀 like when your riding and start to run out of fuel she would rev up just before empty. Similar concept with minimal fuel in the lines. Worth a go?
Love your channel. I rebuilt a 77 honda elsonar 125. Started it up first time reveed all the way up. 🤦♂️. I put the piston in backwards. O well. Learning lesson. Keep up the great work
bro, good video, I need help, I have a similar motorcycle and I need to know how to put it on time, for example when the lines of the camshafts are aligned where the magneto has to be, please help
What's funny about most, if not all these 'will-it-run' pieces I see from all the one's that do them, the item in question usually doesn't need a lot to get them going again. Junkyard Digs got a 3 wheeler going had been sitting for years, and all it needed was a carb rebuild pretty much. That was the only thing wrong with it. It's amazing the money that people throw away, and only because they can't be bothered with doing a little maintenance...good job on that four wheeler by the way...now you just gotta get it to idle...
The trouble is with the 'will it run after so many years' is the state of the engine inside. Most of the people like Junkyard Digs, Vice Grip Garage etc get an old vehicle, get it running and hey presto. CT got the swamp ford running but when they stripped the engine down, it was a mess in there. What is inside the engines of all the others that are just started after a lot of years standing. Now many cars has VGG sold that have stuff inside the engine that cant be seen ?. There are some who strip down properly and check and there are the cowboys who get something running and sell to make a fast buck.
@@ianallen2 This i can agree with, i've been working on a 200sx for about 3 weeks, slowly restoring it to its former glory (or well, close to it.) and it ran pretty good but smoked like hell when i first started it. Now, i could've completely disreguarded the smoke and idled it down and drove it, but i'm glad i tore it down and did a "proper" rebuild. Honed out the cylinder, new rings. new gaskets and a complete cleaning, after running so rough and about to be junked, the machine starts in 2 pulls and runs like a honda. you literally cant kill them.
My neighbor and I just rebuilt 2 650cc Rotax but 4x4 models and Polaris recommends you don't reuse head bolts. Maybe that why that one felt like it was going to strip.
So I bought an 03’ can’t figure out for the life of me why it won’t start.. your videos have been super helpful. I wish you would have made a follow up after you rode it and the oil light still wouldn’t go out. Great work as always.

I would say the oil bleeder is there for if the engine was completely stripped down and the oil pump has to be primed. The oil pump should still have oil in it after an oil drain.
@@briankennedy5578 I think you should read the manual. You only need to bleed the pump if the red light does not go out. That indicates there is no oil pressure. A normal oil and filter change should not reqire it to be bled as oil will still be in the pump. Read it and weep www.can-amforum.com/threads/changing-oil-on-a-2001-ds-650.30284/
Hey man I Got a 2005 bombardier ds650 for a “if you get it running you can have it” so that’s what I did so... free quad minus the price for what i spent for parts but it’s a extremely reliable quad and it goes fast I got it when there was only 2 hours on it and the owner before me had it just sit for 10 whole Years then I saved it from its pain but still really good quad kinda hard to find videos of them recent my so I got excited when this came on my recommended keep up the good work
