As much as I like the A500, i'd recommend an A600 if you're opting for non AGA, simply because it's easier to upgrade and much smaller. Thank you, i'm glad you're enjoying these :o)
hmmm yeah I thought about getting an AGA model too.. but then again i don't wanna change or upgrade too much. Maybe just adding an CF Harddrive but leaving the whole machine more or less untouched. And weren't the A600 models already ESCOM models?
No i meant upgrade as in ad a CF card even, the A600 and A1200 have an IDE port, the A500 no, you'd have to get some other adaptor for it, even if you eventually wanted a memory upgrade (you need at least 4mb for WHDload games to run) ... A600 is Commodore :o) Some of the later A1200s were Escom though

I also have an issue where after a while WinUAE (it worked reliably before) stopped loading CF cards as Amiga readable SCSI devices (tried 3 cards, one of them was known to work in a real Amiga). The WinUAE Amiga instance would not register any SCSI devices in HD Toolbox and sometimes HDToolbox would hang or crash. I noticed that the CF card was being reported as "[UNK]" in WinUAE as seen in your video when adding it (this is despite using Diskpart to clean it each time), however I believe in your other video you mentioned it should be listed as "(RDB)" for it to be picked up by the Amiga HDToolbox. I found I could boot from the CF card and have its contents listed if it already been partitioned in HDToolbox but a clean CF just would not register. I actually put the USB3 card reader into a new USB3 port and then my CF cards were picked up as "(RDB)" and the WinUAE Amiga could then register it as a SCSI device but not long after they started being registered as "[UNK]". I think I`ll give up lol

Ms Mad Lemon ooh I do. I grew up with ZX Spectrums and was insanely passionate about the Amiga in my teens. Did an A1200 tower conversion. recently built a Amiga 600 pi amiga with Amibian. And have a few other raspberry pi and amiga projects on the go :) I'm not well known as I'm a bit quiet on the scene but i have a whole room full of retro computers all set up and working :)

I love Amiga!, I used to have a 500 back in the day and I composed a lot of music with protracker. Like you I very recently got an Amiga 1200 with CF card and ACA Accelerator. It's soo much fun!! I tried to prepare a 16 gb cf card but I get errors when I transfer files in Winuae so I guess it's not Amiga compatible.
Amiga is great! .. hmm the 16gb should be fine if you're using the pfs file system, maybe a syou said it may not be compatible, though if it's not, i'd expect it not to be recognized. I hope you manage to get it working nontheless and start enjoying the Amiga again!
I tried pfs3 and sfs too and I tried with different patched scsi.device files from ClassicWB but I still get errors when copying files. Maybe I did something wrong. I have a 4gb card installed and it works fine fortunately :)
When doing the Install Drive part for partitioning the CF card I had to perform the Install Drive twice ("New" to overwrite the previous) before the "Partition Drive" menu would appear.
i followed the instructions and i did this to the main server at work , but they are not happy and say i cannot come to work anymore!, what did i do wrong? did i need a bigger card?

Despite having my "setup drive" named HD0 label "Amiga" I just could not boot into WB once I had partitioned the CF card DH0 drive and set it as bootable. When selecting to boot from HD0 and even disabling DH0 in the startup menu would always try to boot to the unformatted DH0. This was becuase of the boot priority, the New bootable partition DH0 has the same low priority "0" as the WinUAE boot drive HD0 so I had to change that to higher boot prioity "1" in WinUAE. No idea if this is an Amiga or a WinUAE issue!
I remember when i bought AmigaOS3.5,(i was so excited... too bed kickstgart ROM were almost the same of the 3.1)but i don't remember if the update (OS3.9 like yours) were online or by the reseller with a reissue, but i think for the first optiion

I'm back again....😀Just you video....at first it didn't work as I could not start Winuae as administrator(there was a password)....so I copied all my Winuae setup onto another laptop....and it all works.... ready to go in my a600.....my brain is burnt out now lol Thank you
FFS can see bigger disks/partitions if you patch the scsi device. I don't use my self pfs on amigas with 040 and below. I think SFS is a better option with that cpus. The only thing you must do as an extra with SFS is to format the disk with the -norecycled option. You sould install the latest icon.library which accelerates the icon load a lot. Also try some patches like FBLIT and WPA8. They offer screen acceleration and move text and gfx to fast memory. Maprom is your friend. Cheers.
Aminet is down for some reason a couple of days now. If you eventually use fblit, read carefully the install instructions. WP8 is simpler. Try a full benchmark on AIBB and then after the patches installation try again. You'll see difference :-)

Hello, just to told you tank you for that tutorial wich were working directly against the receller who said it will not work with rom 3.0 ( of course I do not have put OS3.9 ) so it was a little bit expensive here for less than 15$ I have the adapte less than 4$ and un little CF 512 wich is enough for boot and some programs ( the rest is on my pcmcia bought to resseller very expensive 40$ ) so very good videos from you with good energie ( should be interested to exchange by tchat or mail if possible on technical points )

I take it PFS is much more stable than OFS and FFS? i found that while doing anything and yo loose power, you have ruined the file system on O/F FS? i still have nightmares about this! lol
Actually PFS will allow you to use a drive up to I think 32GB . where as OFS and FFS have a 4GB limit. Though i dont think i've ever used OFS on a hard drive, only FFS. lol nightmares about what?
I've just seen your channel and I've seen the love you give to your miggy. I'm Retrofan, the AKReal creator and I was searching a video -my videos su**- showing how to install PFS3. I made a guide time ago, but you know, it's always better a video than any text. I've just suscribed. BTW, a question: Have you tried/will you try at least on WinUAE my AKReal distro? . And also, I was thinking (just thinking) to give a link to this video in the AKReal site (it's actually stopped because of the incoming AKReal 9 update) because it seems a very nice explanation about how to install PFS3AIO and you know that there is very few about that. About the photo it is great. I love Technics and playing vinyl records. The pity is that I use to use 1024x768 and 800x600 images and also that I'm just finishing my actual update and God knows when I'll be making the next update. Another thing, just while watching the video: You formatted the CF and you installed it on WinUAE while booting an OS3.9. Then you install OS 3.9 over the new CF. Why? You can just copy all of the files in your booting OS3.9 system to the new CF HD. Edit: Well, forget it; you just want to show how to install OS3.9 on a new CF. A couple of questions more if you don't mind. Why do you install Spanish as language and also you write Adios at the end? I'm spanish, that's why I ask. As I say it's the first video of yours I watch, but I don't miss a bit of info of what I see, and I see that you've made a nice mini ITX PSU and you've taked the time to make a cut to put the A1200 logo. Wonderful job. I use ATX psu's inside Amiga psu cases. I like to add on the other side a blue voltimeter display. I intend on installing Amibian onto it once i've finished it off.. so kind of making a mini emulated Amiga, of course Id id this project before I bought a real Amiga again like in the olden days. I like emulation but nothing beats the original hardware :o)

@@gorgos100 are you struggling to get into the early boot menu in order to select the drive to boot? You have to be click both the mouse buttons at just the right time to get into the early boot menu to select the drive you want to boot from. Im figuring its booting up into the drive which youve just formatted and you want it to boot into your setup drive?
@@gorgos100 You called HD0 "Sys" ? That is why things are messing up, its referring to other drives while booting up.. rename it to "OS3.9" or whatever else and it should be fine, but don't call it "sys" lol (I made the same mistake once and was completely confused until I realised what was going on lol
@@MsMadLemon yeah, the simple stuff, works, that what i don't need an emulator for. But try something more powerfull and it just acts like a virus on itself, settings get changed behind the users back , one boot it works, reboot and it no longer works, reboot and it might work.... This is just a toy thats no good for anything. i'll stick to my real amiga's. I tried this winuae years ago , and it didn't work then and it still doesn't, not for what it would be usefull.
@@diaman_d I dont think you realise what the video is all about... I've only used Winuae to install a CF card, nothing major... And this is when I had no means to put an OS onto a real Amiga.. I didn't have a CD rom Drive on my Amiga back then nor any way to put files on it. So I used Winuae to do all that... I've been using real Amigas since and the install works fine. Either way, no need to get stroppy about this.
@@MsMadLemon well, that's what happens after countless days of trying to get this thing to do what it claims, only to find it is actively sabotaging everything i tried. As i said, one boot it works, the next it doesnt, then reset again and one might get lucky but ussually not, This is not trustworthy software by any means. Good for you if you can use it for what you need.
@@diaman_d I can empathise with that, it can be a pain, it's the reason why I created this tutorial series on setting it up, because I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to set it up until I got it working. btw, sometimes the booting issue can be the cf card brand. i'm not saying it is, but it's worth trying it with another brand/card thats a known working one and see if that alleviates the issue. Other times not booting could be that you have an accelerator card (like the ACA1233n in my case) which causes the Amiga to reboot too fast for the CF card to catch up (This happened to me). Again, i'm not sure what your issue is exactly but it's worth looking into other things. I hope you can get it working though.

None of my cf cards are detected in HD toolbox...

You could right click on computer and select manage then disk management, for a more intuitive format and partition tool.

If I get any of those il be one happy human....lol
Hi, wow that's quite a lot of instruments you play, and Violin is impressive, it's not an easy instrument to learn. Ukulele's I find cute lol a friend way back was trying to learn. And yes I do play guitar, also the keyboard too.

I take it PFS is much more stable than OFS and FFS? i found that while doing anything and yo loose power, you have ruined the file system on O/F FS? i still have nightmares about this! lol
Actually PFS will allow you to use a drive up to I think 32GB . where as OFS and FFS have a 4GB limit. Though i dont think i've ever used OFS on a hard drive, only FFS.

I've just seen your channel and I've seen the love you give to your miggy. I'm Retrofan, the AKReal creator and I was searching a video -my videos su**- showing how to install PFS3. I made a guide time ago, but you know, it's always better a video than any text. I've just suscribed. BTW, a question: Have you tried/will you try at least on WinUAE my AKReal distro? . And also, I was thinking (just thinking) to give a link to this video in the AKReal site (it's actually stopped because of the incoming AKReal 9 update) because it seems a very nice explanation about how to install PFS3AIO and you know that there is very few about that.
About the photo it is great. I love Technics and playing vinyl records. The pity is that I use to use 1024x768 and 800x600 images and also that I'm just finishing my actual update and God knows when I'll be making the next update.
Another thing, just while watching the video: You formatted the CF and you installed it on WinUAE while booting an OS3.9. Then you install OS 3.9 over the new CF. Why? You can just copy all of the files in your booting OS3.9 system to the new CF HD.
Edit: Well, forget it; you just want to show how to install OS3.9 on a new CF.
A couple of questions more if you don't mind. Why do you install Spanish as language and also you write Adios at the end? I'm spanish, that's why I ask. And the second question: Are you a member at the English Amiga Board forum? If not, you should ;) Cheers.
Ahaa I havent actually messed around with the AKReal distro but it looks really interesting and i would like to try, on winuae or maybe on my real Amiga even on a separate SD card. (of course I would do a video on it too)

As I say it's the first video of yours I watch, but I don't miss a bit of info of what I see, and I see that you've made a nice mini ITX PSU and you've taked the time to make a cut to put the A1200 logo. Wonderful job. I use ATX psu's inside Amiga psu cases. I like to add on the other side a blue voltimeter display. I wasn't using an ITX psu, it was a raspberry pi project and I used an old Amiga PSU case as the case for it. I intend on installing Amibian onto it once i've finished it off.. so kind of making a mini emulated Amiga, of course Id id this project before I bought a real Amiga again like in the olden days. I like emulation but nothing beats the original hardware :o)

@@gorgos100 are you struggling to get into the early boot menu in order to select the drive to boot? You have to be click both the mouse buttons at just the right time to get into the early boot menu to select the drive you want to boot from. Im figuring its booting up into the drive which youve just formatted and you want it to boot into your setup drive?

That is why things are messing up, its referring to other drives while booting up.. rename it to "OS3.9" or whatever else and it should be fine, but don't call it "sys" lol (I made the same mistake once and was completely confused until I realised what was going on lol

@@MsMadLemon yeah, the simple stuff, works, that what i don't need an emulator for. But try something more powerfull and it just acts like a virus on itself, settings get changed behind the users back , one boot it works, reboot and it no longer works, reboot and it might work....
This is just a toy thats no good for anything. i'll stick to my real amiga's. I tried this winuae years ago , and it didn't work then and it still doesn't, not for what it would be usefull.
@@diaman_d I dont think you realise what the video is all about... I've only used Winuae to install a CF card, nothing major... And this is when I had no means to put an OS onto a real Amiga.. I didn't have a CD rom Drive on my Amiga back then nor any way to put files on it. So I used Winuae to do all that... I've been using real Amigas since and the install works fine. Either way, no need to get stroppy about this.
@@MsMadLemon well, that's what happens after countless days of trying to get this thing to do what it claims, only to find it is actively sabotaging everything i tried. As i said, one boot it works, the next it doesnt, then reset again and one might get lucky but ussually not, This is not trustworthy software by any means. Good for you if you can use it for what you need.
@@diaman_d I can empathise with that, it can be a pain, it's the reason why I created this tutorial series on setting it up, because I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to set it up until I got it working.
btw, sometimes the booting issue can be the cf card brand. i'm not saying it is, but it's worth trying it with another brand/card thats a known working one and see if that alleviates the issue. Other times not booting could be that you have an accelerator card (like the ACA1233n in my case) which causes the Amiga to reboot too fast for the CF card to catch up (This happened to me). Again, i'm not sure what your issue is exactly but it's worth looking into other things. I hope you can get it working though.
