A purple smoke bush would be a nice pop of color amongst all the green. I enjoy all the beautiful things you show us, but I'd love it if you show us maintenance (not always the most fun) as well. Inevitably, we all have to do it.

Lovely tour and and a stunningly beautiful home. I imagined coffee in the morning on that deck, sunning in the afternoon on that deck, and drinking a glass of wine in the evening on that deck and realized I could just live on that deck. Priceless memories I'm sure of time spent there growing up. I think you need a tree or bush with a different texture and darker foliage than the fronting hydrangeas. Maybe a black lace elderberry or a Japanese Lace maple? Cheers

What an incredibly special heritage you have! Thank you for sharing! Found your videos a few days ago & just keep watching as it's such a special place to me. I grew up in Michigan, visiting Mackinac Island, & always admired your grandmother's home with the beautiful cedar shake siding (right next to library I think)! So special to get to see the front of this beautiful house! Years ago I also worked at Mission Point Resort in Convention Services. When I come home from Colorado in the summer we visit & stay on the island. Fun now to know who makes these beautiful gardens a reality! All the best in the 2021 season!

Wow! I'm so glad you returned to show us your grandmother's lake house in the summer when everything has filled in. It is stunning! I hope to walk by when Proven Winners renews its Grand Garden Show in 2021. Would love to meet your grandma in the next video. I think a limelight hydrangea or quick fire hydrangea would do well next to the house when you clean out that tree in the front. Either one would lighten up that area and the blooms would be a nice contrast against the house.

Gorgeous place. Thanks for the tour Jack. You could put Sun King Aralia or something with purple foliage in the spot at the end of the video. A nice pop of darker foliage would be really pretty. Purple smoke bush, tuxedo weigela, or if it gets enough sun a black lace elderberry.

Lovely property. I would leave the honey suckle where it is and put a fountain in the other spot. I live on P.E.I. Canada and we have The Confederation Bridge which joins the eastern Canadian provinces of Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick, making travel throughout the Maritimes easy and convenient. The curved, 12.9 kilometre (8 mile) long bridge is the longest in the world crossing ice-covered water, and continues to endure as one of Canada’s top engineering achievements of the 20th century. Thanks for sharing.

I have a question for you. I am looking for something different to plant on the east corner of my house. I have several hydrangeas and a Japanese maple on the east side and I'm looking for something different. The space I have would be up to 4 foot wide and could go as high as 4 foot tall maybe five. I have seen several different plants you have showcased and thought I would ask your advice. Thanks!

I would like to see some red leaf Japanese maples also, and maybe some ferns. I didn't see any Fern from the property, and there's a lot of different variety of change times which I think would be more than perfect. Also you mentioned your grandma is a senior, I really didn't see very many teak benches out in the garden, my garden is never complete until you've got seating to take him all the different views of the Horticulture and Mother Nature. Also in that area I think a large bird bath to be appropriate, something concreted into a base Foundation so it could withstand the storms.

Hi, some plant suggestions for the free space: 1. Clematis on the wall would be beautiful, but because it's made of wood probably not possible.
    2. From the free spot to the removed honeysuckle either a row of thalictrum delavayi, tall anemones, or cimicifuga.
    3. On the free place on wich your standing in the video, beside the bench: hibiscus 'blue bird', a butterfly bush, limelight hydrangea (maybe in tree shape), a syringa palibin as shrub/bush, or a lot of hollyhocks e.g. in lemon yellow, or yellow or orange/apricot tall Roses ( e.g. 'Arabia', 'Westerland'). Sorry for mistakes in English.

Thank you, Jack for that beautiful summer tour. I've seen many of your tours with Laura from Garden Answer, that's how I came here. I remember your May tour and thinking that I can't wait to see the garden in its summer bloom. Thanks for showing the May photos alongside. Interesting that the water has so quickly come up to the edge of the garden. Your face lights up when you talk about your granny, and especially when you recount the story of her lining up to wait to enter her own home so that wedding couples can take photos outside the climbing hydrangea. Just magical. Would love to see a tour inside her house. Thanks again.
