  • Griddle Clean is a game changing product for cleaning commercial kitchen cooking griddles, commonly called hot plates in NZ. If you, like many others, spend a tedious time each day either cleaning with harsh and potentially dangerous chemicals, or your elbows simply have no grease left in them with all the scrubbing you do cleaning your Griddle, then the wait is over.....
    Southern Hospitality Ltd has worked with an experienced and well known New Zealand cleaning products manufacturer to formulate a product that's safer, and more user friendly than most used currently in NZ for griddle cleaning. Griddle Clean works on the radical concept of cleaning food.....with food!!
    The product is food safe, meaning that once you have cleaned, there is no need to rinse off, saving time and money.
    Griddle Clean by Southern Hospitality doesn't contain any harsh or dangerous chemicals, so no more chemical burns, noxious fumes, or eye watering vapours, so you can sell your space suit!
    Griddle Clean is used at heat, so there's no need to wait for the griddle to cool down. Cleaning can also be done during service if required. Simply use the product straight from the bottle, no mixing or diluting, directly on the griddle and use a cleaning pad to agitate. Once its scrubbed in, use a blade to remove and voila!
    Griddle Clean comes in convenient 1 litre and 5 litre packs. So, grab a 1 litre, and refill it from a 5 litre, easy, convenient and economical.....

    It's amazing, how everyone has their own way of cleaning the griddle. My way is super easy. Turn off the griddle, pour the chemical, spread with spatula, let it do its work for a few seconds. Pour water and scrape it into the grease trap, and clean griddle with a damp cloth. And you're done.

    If you have a flat grill like this and don't want to use (or spend money on) the cleaning products that are used for it but state that it's incredibly unhealthy to use them or breath them in. Use straight vinegar. I've never had an issue using it and it works just as well as any other cleaner. Just make sure it's plain vinegar. I made the mistake of using pickle juice (it was the only viniger like product we had) and didn't read the label all the way. The pickles were sweet instead of regular ones so the sugar that was added in, made the mess even worse and took even longer to clean.

    A brick, oil and some work are all you should use. Also, avoid scrubbing in circles and just go back and forth. This will help the natural non-stick properties of your flat top. Trust me, cooking eggs on a properly looked after top compared to one cleaned in this manner is night and day after a year or so.

    I believe it's a glycerin mix of some sort that's because we use that at my job and it works pretty well but it leaves a nasty fumes smell that I don't like it I don't want on my food so I prefer not to use it and just use a grill screen and scrubber. Also you should be careful about throwing a lot of cool liquid onto the grill when it's hot it can literally crack right in half.

    • @Fallibleandflawed
      @Fallibleandflawed 6 років тому +1

      Kay Kay lol yeah exactly. Just need some elbow grease, and a grill scrub of some sort and some good oil. Can get it silver just with that. But in my experience I don't like to use the brick cause it crushes down and leaves a nasty smelling oil mixture.

    the clear chemical being used with the pumice stone is most likely H 2 O that comes right out of the tap. After would be just be regular cooking oil to keep the grill lubricated.

    This has almost nothing to do with the liquid but rather the charcoal brick being used.
    Worked at a bistro and every night the grill was cleaned with some oil poured onto the grill and a charcoal brick used to scrape off the grime.
    It was terrible work and alot of the time boiling hot oil splashed your fingers/hands.
    no chemicals or bullshit needed

    I would try something called Blast Away. It's really aggressive on a flat top and your skin as well. All you need is the Blast Away, some water, a steel wool scrubber, and a scraper (however that word is spelled). Trust me on when I say it's aggressive, I'm a dishwasher at a restaurant near me and it was the end of the day and I was closing. The cook that was there was cleaning the flat top with the Blast Away and he scraped the flat top off and poured the Blast Away and dirt down the drain of the sink I was using. The Blast Away wasn't draining so I made the decision to get whatever was blocking the drain with my bare hands and it just chewed up my hand I put in it. I still have all of my skin and everything but my hand hurt like hell for about two days. In shorter words, I would suggest trying Blast Away for cleaning your flat top.
