Admire the transparency between quality and economics. I tend to live in that world as well…quality is certainly there but I am not always in the position to acquire unfortunately!
I certainly understand the $9K US price being an impediment to buying an M11 Monochrom. I acquired a Leica Summilux-M 35mm “Re-Edition” steel Rim Classic lens, in mid-2023, and had to sell some things (non-photographic) to compensate my budget. Selling-off those things did hurt, but, I finally had a new Leica lens, rather than having bought pre-owned, as I had done with my other Leica lenses. Within the Leica ecosystem, I seem to be reasonably comfortable remaining faithful to my original-version M10 and my M Type 246 Monochrom cameras, preferring to upgrade to faster lenses, rather than newer cameras. (Notably, the 246 Monochrom is quite a capable performer at high ISO, in light.)
I’ve always bought my leicas used, hope to one day get some brand new though. It’s incredible how well leicas cameras have withstood the test of time, especially their digital cameras
Happy to hear you enjoyed the M11M. I personally love my M11 Monochrom. I’m honestly not sure that the Q3 is for me. Thus far I’m not loving it and might part with it. Perhaps I’ll wait for the next M11 series (M11-D?) and pick one up to add to the collection. As for is the M11M worth the money… if I could have only one camera, it would be my M11M. It’s the most “special” camera I’ve owned to date… and I’ve owned just about everything worth a mention.
The M11M is a very special camera, I have to agree with you on that! There’s something truly unique to it. I’m definitely trying to figure out how things I can sell to get my own
I purchased the M11 after trying one & fell in love. For Mono I was happy with my Q2M until I tried the M11M & traded as much as I could to purchase it. So glad I did the advantages is the all my M11 lenses accessories all fit so no added cost. I consider myself lucky but they are a long term investment so will in the end become cost effective.
Thanks for the video. As a M and SL shooter, if price is a concern suggest you look at the M9M if you haven't. Has a unique looks and punches above its resolution (and Topaz can always help there).
Can agree with the points here. Had to sell a bunch of stuff to get it but glad I did despite having a regular M11 too. But the point I would make is that you have to think, shoot and process in monochrome to get the advantages because it’s different. Thanks.
Great video man. I wish I could afford it too but $9,000 is really insane. However, if I did have the ability to purchase one I 100% would and I think this would be the only camera I’d need. I’ve wanted to shoot only black and white since the beginning of my career but that is such a niche that clientele would be hard to pull in. Thanks for taking the time to make such a an awesome video, lovely shots!
sir... nowaday i consisdering to buy m10m(secondhand) can i get to kyou why you recommen m10m rather then m11m? i want to know if is same reason with me maybe next month i will go with m10m
@@borntodie6018 if you care more about one stop of better IQ at best than about the user experience, then yes, sure, the M11-M is a better camera. In my experience, the M11 is not a great camera for those who want to capture the decisive moment, it lags all the way from turning it on, pushing the mile-long shutter button, to a meter that is all over the place, and you can't even take consecutive pictures without it choking. It's just not as responsive as the M10 Gen cameras.
@@CreativeLeadershipwithDaniel Also if you log into LUF there are additional problems mostly with the camera freezing. I think there is a software release soon to sort this out .There are other issues too .
I would be interested to know if the 18mp setting produces noticeably better dynamic range and high ISO performance than the default 60mp setting. This looks like an incredible camera, regardless.
Hahaha, it's really a click bait the moment I saw the title. I thought, "Hey, is there a real technical issue?" But there is also a Leica M10 Monochrome at a lower price. With Leica, I would just buy used.
Lucky dog! You ended up getting one! I was going to get that sl2s with that recent promotion but i just ended up passing on it for now. I still have my Leica TL2 and going to see what Leica does next with its cameras. I did get to check out the m11 at the store, though! I honestly couldn’t tell too much difference between the silver and black colors due to the aluminum-brass difference. I dig the photos you shared from the m11m! I’m curious to ask, is it having any of the issues the regular m11 has (freezes, etc)
I just rented it, so I’m missing it now! And that’s great, they keep coming out with new stuff and I’m sure with the release of the SL3 early next year that’ll be a big improvement to the system. I didn’t experience any freezing with the M11M while I had it!
APS-C sensor. And not the same lenses rang. Why not the PIXII monochrome in this case ? It shoots B&W in RAW but keeps colors if you want to get them back ; and M mount on top of that 🙂

Always want to be transparent with this channel

The M11 Monochrome is the dream camera. Great to see some Michigan based content.
It really is, loved every minute I had it
I sold my M10 for the M11M. A no brainer for me as I have the Q3 and SL2-S Reporter for colour options. Go for it when you can Lukas.
Saving up those coins!
What a gorgeous camera 🤩. I already have the Q2 and SL2-S but I’d be lying if I wasn’t eyeing an M11 just to try out and experience it
There was something about that camera!
Go ahead and grab ya one!

Very lucky to have that beautiful camera! It definitely is a long term investment, and a solid one! Enjoy!
Its worth more than that. Actually we owe something to leica making Monochrom cameras.
I can see how you got to this conclusion!

Thank you so much! Yeah it’s such a niche camera but I would love to own one some day. I found a lot of freedom in being limited to black and white!
My Leica journey started with the Q2M. Then I got an MP as I love shooting film. Am now considering selling the Q2M for the M11M.
I hope you will give the M10-M a try. It's so much better than the M11-M.
I definitely want to try the m10m one day!

I’ll check the photos I took at 18, but honestly, from the 60mp in low light I didn’t even care to shoot lower resolution. Camera sees in the dark
My dream camera. A goal of mine is to purchase one mid 2024, I just have to see which limb I’m willing to give up 😢
I’m in the same boat, how much are kidneys going for nowadays?
The low light should be great, it literally doesn't have the color filter layer all cameras have.
For sure, and it was better than I was expecting it to be
Awesome review. I want to rent one soon!
Thank you! It’s a dangerous camera to rent but it’s so fun to use!
Love photos thank you for the review.
Thank you Ramon!

100% 😅 the sensor with the m10 mono is definitely a little different. But I’m always an advocate for buying Leica used

You're missing some voice over at 0:46
It was for the drama
Obviously on purpose. Of all the things you could have mentioned….
Dope!
Thank you!
wow now that you mention it, highlights are basically nonexistent
Wild isn’t it, you really have to protect them
0:46...... what is It´s ? 🤔
Price, might be the best digital M I’ve used but it definitely will cost you
One MAJOR Issue is that it doesn't have colors
Hahaha
That’s a plus for those that feel the Monochrome calling.
Left eye mate?
A cheaper alternative to the Leica M11 Monochrom would be the new Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome!
I’ll have to check it out!
@@lukasvanderlende It's such a beautiful camera!
