People like you are the reason the worlds spinning guy
Tom Coll's drumming is incredibly precise and solid
that off-beat open hi-hat in love is the main thing... Wow. I know numerous drummers who'd cramp up performing this seemingly 'simple' drum part.
@@nathanwittock4133 yeah I loved that part too! Sometimes I use it while playing to give the impression of playing ghost notes or double pedal, in terms of rhythm
@@vinniecentz Congrats, compliments to the chef who's food tastes like a cheeseburger
@@GooGuGajoob what?
@@vinniecentz his drumming is as creative as a cheese burger m8
their drummer really is underrated af
van gogh got some serious skills
i saw them live back in 2019 for the dogrel album release back when they were still kinda small, ended up talking to them and got toms sticks he used!
As a drummer myself, he is insanely underrated. Incredibly tight and at times can be extremely complex and fast (Chequeless Reckless, Liberty Belle) so yeah, just an amazingly talented guy.
First thing that struck me was the drumming. Seriously good.
holy shit it's Big Wax, nice pfp
Life ain't always empty
I am so happy they got nominated for a Grammy they deserve it. Also believe they are the first post punk band to ever get nominated for one also.
The Cure did. They got nominated for Bloodflowers.
I think we all know the Grammys are a crock of $hit (They usually go for what is most commercial, for example in 2016 when they snubbed Courtney Barnett for best new artist in favor of Meghan Trainor), but the nomination might at least get the band some good publicity.
@@warrogue1798 Lol I dient even know that. Meghan Trainor sure has had an incredible impact on our culture :')
we are witnessing one of the greatest bands about right now
Yeah right I am old and feel confident saying this is NOT USUAL these fellows are...well I was going to go into my musical history but it doesn't matter does it? If we've been around for the special musical moments we know them when we see them right? :)
@@waterwatereverywhere Sometimes the less said the better, i was born in `62 so i know where you are coming from. Indeed, this band is very reasurring for the real music fans of all ages. Cheers.
their drummer is so balanced! love these guys
Poets admiring the beats realizing folks around the world are looking for meaning through lyrics. Gotta love those who respond to current vibes in culture through their works
wat
this and Protomartyr's album are both at the top for 2020
2020 will be an epic year when comes to good Music. Keep your ears wide open.
And you´re right on. This and Protomartyr are top notch. Eyedress is another gem ;)
I'd add BAMBARA too
Protomartyr's was my favorite. But yeah, this year has been full of awesome albums.
Agreed, plus the new Crack Cloud and Oneohtrixpointnever albums.
@@polarisnvega BAMBARA is so sick
Never let a clock tell you what you’ve got time for!
Best band alive right now
I don’t know why I listed all of our names but we’re gonna play some songs. Lol thanks lads!
Oh, my good grief. This whole performance is a lucid dream. They are so intense, so full-on damned serious about their music; every sound is nuanced and composed just so. Sophisticated, erudite... They are musicians completely wrapped in their muse... it's a privilege to see them at work like this. And that's before we even come to Grian and his lyrics and his delivery and his stage presence and range. So rare to see such a perfectly balanced band of musicians. Watching them perform is completely entrancing and the worlds their music conjures up are by turn captivating, terrifying, sad, hopeful, raucous, beguiling. Bravo, Fontaines DC, bravo.
Best rock record in 2020... Lucid dream, what a brilliant song!
Great band. Everytime i see a guitarist playing with a fender jaquar i feel that the spirit of Rowland Howard lives on
I'm obsessed with them, often catch myself hearing hints of the The Fall
Yes, definitely hearing the late Mark E Smith in this.
Ian Curtis fronting the Fall!
These guys ooze swag. It's unreal
It`s natural.
This band be getting me through some hard times rn
Best band in the world at this very moment in my opinion
listen to more music man. So many better bands out there. Start with Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever.
@@rupman27isback lol
@@mrsmirk4495 lol?
On par with SLIFT I'd say :)
@@rupman27isback just the combo of the pretentious 'listen to more music' and your suggestion that a pretty generic band is better. I enjoy RBCF a fair amount but they are nowhere near the first band I'd suggest if I was trying to shame someone else's opinion
Good way to start my weekend
I love them.
What a great band!
These are some good sounding sounds.
I’m a fan now. Refreshing cool sound.
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Don't get stuck in the past
Say your favorite things at mass
Tell your mother that you love her
And go out of your way for others
Sit beneath a light that suits ya
And look forward to a brighter future
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Sink as far down as you can be pulled up
Happiness really ain't all about luck
Let your demeanor be your deep down self
And don't sacrifice your life for your health
When you speak, speak sincere
And believe me friend, everyone will hear
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Bring your own two cents
Never borrow them from someone else
Buy yourself a flower every hundredth hour
Throw your hair down from your lonely tower
And if, and if
You find yourself in the family way
Give the kid more than what you got in your day
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Never let a clock tell you what you got time for
It only goes around, goes around, goes around
Take your family name for your own great sins
'Cause each day is where it all begins
And
Don't give up too quick
You only get one line, you better make it stick
If we give ourselves to every breath
Then we're all in the running for a hero's death
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
Life ain't always empty
That was the year of the sneer now the real thing's here

I was really looking forward to this performance of the new Fontaines D.C. album on kexp! Incredible very good
So good to see Tom out front on this. He's so precise along with that filthy bass, leading that glorious wall of guitar sound & backing vocals. Grian a cherry. I love them.😃
Perfect album. They are the next big thing.
Just pure quality this
Auténticos, precisos, enormes!
Great set guys. Mixed emotions that my Sydney Australia ticket to Paddo RSL keeps getting rebooked to larger and larger venues. A great sign of your success.

One of those Dubliners loving Dubliners here. *Sigh*
The pride mixed with delight is constantly palpable.

Love this!!!!! ❤
Perfect
Ależ to jest dobre, chętnie zobaczyłbym na żywo!
Hey thanks Dubliners and KEXP. I felt extremely spoiled catching Fontaines D.C three times in 2019. With idles in Portland, a surprise (to me) at Roskilde Festival in Denmark and again back in Oregon late summer of 2019. Seems like years ago now. Grian has trouble expressing himself? Nawww.
WRRRAAAWWWWW live seen at 2019 ..waannaa more!
'Televised Mind' nailed it. Missed first track of the album, a really good one.
Dreamy and intense 👁👊
impatient de vivre es instant sen live.
Pure quality.
I love fontaines ❤😎

such a great fucking album!
Duaaaarrrr 💥

They have IT
❤️
these guys, black midi, shame and black country new road are about to change the fucking world
Love all these bands. 'For The First Time' is already one of the best albums of the year.
Vi amo🇵🇸
Poetry in motion.
love is the main thing
absolutely cannot wait to drink cheap beer and see them pound these songs live
Fontaines D.C. have some of the most poignant lyricism for our times. Along with Crack Cloud and Black Country, New Road.
Love these boys!!
cool gang
Deadpan delivery of some excellent lyrics against an intense wall of sound from the band. Is that Roy Buchanan's lovechild on lead guitar? I'll be following these guys from now on. Good work Fontaines D.C!
M O R E !
Positive vibes IN and AROUND a MAD ass fuckin WORLD, i C me in you! 👁️ LOVE these GENTLEMEN!
👁️LOVE these GENTLEMAN!
Lucid next dream lvl
Its giving joy division
Best post-punk band of this time
Very good musicians and an ok poet talking over the sounds. Good songs when the singer actually steps up the tempo and sings.
Come to brazil
Love is the main thing is the sound of Ian's ghost.
kinda bummed they didn’t play you said, oh such a spring and no :/ those are my favorites off this album
fontaines are sick dont listen to fantano
That melon gave oh sees a 6 none of his opinions matter
I stopped trusting him when he gave slowdive(self titled) a 4
not listening to fantano, but this album was a massive let-down. there's a few good songs on there, but only televised mind was played here
@@jaceyp.8457 That's probably one of the best albums ever tf is melon man on
thats what im telling myself aswell, fantano helped me disover a lot of new bands, but I think he just dislikes some genres. Best example brit rock and most things related to trap rap
👍👌
"Congratulations..."
Interpol, Queens of the Stone Age, Protomartyr, IDLES, Fontaines D.C. and Viagra Boys. Best bands for the rock'n roll scene these days.
Then check out Shame ;)
@@finiboy87 I've already checked them.
looking forward to your second sense of hope man
The first band to stir my blood since the days of the very great Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy also Rory Gallagher
I like how they make em stand apart, they deffinately hang out, so what's the point, fantastic set and band, great start to Sunday
Just discovered them this week…fuck are they good
This band is like an advertisement for Fender. (In the best way!)
Poets who decided to form a band.💚⚡🇺🇲
Ian Curtis is back !!
still have a ticket for the show in Barcelona in March 2021. I suppose it´s not happening :/
these guys are lucky that empty rhymes with empty so well

Black midi, Squid, Shame and them... what do they eat!?
