Dave putting on a clinic on how to use the whole guitar, pick attack, little subtleties only guitar players would ever notice. There's alot going on in this song...riff after riff
Dave is a surgeon with the way he writes his riffs. In my opinion the most underrated rock n roll guitar player even with the praise he gets. Not to mention his vocals... I could cry every time I hear strangers
once again I discover a great Kinks song I never heard. This song really grows on you. Can't believe someone actually gave this a dislike. thanks for the upload and for all the other ones too.
joe rockhead look up the whole album sleepwalker and listen to it its best listened all the way though not a single non amazing song and they put an amazing amount of thought into how it flowed from song to song I'll get some hate I'm sure but as an album as a whole I'd say it's better than the deads American Beauty.
I am hooked on this song. Absolutely the best Kinks video I have ever seen. I have watched it everyday for a couple weeks now and I love the way the cameraman gets just the right amount of Ray and Dave in the video. especially when Daves doing his licks.
The "Sleepwalker" album brings back such great memories. I wore out the second side of that record when I was a kid. Such nice, clean guitar work by Dave.
Cracking track from a cracking album. Love the sleepwalker album. That cd never leaves car. Other cds I alternate around. The kinks sleepwalker remains always.
Watched The Kinks on The Old Grey Whistle Test 1977 last night. Now buying what Ray called his loser album Sleepwalker. Because these songs are really fabulous.
I was lucky enough to grow up w/ it. Dig deep / explore what didn't make public broadcasting. If your willing you'll find some great creations. B-sides of the hit single, I preferred more than not. Wish you luck & hope you find some gems of your own. Start with you fav bands, listen to the tunes your not familiar w/. Peace
Oh, oh darlin', Little darlin', Did you ever see such a stormy sky? It's never been like this before. All the people, They're runnin'. Ev'rybody's try'n' to hide, To get away from that stormy sky. Perhaps it's a sign Of what we're headed for. We're under a stormy sky, Watchin' the clouds roll by. But won't you let me keep you warm, And leave the storm outside? It's only a stormy sky. I feel it. Do you feel it? Can you feel it? Feels like we're in for a stormy night, But I can't see a cloud in sight. I see it. Do you see it? Can't you see it, See that warning in that stormy sky. But perhaps its gonna pass us by, So don't you cry. There's nowhere we can hide. But if you hold me tight, I know that we'll be all right. Tomorrow we'll laugh about it; Greet the mornin' light. It's only a stormy sky. We're under a stormy sky, Watchin' the clouds roll by. But there'll be another dawn To clear the storm away, And we will be all right.
I love this song. I have the last line of lyrics (studio version) on my arm. But here, Ray sings it differently. The only thing that mars the performance! Just kidding though, this performance is as perfect as it gets.
The little guy behind Dave is Jim Rodford, originally a Zombie, then 17 years a Kink, then back to the Zombies! R.I.P. Jim, you were one of the good ones!
Before Covid I held out hope there might be one last tour after reading an article that Ray and Dave were working on some new stuff but then the world went to shit 😢
Still love this song so much. The large spectrum of the Kinks' music is more than amazing. No need to fear any comparison with whomever !!!
Dave Davies= Great, great, great guitar !!
At the start of the clip I love the way Mick Avory winks at the new bass player, who then looks nervously at the camera - classic.
That's Jim Rodford of The Zombies 17 years a Kink then back to The Zombies!
@@AlanBrown-yg7rl , It is Andy Pyle.
What a great Rock’n’Roll songwriter!, so honored to have worked with The Kinks in 1975.

Daves guitar work was so amazing!
Great guitar by Dave. Wonderful sonic tone! Song should be heard by all music appreciates.
Dave putting on a clinic on how to use the whole guitar, pick attack, little subtleties only guitar players would ever notice. There's alot going on in this song...riff after riff

Love Ray singing this tune and Dave’s playing is so subtle. Very romantic.
God save the Kinks. The guitar playing is exquisite.

I've never seen and heard such a beautiful stormy sky
Extraordinary song! Dave's guitar playing is so beautiful. "Ray, you were too handsome!" Ray's hair..... I will type no more ;-)

Was there ever a more diversified sounding band than The Kinks?
Matthew Wright no..never ..best band Rock and Roll has ever spawned
+Matthew Wright never!
🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
No
The Kinks have hit every feeling and every style you could ever imagine. Loving this so much!
Beautifully played, beautifully sung. Perfection. Amazing texture with Dave's masterful lead, the keyboard (Rhodes?) sounds, female vox, MA's great drum fills, and, of course, Ray's guitar and voice. Perfect.
i dont want what to say, im lost of words when i listen this song...its so special song so good music , lyric and this voice of Ray...perfect
This song is a pure CLASSIC! pure brilliants, the beetles have nothing on the kinks
They actually do. Why do you have to compare really?
A lovely song indeed! I've never heard Ray sing better!!
I am hooked on this song. Absolutely the best Kinks video I have ever seen. I have watched it everyday for a couple weeks now and I love the way the cameraman gets just the right amount of Ray and Dave in the video. especially when Daves doing his licks.

this song is absolute perfection.
The best song on the album. One of the greatest Kinks songs of all time. I love how it slows down at the end , pure emotion.

And the ladies are lovely too!
This album hooked me on the Kinks
Dave killed it here.
This is a really gorgeous song... how did this not make the top 5 charts?? plz someone explain
No accounting for the musical ear of “Beatlemaniac” teens….
Such a soulful singing job by Ray, amazing.
3/20/21
Never heard this song. I like it. Dave's soloing and Ray's singing are good.
Cracking track from a cracking album. Love the sleepwalker album. That cd never leaves car. Other cds I alternate around. The kinks sleepwalker remains always.

Just when I think I’ve exhausted all my favorite “kinks” tracks, I always find another hidden gem. Best band of their era no contest.
dave's guitar melts my soul~
Watched The Kinks on The Old Grey Whistle Test 1977 last night. Now buying what Ray called his loser album Sleepwalker. Because these songs are really fabulous.
I love this album. One of my all time favorites. For any band. I wore it out.
I always bought every Kinks album, and wore them out! This is such a good song.
Davies brilliant songwriting is just amazing. You can hear some melody and chord structures that lead into their next masterpiece, Misfits.

Kinks easy listening classic ...
Oh, oh darlin',

The little guy behind Dave is Jim Rodford, originally a Zombie, then 17 years a Kink, then back to the Zombies! R.I.P. Jim, you were one of the good ones!
well said!
When people still knew how to write good songs and play instruments
Introducing a new song by saying "It's like 'Sunny Afternoon' or 'Waterloo Sunset'' may create unrealistic expectations. ;-)
Just give me a time machine.
Not being ironic or satirical, etc - just very , very subtle and romantic -
Vinny from Vinesauce brought me here.
Cool song :)
too good. I just came
Before Covid I held out hope there might be one last tour after reading an article that Ray and Dave were working on some new stuff but then the world went to shit 😢
No, that's The Fall, although The Kinks do come mighty close !
Why did the Kinks not have any chart success after Apeman? With the exception of Come Dancing? Travesty....
Big hair, ha, don't we wish we had more of it now
I don't know who the mixing engineer was but he shure was deaf.
A cette époque il y avait les stones, les beatles en haut de l 'affiche, suivis des Whos et des kinks bien sûr !
Anyone can figure the tabs out for the 2:03 - 2:20 part of the guitar?
To my ears Dave became more of a varied, better guitar player from Sleepwalker on.
anyone know what kind of amp Ray is using?
the tones in his fingers ;)
@Ilovenancy72 ... the Beatles didn't eclipse them from us...
I love this song, and him! I just dislike his long hair though haha :3
Where do you people get this stuff from?
😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚😚
@driteon
I'll go that far and say they're better than the Beatles!
The Beatles were really overrated and you know it; haha.
