About the album:
Americana was written, conceived, and arranged, by Davies, and co-produced with Guy Massey and John Jackson. The album is an autobiographical work, chronicling the inextricable role America has played in Davies' life. From his earliest days touring the U.S. with the Kinks and subsequent blacklisting by the American Musicians Union, to his years playing stadiums and eventually settling in New York and New Orleans for a time, America has served as both muse and tempest to Davies.

Ray Davies protected me when I was at an after-party. I was 18; it was the Word of Mouth Tour in 1985. He was an absolute gentleman, he is such a kind, sweet, man. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Great
Really you got to meet him? That's like so cool!
I've met Ray a few times,in Edinburgh - Storyteller tour. ❤
The greatest storyteller in Rock music history.
The best songwriter of the last 100 years Ray Davies. I never tire of hearing his music. Long live the Kinks!
Well there are a few other geniuses of course...
I couldn't agree more!
God save the Kinks!
His voice is the sweetest, most haunting voice that's ever graced rock and roll.
"My baby brother and me" ♡♡♡sweet
My brother recently died. He took me to my first Kinks’ concert. He and I used to bring up Kinks’ song to mind when they fit the memories we had or things that we said. God! I’m going to miss that so much! 😭❤️
Ray Davies song writing and talent is unmatched. Each work is tiny view into his soul, so honest, so brave, so comforting. Decades of work describing the human condition like few other artists could ever hope to achieve. Every time I hear his voice I literally smile. Thank you!!!
well said
What can I say?! I love that man. Fabulous, magnetic voice.
Love The Kinks. They give the people what they want!
Sir Raymond Douglas Davies CBE, one of the greatest songwriters of all
time! Thanks so much Sir we love you!!!!!!!!!!!
The Storyteller strikes again!
I haven't bought a "new" album since the 60's, all my vinyl coming from record fairs and ebay, so I was surprised to find myself in our local HMV store buying "Americana", on vinyl, of course. This is a tour de force from Ray Davies, reflecting my childhood exactly, when looking at the USA. Britain had just come out of a devastating World War and we were really broke. The cinema was our window on the world and the States looked exciting and we all wanted a part of it. Cowboy films, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, The Bowery Boys,Eddie Cochran, Elvis Presley, Saturday morning pictures. This album brought it all back. Well done Ray, this is a classic.
One of the greatest front men in rock history.
Tears to my eyes.... Beautiful. He knew the America that I also loved. This song should be played on our country stations!
Ray always knocks my socks off.....
Never get enough A quintessential musician
His voice and songwriting make it sound easy. A genius.
Ray = Musical genius!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ray Davies je génius, skládá největší hity. Poslouchám ho již od šedesátých let. Ať mu hodně slouží zdraví. Děkuji a zdravím srdečně from Czech Republic.
This will sound lunatic, but on the basis of this and Muswill Hillbilly, Ray belongs in The Country Music Hall of Fame as well as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He certainly deserves it more than couple of recent inductees.
A fabulous songwriter and performer!
Love his voice! And of course, the depth of his poetry.
brilliant song :)/
For an English kid, growing up in the black-and-white aftermath of the Second World War, technicolor America served to raise expectations. And now, in this time when America is embarrassing itself, Ray Davies offers us his dream of America for us to aspire to.
Ray Davies and The Jayhawks? I love it!
Ray just keeps going, he keeps writing music that connects. This a great album to play while driving!

I've always loved Ray Davies songs. The man is gifted. It's a rare thing. There's not that many. Bob, Ray, Lennon and a few more.

Ray does it again! So beautiful!
For about the 80th time, by my count. So many classic songs from this rock icon.
I absolutely love this guy
He may sound old whenever he speaks, but when it comes to singing, I still hear it the way he was in 1960s.
He looks like he had a blast doing this. And his American ...country western American is great!

Still singing....and loving our country....and getting that spirit of completely open opportunity to do whatever your heart says.

so glad to be able to say as i write this my songwriting heroes Ray, Townshend, Brian Wilson and Macca are still here to be appreciated.
No puede ser más bella! Dios te bendiga, Sir Ray.
Wouuu!👌
The Kinks helped make America.
Hey an ode to baby Brother Dave ;) Gone country
Looking good here Ray, long may you run!!
Really Great Ray, schöner Song wünsche viel Glück mit dem Album, Auch wenn nicht alles sooo gut rüber kommt !
"The fish is the last to discover water." Ray Davies, coming from England, sees America clearer than Americans do. This song, Celluloid Heroes.....etc., ETC..... Long Live The Kinks!
Wow, what a great song.
Worth the wait. Outstanding!!!!!
Beautiful.
Montreal is waiting for you Ray!!!!!!
I adore this song with it's beautifull lyrics and the great musicians making the music even better than it already is. Thank you all for this great peace of music I already listened to a thousand times or more. Including many other songs of this masterpiece such as "Poetry" and "A Long Drive Home To Tarzana". I can't understand why Americana isn't on pole position in the music charts especially the US ....?! AMERICANA and Ray Davies deserve better, at least I think. Or am I missing something??
Americans just like "shit" music so Ray Davies doesn't qualify ...
