Jonathan Harrington was just sitting at his desk enjoying some PMG, and all of the sudden the solo came... as did Jonathan. He looked down and he unfortunately did the dirty. He had guests knock on the door a few moments later. He was able to put on a new pair of khakis in record time. thank god. There was still a smell, and the song was still going. It was the new neighbors in town, a lovely young couple. As soon as he introduced his wife, unfortunately the second solo in the song came..... as did Jonathan. The potluck invitation was definitely off the table now. Great song. 10/10

When this album first came out back in 89, I bought the vinyl and I wore it the hell out. a couple of years later I bought the CD and got rid of the vinyl because it was scratchy from playing it so much. I can never get enough of this album I can play it all day. "Still life Talking" is my second favorite album by Pat Metheny group.
This is it. The Smooth Jazz song that made me a Smooth Jazz fan. Decades ago I was driving from Buffalo, NY (studied at UB) to the Mid Hudson Valley region of NY State (where I'm from). I had my radio on listening to the local stations as I passed by communities. To this day I still like catching the local vibe on the radio wherever I may be. It was around 11pm when I was passing Rochester, NY and this song came on one of the radio stations. The song just took me away. As fate would have it I've been a Smooth Jazz fan ever since.

Cuando lo conocí allá por los años 80 s me impresiono su estilo mucho pero fue con este album que conocí en 1989 ( ya en 1985 lo había escuchado a dúo con David Bowie RIP. en esto no es América) que lo puse en mis super favoritos para el Jazz and New age music. Después tuve mas albunes inclusive en uno de ellos de 1992 toca la armónica Don Tut Tielenmans (RIP) gran maestro que aunque le toco a mi padre en paz descanse toco hasta los 96 años de edad Don Tut. Esperemos que la magia y el gran estilo de Pat Metheny nos deleite por muchos años mas .. siempre tan innovador Ah!! y disfruto mucho su música por las noches manejando por la carretera . Pat Metrheny definitivamente es un super estilo de sentir la música como solían decirlo allá por los 90 S en 95.3 FM Stereo Amistad.. Si embargo este año la radio puso una estación en el cuadrante de la FM. 103.3. Y es de jazz and new age músic. Claro que a pasaron 30 años desd que escuchaba lo.mismo allá en mi querida Cd de México. Cuando existía 95.3 stereo amistad. Estamos en contacto. Mucho gusto .
Back when this came out, I imagined the band on a flatbed trailer driving through the dusty roads of New Mexico, me in a helicopter, filming them driving around with meaningful close-ups of the guys playing. Getting a sense of motion and joy as they play. Capturing the lightness of Pat's guitar, but anchored with CU shots on the flatbed of them playing, making magic.
I think of when I went in for brain surgery on May 15, 2009. I also had three knee surgeries in 1996 and 2000, and this song just makes me feel so comfortable. If you listen very carefully at the end, you'll hear rain falling and kids playing in the background. I don't take anything for granted. Even when things aren't going well, I hear this song, and it's like a warm hug and the reassurance that everything will be all right. I knew music can do that, but Pat and the group work together like a team and are there to reassure me that it's alright.

Track would not be the same without legendary Pedro Aznar whom several others tried to imitate after First Circle and this, but those who know him well never got fooled :) Amazing track unluckily rarely or never played live. Jaw-dropping recording engineering as well if you want to test a good sound system.

Fué entre 1997 y 2008 cuando la radioemisora tenía esa melodía de fondo (que se usaba en las informaciones de tránsito y el clima) y el switch que tocaba pura música chilena las 24 horas en sus segmentos folclórica, Instrumental, popular, del recuerdo (sobre todo nueva ola chilena), Infantil (los domingos en la tarde a las 16.00), tropical y sound. Y después a las 06.30 o 07.00 de la mañana hasta las 10.00 de la mañana y en la tarde a las 06.30 y hasta las 08.00 de la tarde informaciones de tránsito. Pero terminando agosto precisamente el último fin de semana de ese mes en 2008 ya no sería la misma el 1 de septiembre de dicho año cambió todo ahora tocando canciones de artistas extranjeros😢😢😢😢, eso fué muy decepcionante, ahora ya no hay ninguna radioemisora que toque pura música chilena todo el día y todos los días en ningún dial
