Yes and he had such great talents and was the backbone to a lot of things that he did in the synthesizers he used in all of the albums a long time ago.
My favorite Pat Metheny performance. Wonderful composition with a fabulous solo by Pat, with Wes Montgomery allusions, and great group interaction. Grammy-winner in 1989. RIP, Lyle Mays.
Still one of my favorite Musicians love Pat Metheny I lived in New York over. 30 y was and now I’m back home in Brazil and still listen to him😊😊🙏🙏😉😉👍👍👍🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷😀
This is one of my favourite Metheny solo's. The way in which the solo is constructed, gradually building in intensity and climax is masterly. From the slow unfolding call and response blues statements, use of gradual higher registers, frequency of notes, double stops, chromaticism, repetitive rhythmic figures and hits, chromaticism... it's all there as it should be.
Yes, Pat is very special to us Metro Detroit residences we are happy he is working with the students at Wayne State Music department its special area where many of the Jazz artists all over is working with the students who are very good in their art of music. Herbie Hancock, Stanley Clarke, and other great artist too!
You know this is some of the finest music in the world no stress feel good instrumental Jazz music on the planet and why would 26 negative fools go thumbs down 👇 on this I mean really people, I would really love to know their favorite genre of music they listen to? One thing we do know Jazz is undeniably the music of intelligence and higher IQ.... Thats a scientific fact... I have been a fan of Pat's for 40 years
Beautiful song.... it reminds me of when I was studying at University of Madison at Wisconsin and at the end of our classes, we walked for almost 2 hours to downtown to have dinner and then return again almost at midnight enjoying the sweeteness of Pat's electric guitar and the beautiful performance of Lyle on piano and the soft sound of the rest of PMG.... Unforgettable...!!!!
And the way this song begins, very nice, subtle, but swinging Latin percussion preceding all of the rest of the instruments. Beautiful arranging overall on this cut.
didn't 'offramp' come out in late 1982? i distinctly remember that year, and that weird, weird album, an alltime favorite immediately! i was seventeen!
It's sad that Lyle Mays is gone and he did a lot of great piano solos not to leave out his accompaniments with Pat Metheny and he'll be sorely missed now.
If I recall correctly some 90s rapper sampled this. And as a hip hop artist myself I think it's very cool that people sample stuff from Pat Metheny. Wish they would do it more
I could picture this track being used as a soundtrack for a shopping mall trying to sell their mall before they wind up shutting down and closing for good.
I like a lot of Metheny's music but I lost respect when he went in HARD on Kenny G. Look up the video. He straight shitted on Kenny G. Metheny wasn't high or drunk either. He just straight shit on Kenny G. Not good. Not professional. Kenny G's first three albums were max dope, but Metheny shitted all over him. I can't forget that.
You can clean your kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and garage faster while playing this.
RIP Lyle Mays (November 27, 1953 - February 10, 2020). Your keyboard skills were and still are the perfect complement to Pat's superb guitar playing.

Thanks Dad for having this in your collection when i was a kid in the 80s !!!
This is peace. This is compassion, This is real.
His music is timeless, a pick me up, feel good, soul soothing sound ... God’s blessed his talent
Truly!

It is literally impossible to have a bad day when you listen to Pat Metheny....

I saw Pat in Dusseldorf Germany in 1984 when I was stationed in Holland. It was like a religious experience; I kid you not!
Yes pat metheny is an astonishing talent.yet he needed Lyle Mays and Steve rodby and others to bring that greatness to the fore

Some 90s rapper? He deserves a more fitting title than that. I think you mean one of the true gods of hip hop. The one and only KRS One.
