(From the US) Richard, nice simulation. To those commenting on Oz analog closedowns, I agree the HSV-7 tribute in Melbourne was the best, followed by the BTQ-7 closedown in Brisbane. The ATN-7 sign-off piece (Sydney) was ok, but that was something they used for many years (not original).
@@TheKnobCalledTone. I corrected my comment above. Thank you. Just thought ATN-7 was lazy running an old sign-off (closedown) piece. This is the opinion of someone who has yet to visit the land of Oz. Someday.
I know. I don't live in Melbourne but I live in Brisbane and TVQ-10 just switched off instantly at 9am on May 2013 during the Bold and the Beautiful. No tribute or anything, just flicked the switch. BTQ-7 switched off with a mockup like HSV-7.
Yes BTQ7 did, albeit a very short ending. HSV7's one ran for 5 minutes, and IMO was well done, would've liked it to have been longer though. It's a shame ATV-10 didn't officially broadcast this tribute, but the fact they produced it at least is something.
Adam Kuklych I've actually been watching all the analogue switchoffs all around Australia. Perth Switchoff was instant, no tributes. Same with Adelaide. Brisbane switched to digital instantly except for BTQ-7, they had a short tribute clip, following by the first picture that launched in 1959, the test pad for BTQ-7. Sydney switched to digital instantly at the flick of a switch except (Channel 7) ATN-7, as their tribute was the shutdown clip used to shut down ATN7 late at night. That clip was about 3.5 minutes long (I did see a video with that clip so that's my answer) and Melbourne also did the same thing, except HSV-7 also presented a tribute clip (the longest out of any of the other ones) before switching permanently to digital TV.
@@CigarettesAshtray5 I was surprised (and mildly disappointed) that SAS-7 Adelaide and TVW-7 Perth didn't go to the same effort as the Seven Network stations on the East coast. That said, SAS would've struggled a bit as they were SAS-10 until 1987. idk if ADS and SAS swapped archives when they swapped frequencies and network affiliations.
i remember watching the analog signal shut off in nz they just switched the transmitter off during an infomercial the tvnz channels could have at least played the goodnight kiwi before turning off the signal
"If you're not receiving a clear picture, we suggest you call your servicemen." *Channel ceases to exist*
Network Ten is the CBS of Australia.
They didn't give more information 😂
0:20 Old Technical Difficulties for a few seconds that's always nice to see
At least they ended their analogue broadcasts the right way, just like some of us in the UK (I’m talking Northern Ireland and Wales in particular)
@T They sure did.

Do you mean ATN-7 Sydney? I liked the way they handled the analogue shutdown, even if HSV and BTQ did it better.

Good choice to have Gra-Gra!
If only everyone else emulated 7. You did a great job.
ATV-10 didn't use it to end its analogue transmission but they should have. The final transmission.
Yes they should have. Only HSV7 did a decent mockup of the last 50 odd years of analogue transmissions, and a brilliantly done one at that.

it was a pity ATV-10 didn't use this to end its analogue transmissions :(
There was a non-full 0 to 10 transmitter switch.
People in Australia have been calling their service man for 10 years now.
That's some amazing editing right there!

This was a lot like HSV and BTQ’s shutdown. I honestly thought ATV missed the opportunity to do this. (From the US
More channels should have done this! Great simulation!
If only this was the real analogue sign off that Network Ten used.
They couldn't have waited one more day?
Idk
What 1:35 this is ATV CHANNEL o and 0
Old studio ten logo… holy shit
GLV10 in Gippsland switched to 8 to allow ATV 0 to go to 10.
Probably because their parents company, cbs viacom didn't allow them to... So crazy how it will be *10* years since analog was switched off!
Where did you get that video of Channel 0 Nunawading at 1:11?
I am really facinated with Channel 0 Nunawading :)
This was created from archive video. I think it was from a documentary or library vision.
@@RichardCarron Stuff like this is hard to obtain. I'll admit this competed with HSV-7s analog sign off. Good work!

ATV 10 (not to be confused with Acociated televison) was shitass of the 50s
