Google needs to do a better job in letting people know that many camera features are not found in the camera app itself, but in the photos app. You must find the photo you took and then go to edit it. Then find the tools menu and that is where you find many of the tools you are looking for.

Currently looking at what new phone to go to as I'm moving away from phone contract to sim only. Looking at the prices the Pro is over £300 more than the regular pixel 8, is it really worth it for the telescopic lens and some AI features? Going from 128gb to 256gb adds about £150 as well.

How is this different from Apple promoting the iPhone 15 Pro and barely talking about the 15 which is the same or similar strategy the took with the 14 promoting the Pro phone and ignoring for the most part the iPhone 14.

I really liked my Pixel 8 from the text to speech that was almost perfect. The recorder app what music is playing app the camera obviously but I’m on data all day and so my battery life not very good so ended up selling it and I’ll be waiting for the pixel 10 and so if you’re on Wi-Fi about half the time or most of the time you won’t have a problem with the pixel phones but if you’re on data all day the modem is not great

Coming from the Pixel 5, the 8 is still a bit too large and heavy for me, so the 8 Pro is a non-starter for me. As I run and cycle with my phone and want the smallest/lightest phone possible for that. Even the 8 still bounces too much during sprints on my arm strap due to its weight.
The battery life difference between the two phones in most of the reviews I've seen show a very minor difference as well.

I like smaller phone for it was the Pixel 7 for me and now the 8, only cause I broke the front glass of the 7 else no big reason to switch. The bigest reason I like the pixel 7-8 is that the main camera is just like the pro model where in the Samsung world it's not. I got the Pixel 8, and the dimensions alone make it the one to get. Also the hazel colorway is top notch (even though I currently have the mint case on it). Looks good, feels good. AFAIK the AI stuff that benefits me daily is largely cloud/serviced based, so if I'm missing out on (gemini?) stuff, I'm not aware of it, and happy.
For either one, I'd say buy a Pixel Stand, as my last two or three Pixels have been prone to USB bullsh*ttery after awhile. Never fully broken, but oftentimes a nuisance. I previously had a hard time buying a wireless charger that would fast charge, so I went with the stand, but I almost always "adaptive charge" anyway, so it might not have been entirely necessary (at such a premium).

@@unvarying I'm not the right person to ask because I don't use my phone as much as most others.
I woke up a couple of hours before my alarm, so my battery was at 90% (adaptive charging goes according to alarm, afaik), and that 90% was predicted to be 1d10hr worth of life for my usual usage.
edit: I should add that one of the reasons my usage stays low is because Google's launcher predicts a lot of what I'm going to look at my phone for. That's pretty cool.

I hated to trade in my pixel 3, two years ago. I had it for years with nothing to complain about. Stop spreading tales.
