We played this song at my mums funeral. Finally she was reunited with her big love again. I still can’t listen to this song without crying even though it has been 3 years now that she left us. I miss you so much mum and dad!
I admire this woman a lot. I'm a 40-year-old guy and this brought me to tears. How they don't break out in tears during these kinds of performances is beyond me.
@@rieslingsemillon7565 I know she has become my favorite, she is amazing, She needs to keep recording, but she also needs to be awarded the lifetime achievement award she deserves it big time.
@@rieslingsemillon7565 I will never stop listening to her beautiful voice, she is an angel with the most heartfelt angelic voice ever, what I've been through this last 20 years with my precious grandsons being severely abused by their stepdad, is the most heart broken I have ever been, and the loss of a friend in 1994, that just about did me in, then the abuse & torture of my grand babies
Many ladies have come close since her, especially Jennifer Nettles. However, it's probably a huge and correct call. In about 1979 or 1984,when she was at her peak, before becoming an excellent actress, she had one of the best voices ever. 👍😁🍺
OMG! Still listening to this beautiful song. Such a classic song that only Miss Bette can do justice. Sure other singers can do too but nothing beats the original. ❤️♥️🎆🎇👍👌
Perfect. Just Wow. Emotionally devastating and liberating all at once. Pitching, phrasing, harmonies, accompaniment; it's all top class. This is a masterclass of less is more in music and Bette's voice is just superb!
On this day in 1979 {Nov. 7th} the Bette Midler movie "The Rose" opened in theaters across the U.S.A. and Canada. The film received four Academy Award nominations; 'Best Sound', 'Best Score', 'Best Supporting Actor {Frederic Forrest, won by Melvyn Douglas for 'Being There'}, and 'Best Actress' {Bette Midler, won by Sally Field for 'Norma Rae'}. Two songs featured in the movie charted; "When A Man Loves a Woman" {#35} and "The Rose" {#3, which spent almost a half-year on the Top 100, 25 weeks}.
Good grief, what a beautiful voice. I remember watching her on a TV special in the early 70's. What a great energetic show she put on, in her boogie woogie bugle boys days. Nobody worked harder than she did to get where she is.
The Rose and Wind Beneath My Wings, both my favorites. Bette you are beautiful inside and out. Thank you for giving us music that makes our hearts sing, comedy that makes us laugh, and a soul that makes us soar!!!! Love ❤️ u Bette
There are only two female singers who should be allowed to sing this beautiful song. Nana Mouskouri and Bette Midler. Their voices are different and each brings the beauty of the songs lyrics to magnificent fruition.
Dưới có một con suối đẹp đang chạy dài lượng ngang qua sườn núi .. đó là một cảnh đẹp thiên nhiên mà con người không thể sáng tạo ra được bằng đôi tay khéo léo của con người ..…
The man singing with Bette is Buzz Feiten. He graduated a couple of years before me from Harborfields High School. He was prominent in band and went on to have a great career in music.
I say love it is a beauty in the soul, that sees everone for what they are and can never be hurt by anything because you keep your honesty real. thank you bette midler for doing what ever drugs you did in the 70s cause we will never again have the same mix of drugs and creativity...I love you all
I think that might be the best performance I have seen. (And I have seen dozens of her singing it live.) The re-arranging and her voice fit the room perfectly! Bravo!
I have cardiomyopathy. The same disease that Hillary had in the movie "beaches" starring Bette. It is controlled by medication, but I cannot stop the deterioration of my heart. I have already made my funeral arrangements and one of the songs is "The Rose". Peace
RIP Marcos it has been seven years since your comment. This disease is terminal. Unless through prayer or just an intervention you were healed by God. God bless.

No one can sing this song like Bette does!
