A superboss often appears in RPG games like this, often in the form of something mysterious and is meant for the ultimate challenge, not intentionally 100% fair. Plus, I’ve always seen giant mysterious spheres as something potentially divine anyways.
Wasn’t Ozma the hardest super boss in the FF series? I never battled him bc I lost my save file that I had from years, and didn't play that much after finishing the game. I did beat the super bosses from FF5 though, and the one in Chrono Trigger
I can't believe after all of these years I finally beat this boss for the first time on my first try today. Though I got extreme lucky because once Ozma used Meteor, somehow everyone except Zidane got wiped out. I had to quickly revive everyone with double casting Full life after using Phoenix down on a Tranced Eiko. I also used Vivi instead of Steiner since he used Return Magic to cast Doomsday back on Ozma . Freya and Zidane had to put in most of the damage though. Curse and Flare star also almost defeated my entire team at one point too.
@@moistyjurjes9084 yes. Coz FFVII has many glitch. Especially DMG glicth (barret or vincent) and duplicate item (W-item) Hero drink and Counter ( Counter and Counter attack) very strong in here U can beat Emerald and Ruby only using Counter+Mime
Ozma, has always one of the creepier bosses in the series because even now I still don't know what it's even supposed to be. It's supposedly an eidolon and yet it's nothing but a giant jawbreaker with both halves spinning in opposite directions. Why is it like this and why does it feel like fighting it is something I shouldn't be doing?
I've always wondered too, it's always been my fav optional boss. The fact it's "otherworldly" adds to the mystery. Like it's not even meant to be in the games world.
It also doesn't help that the area you fight it in somehow makes the encounter feel so much creepier to me once the battle starts. Like you're in a area you were never supposed to enter and Ozma is your punishment.
The curse is his counterattack, the way to dodge is to always have a character with an open turn, and wait for the other's turn to come back and do this successively in the fight. But unfortunately no one has the patience to use this method.
I somehow got EXTREMELY lucky with this boss battle and won on my first try today. I don't know how I did it because Meteor, Curse and Flare star almost took out my whole entire team. I would have hated it more if I kept losing to it.
@@Auroralights321I hear to be extremely lucky is to make sure you have 99 Phoenix Pinions and increase the chances of Rebirth Flames, return magic, the correct gear/equipment, etc. along with just being incredibly lucky.
@@jewellcleveland2226 I don't think I had that many Phoenix Pinions, but I did use one character with Return magic and had the right equipment. I also got extremely lucky because my whole team could have died plenty of times lol.
I would’ve used Steal and enable Mug. That’s the only thing useful for Zidane since he couldn’t reach Ozma. I managed to Steal pretty rare items. Forgot what it was.

compared to FFVII(Emerald Weapon) FFVIII(Omega Weapon) FFX (Nemesis) FFXII(Yiazmat), Ozma is the easiest boss to beat (under 10 min)
