I think the sicker a person is and the more improvements they see when going on the ketogenic diet, the more likely the person will work to stick with it. People with mental illness experience healing in a different way than someone who is obese or even diabetic and therefore it may be more sustainable for those people. That said, I know many people, like myself, that do not have any mental illness, and have no problem sticking to a low carb/ketogenic diet. I am very sure that I will be eating a whole food, low carb diet for the remainder of my life. It's not difficult. As a matter of fact, I find it quite enjoyable.

Dr Palmer, thank you for all your health.
My question: How much of a role does fasting and Autophagy play in the whole treatment/resolution of neurological disorders?
Does age play a role in the effectiveness of Keto and or fasting on neurological disorders?

I think teenage autistic or Aspbergers people can have “responses” in the family at young ages but it largely doesn’t matter. I think amphetamines can create negative symptoms in young adulthood. Schizophrenia in my opinion is an elongated reaction to what happens in that space for people with negative symptoms, perhaps social defeat and bullying situations in college, marijuana, poor environment situations and more responses to negative symptomology. A lot of people are realizing it has to do with the Lateral Habenula which is a small part of the brain that reacts to adverse social situations like “when you expect a good outcome to a joke or idea” and get an opposite type reaction. These things with marijuana, further amphetamine use depersonalization etc etc it all manifests mysteriously into schizophrenia for some people. Kind of like a SWITCH
I was previously diagnosed with schizotypal but have no mental health issues that run in my family or any history of mental health conditions or alcoholism.
