  • With a little help from Homedefence-24 we tuned the HDS.68. It should now be full power but it seems my gun was quite down on power to begin with. The mods done has made a huge improvement. #hds68 #umarexhds68 #t4e

Hi at 6:06 in your video you take out the small brass item. Did you put it back in? In video by Rune Rebel ‘Umarex HDS68, Powertuning’ at 2:40 in his video he says to take it out and not put it back in. Thanks

I did this same mod to mine and although the results were pretty good, it was inconsistent. So, I did a couple more things…now, very consistent and even more power.
-I took apart the selector valve and bored out the passage ways as much as I could without changing air flow direction or selector seal. I also very lightly buffed the selector and the top and bottom where it runs to make it smoother or less clunky feeling.
-Then when I reassembled the selector valve I used an epoxy that I really like and sealed the grove and channel it fits in so it was sealed air tight. New, they are less air tight than my tshirt…doesn’t matter how much you increase the air flow volume if it isn’t delivered to the projectile.
-then I disassembled the inner and outer barrels. On the ends of the two inner barrels, I put a pretty thin o-ring. When reassembled, the other end at the breech is the width of the o-ring further out…about a mm. Now I see no space between the barrels and gun when closed. Almost forgot…you also have to file about a mm or so off of the catch piece’s post because of alignment with the o-rings installed…if not now, it’s going to make sense when you reassemble.
Now it’s as powerful as I think it’ll go without some higher quality guts. And, it’s very consistent.
If it’s not sealed when you start it’ll only get worse when it gets colder as you shoot and the metals shrink…

Nice video Ben. It could be the temperature that makes it less "hot". I notised when testing my HDR50 that has the Powerkit50 installed that it gave a max 29 joules, this at 20C. When testing earliyer in a warm room (25C+) it gave as hi as 42 joules with the same slugs. You can also check the breach-seal. Shine a light down the barrels and se if you can se any light comming from gaps where the breach-seal pushes against the frame. Mine has a small leak there and I will try fix it soon. When I do I make a video. Keep up the great work. Cheers from your friend in Norway :)

You want weaker smooshier springs... it allows for the valve to stay open longer, putting more gas behind the projectile. If you use much stronger springs, the valve opens quickly, and springs closed faster = less power. A lot of people make this mistake thinker stronger bigger springs give you more power... not in these guns, tho. Same with the Umerax glock, S&w M&P 2.0, and the ppq pistols... he did all the work on that S&w M&P 2.0, but he didn't put a weaker spring it the magazine valve. Just by switching a weaker smooshier spring in the mag valve... the pistol 1st shot is 375 FPS and then drops about 10 fps each shot with a 12 gram cart. I made an extended mag from a Umerax riffle mag and the top half of the stock mag. Then I put a 2 - 12gram co2 adaptor valve in with the extra room, and the thing kicks so hard!! It feels like the slide is gonna blow off the back, lol.

I modded mine pretty heavily. It got the uppowered pin, the plastics sleeve removed from the valve and I removed the throttle. I also changed the gas mount out to accept 90 gram carts. I use an on/off valve to allow me to drain them of pressure and they stand ready at all times. I can also use 16 or 25 gram carts. I feel that they give up more pressure than the smaller 12grsmm am carts. Unfortunately I blew out the valve stem o ring and the pressure release valve gives me a lot of trouble. I think I am exceeding the tolerances of the design and I am going to blow it to pieces unless I step it down a notch.

You're definitely doing something wrong, because I only took out the restrictor and put in the exact same mod in the 16j version and mine went from sounding like a paintball gun to a shotgun. No means of measuring velocity or power, but from the same vendor who sold me as well as you the valve, I can put one of those large, freebie, bearing bits that you get with purchase clean through 1/4" plywood at about 30 ft away.. maybe 20 ft... And before it wouldn't even go through a plastic garbage can. Now it blasts a rather large hole through the plastic garbage can... Almost sounds like a real shotgun at night where I live in the hollar as well.

I've just taken my 7.5J version apart, and that tiny brass piece is a flow reducer. It sits in the very end of the thin brass pipe which runs from the Co2 cartridge chamber towards the trigger/main mechanism. Some people seem to have removed it when modding, others haven't. There's a tiny rubber o-ring which fits on the brass pipe right next to it, so removing the flow restrictor might technically provide a slight gap (I'm talking a fraction of a millimetre) between the end of the pipe and the valve chamber. However, I lubed my o-ring (lol) generously with grease and it hasn't leaked any Co2, but it might have done if the rubber o-ring started to get thin from drying out or cracking. Hope that helps!

They tell me that modifying the 7.5joule version of either gives better results. If you like the six shots of a revolver go for the TR50/HDR50 or if you prefer the shotgun type then its HDS68. I would recommend Homedefence-24 with quality parts that really do the job.
