I have mine!! Found a great deal on Craigslist. Someone had it for only about 6 months and only flew it 3 times!! I bought the beacon and some extra propellers and so very happy with it. I used the tracking and actually tried to see if I could get away from it. The result was...it stuck with me, even when I went behind some trees. Once it lost me out of its sight and it actually began looking for me and found me. Now, understand, I use the beacon so, my understanding is that the beacon is the best way to go. I have not used the controller yet. I will soon. This is super fun to fly with. I can literally get it off the ground, jump on my bike and not worry about it.
SKYDIO: what happens in hover mode when the subject (phone and/or beacon) goes out of range? Will the unit reposition and hover again? I would like to position the Skydio half way down a ski run and have it capture me as I go by. But then I'll exit beacon/phone range and don't want to have to hike back up to the bird to gain control again.
Hey as a suggestion for your next drone use a TOF sensor ( Like most smartphones ) It only has about a range of about 10 feet but it can work in complete darkness, smaller than a penny and can provide 3D depth data. Combining this with cameras that have a bigger sensor can improve the low-light and tiny obstacles ( like wires ) greatly.
Technically, yes, the FAA looks at monetization on UA-cam as a commercial application. However, you can always post videos without monetizing them until you pass the part 107 test. At that point, you will be able to make money flying your drone in more ways than just monetizing on UA-cam.
