i'd pay money to hear merle haggard snore! In fact I bet if you put a mic up to his mouth for 2 minutes and fifty seconds it would sound better than any of the crap on country stations today!!!!

The last of the breed! There will never be another Merle. Had the privilege of meeting him about 15 years ago outside the Cow Palace in San Francisco before a gig.

My Granddaughter was home on leave from the Navy and we spent a weekend togather before she went back. I was lucky enough to have gotten good seats a couple of rows back to a Merle concert. He was given so much respect. The people were so quiet when he sang you would have heard a whisper across the room. When he finished a song people stood , cheered, clapped their hands etc, When he stepped back to the mic they all sat quiet. You could almost feel the awe in the room.
My Granddaughter said " Nana , now I know why you loved this guy and his music ". It was a wonderfull weekend. Great memories.

I have watched video's of the Hag ALL OVER THE WORLD FROM A VERY YOUNG HAG TO HIS GRACEFUL AGE TODAY AND I HAVE SEEN THAT HE TAKES THE CROWD BY STORM AND WOW'S THEM ALL THE WAY TO THE END OF HIS CONCERT, NOW FOLKS IT TAKE'S ONE GREAT ENTERTAINER TO DO THIS AND RIGHT TILL THE TIME THE HAG LEFT THE STAGE JUST RECENTLY TO BE HOSPITALIZED HE GAVE THE FAN'S EXACTLY WHAT THEY CAME FOR. MERLE HAGGARD WILL ALWAYS BE THE GREATEST ARTIST TO COME OUT OF NASHVILLE, TENN. AND THAT IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE GREATEST SHOW EVER TO COME TO YOUR TOWN OR MINE. GOD BLESS AMERICA'S HAG THE BEST ENTERTAINER IN THE BUSINESS. JORGIA TAYLOR BARKER

Correction Merle Haggard didn't come out of Nashville. He came out of California. He never lived in Nashville either. He is the best there ever was and ever will be

Walked offstage like a boss! These so-called country singers out today prance around in their skinny jeans begging for more attention. Merle does the job and freaking walks off LOL! True legend!

He is the GREATEST,I picked him up in my Cadillac convertible at San Diego airport back in the late 70s or early 80s and took him and his managers to there home in Olivenhain ,Ca and he gave me his picture and signed it.
I was living in Encinitas,Ca at the time now I live in the ranch with my wife and horses.

Merle & boys were at a recording session, he went out to the bus & found his bus driver sitting there aggravated. Merle asked what was bothering him. He replied, 'I'm tired of this city (LA, I think). Merle then asked where he would like to be. The driver replied, 'somewhere in Montana'. Merle proceeded to write the song 'Big City' & gave half the song writing credit to his driver, the song became a huge hit and made the driver wealthy.

On one of his stops in Hartford, CT (early 1970s) he sat with us at a local Italian place and ate one of their 32" sausage grinders. That grinder (sub) raised hell with his stomach. We went to his show at The Bushnell Auditorium that night. The Strangers played an extended opening set. After 20 minutes Merle's voice came over the intercom explaining he had eaten a bit too much and would be out in a few minutes. He did hit the stage soon after...and played a 3-hour show!!!
