I changed the clutch and DMF on my Audi A3 Quattro - I had to change it FIVE times because of numerous things (I put the clutch in the wrong way, they sent the wrong clutch, the second clutch was faulty, I had trapped the backplate and it got tangled in the flywheel, and then the crank seal went). I bought a new clutch, flywheel and CSC from VW (it was genuine Sachs). Never buy cheap - as you say about Euro Car Parts Transmech, they are cheap, Chinese crap bought in bulk by ECP.
the clutch adjustment was out, no free play between release bearing and clutch cover you could hasve saved a lot of work if you had found there was no free play
Thankyou, im not so calm and collected on the inside 🤣. Surprisingly on this gearbox I did not need to drain the oil, the vag driveshafts seperate at a flange instead of the usual way
Just curious if you’ve got a link for the clutch kit? just done a clutch on my car last weekend and I’m confident I can do the van, also used a LUK clutch, did you use a new genuine Vw release bearing? When doing my car I didn’t use the luk bearing just s new Toyota one
I have the 1.6tdi version myself and can tell you now.stay clear of the 1.6tdi versions as they are nothing but problems.there is plenty of videos on here with comments backing up what I am saying. I used to have a 2001 caddy for10+ year's and was super reliable.to the point I did nothing major in 10+ years. As where the 1.6tdi .i have had it for about a year and a half and spent almost what paid for it in repairs. Awful awful van.wish I stuck with my old caddy now.
@@MegaTyson25 hi mate, thanks for your input. I did think TDi had one more thing to go wrong. Ive had SDi Lupo and it was solid. Only issue was it used to vibrate like mad. Was looking for something decent but all SDis are high mileage
Is this a 1.6tdi version by any chance?. As I've had nothing but problems with mine and it's a 1.6tdi and since buying found out they are problem prone. Quick question.just had someone change my clutch.would they have needed to undo the lower arm bolts to change my clutch ?
Was the clutch pedal hard to press because i have a golf mk6 1.6tdi and my clutch pedal is very heavy and it gets worse on summer and when you get stuck on traffic.
@@rowanlewisuk My apologies, they usually dmf aren't they, has someone converted it to solid flywheel? Just had new clutch and dmf in my Touran LUK of course
Great to see you on top of the VW........great content.......stay safe.........thanks for sharing
Is the engine hanging on the one mount
Great video, my clutch pedal squeaking on mine 😠
How many miles had the clutch done. What were the reason to replace

Does it have a dual mass flywheel?

Top effort mate.
Great job ! You are very calm and collected and explain things very well. I assume you had to drain the gearbox oil aswel ?👍 from North East England

How much are the rear door locking mechanisms?
£80+
Hi Mate what was the timing on doing the clutch? I am a stead guy and do my own work like you
I take my time so was about 8 hours over 3 days
Nice video, How much time did it take you to swap thé clutch?
@@francisraemdonck3601 i did about 3-4 hours a day it took me 3 days. I did it over christmas holidays and took my time
hi mate, great job. is this a SDI or TDi?
Thinking about getting one of these.

You had many issues with this 1.6tdi.as these ones are known for being super unreliable engines etc.
What clutch was that you put in??
Luk i think
Probably the diesel from the leak off pipe got into the box caused the clutch to slip
Definitely possible although there was no evidence of it and was the factory clutch
@@rowanlewisuk Glad you fixed it done well there, can be a Horrible job
Spray grease will be better for the squeaky pedal bud
I'd have changed the dmf too, after doing all that work
I would have too but it doesn’t have a dmf to change

@@TheCopperknob i read that too but apparently the commercial vw have solid flywheels instead
