I don't like to be an elitist or act like everything I'm into is objectively superior, but I have to be honest and agree. Metal, at its best at least, shits on almost anything else, to my ears. The most talented bands just come up with unbelievably incredible stuff.
This album is going to be genuine art. From ruin we rise alone is not just a song it is a story and it's gorgeous how yall put it together. Super excited for the new album keep the greatness coming bois yall are genuinely the kings of this shit right now.
I love Ben's approach to the vocals on this album, he doesn't just change vocal techniques every other word like most other deathcore vocalists seem to do. Everyone knows he can do the techniques, it just seems like he's not trying to be part of the vocal Olympics that seem to have taken over lately. I think it makes the album sound much more fluid... well, that and the fact that everyone else in the band is insanely talented. In my opinion Elegy is one of the best deathcore albums of all time, and easily the best deathcore album of the past 5-10 years.

Found out from Spotify today that I'm was in this year's top 0.5% of Shadow of Intent listeners. Just saw you guys live in Michigan a couple weeks ago and am SO stoked for Elegy to come out. Tempted to head out to Detroit and see you guys in Feb with Whitechapel again.
Knowing these guys are from CT gives me hope. Being from RI that doesn't have much of a music scene, let alone metal, seeing small town homies finding ways to make music work is sick

Elegy is great. It's been literally years since I've front-to-back listened an entire (melo)death(core)metal album and enjoyed it through. Extremely pleasantly surprised - you guys (and perhaps some Lorna Shore thrown in there) are getting me back into the music. But I appreciate the variety on Elegy above all else.

Wintersun literally received 500k euros and released a mediocre 4 song EP and a 2 minute song in a span of 5 years. Shadow released a banger of a records with masterful themes with a 10% of Wintersun's budget.

Have loved you guys since stumbling upon the Reclaimer album. From Ruin We Rise has become my new favorite since the three songs with the Elegy EP was released. Can’t wait to hear more!
Just to let you know, Elegy is not an ep, it is a full album, and it has thirteen or fourteen songs on it. Technically the title track is split into three songs. It comes out on January 14th.
It's really interesting to see the creative process behind one of the biggest forces in deathcore today. Hope we get this from every members perspective! Stoked for the next installment and the new album!

It's really awesome that you got your inspiration from your great grandfather. Sounds like he wasn't far from Band of Brothers type shit. My gf's great grandfather was at Iwo Jima. It really is crazy and strange to look up at the stairs at night and think of what must be happening on the opposite side of the world.
I fucking love the Nile shirt shoutout. A lot of modern bands don't seem to even know bands that paved the way for metal. Amongst the catacombs of nephren-ka was one of my 1st true metal albums I got into. Mad respect for SOI for paying homage even if it's just in a shirt 💯
