Your explanation helped my son tremendously in clarifying the independent vs dependent variables for his science class. (good refresher for me, too). Thank you - well done.
Thank you so much for this video, I have read thousands of definitions and none of them make sense to me. But after watching this video it all clicks now! thanks.
I think in this case, the control group is the absence of light or at least the "normal" (sun) light. But you cannot choose a group randomly for no reason, only "because it seems like a control" is not an argument. Unless you have tested already white light and sun light and you know they are the same.
I'm considering the "normal" situation or control to be the white light but it certainly would not be darkness or absence of light. This is a basic example used to teach the parts of experiments in a simple way. Thanks for watching!
Good vid. Other variables could be so many unthought of things. Where the wifi is. Should not be closer to any of the plants than others. Also Sound. Sound encourages growth, also heat, though its easy to make sure the plants are not near a heater and air in room from top to bottom is generally the same. Other variables, keeping the lights separate from each other. Full moon is also a variable but maybe too small to matter.
Ok, on a graph, the independent variable will always be on the bottom or x-axis and the dependent variable will be vertical or y-axis. Does that help? Maybe I should make a video on that...
What about the same amount of space the pot is in? What about the distance from the light to the plant? What about the same starting size of the plant?
For the control variables, you forgot to mention the plant. Though it may have been assumed, the plant has to be the same in every scenario in order for it to be a fair test, otherwise, your recording will not be accurate; it could be the case where some plant's grow faster than other in certain environments.

Thank you very much I’ve been reading different literature about IV and DV and have been so confused
This video finally explained it to me 😃👍🏻
thank you sooo much! im in seventh grade, but I needed to refresh my memory a little bit, bc im doing high school science courses. :)

Thank you so much.
Because tomorrow I have a quiz and I don't understand very good this topic but whit you I already understand 👍👍😄
That is a great video. Thank you Sir. for your time. Keep up the good work.
Im in school watching this LOL. please speak up :D
Thanks a lot! I’m in 5th grade and SOL’s are coming and I suck at science so I really want to practice so that I can ace this test ❤❤
Great video.....needed this to understand & help my son with his homework....definitely subscribing!! Thank you so much!!
This was so helpful for my assignment thank you!!!
Thanks!! I have a quiz tomorrow that i cant fail and this helped me understand soooooo much! Thank you so much!!

Yes we need the answer three years later. Did you pass?
Thank you so much for this video, I have read thousands of definitions and none of them make sense to me. But after watching this video it all clicks now! thanks.

this helped me learn about russia's history. thank you comrade.
Thank you so much, it's very helpful
Thanks you halped alot with my stem fair project thank you very much
Thank you for this video my science teacher assigned it for our midterm tomorrow this will help out a lot
great to hear, thanks!
My science teacher needs me to watch this
Thank you so much! This really helped me with my upcoming science test!
awesome, glad it helped!!
Thanks a lot! It is really helpful. Can you please share extraneous variable explanation also. I'll be thankful for this.
thank you this helped a lot!
I was stuck but after this video I wasn't!
This video helped with my assignment
Thank you, this is helpful!

This helped me lead about what they are but I don't know how to put them on a chart or graph.

Nice vid.
thanks, appreciate it!
Hi sir! is it okay if the control variable is more effective compared to the experiment I made?
They made me watch dis video in tha school thingy
Go Mr Bollendorf!!!!!!
Rhat is really good
This video helped a lot but my only question is what would you do if there was an experimental group?
The experimental groups in this example are all of the ones receiving different colors of light.
Same
You forgot the type of plant as the most important constant. But we liked your video.
agreer
Mrs. Yuen brought me here :DD
What about the same amount of space the pot is in? What about the distance from the light to the plant? What about the same starting size of the plant?
yes, they would all have to be held constant as well
this video helped alot in my project. thanks :D
+TheBeastChris topher Great!

You are correct, thanks for pointing that out and for watching, Brian!

Hi
If you have a science teacher named ms. Robertson, and you have to watch this for her class, reply here.
If you are being forced to watch this you can put it on 2x speed and be done with it twice as fast.
