I have watched this 5 years down the line since you posted the video, but the content is still very relevant, thank you. Two points of interest though: 1) I happen to know a very young and very successful 6 figure Spaniard trader & hedge fund manager, who also made use of the Ichimoku (Mind you, I was as surprised). 2) I have used very high end and latest strategies and technical analysis to trade with, and the Ichimoku is STILL among the best in order to generate profits with! At much less discretionary inputs!
As a young investor I had to wash windows and paint fences for two years before my mentor would teach me this beautiful art, and now with youtube it's given to everyone for free. Technology has taken us so far!
I tried this indicator last week on the H4 , 4 days later I took home 2k profit. Thank you very much VP.

I'm about 70% through the core concepts and setting up my system. The homework I made for tonight was to look into Ichimoku, because I know I needed a trend confirmation indicator. I found this and felt like gold. You're a good teacher man.
Believe me, if you need some indicator to confirm a trend, which is not a trend. A trend should jump out of your screen.

Just checked all my open trades against Ichimoku and coincidentally they were all on the proper side of the cloud. may consider back testing some kind of exit entry there but overall I am catching some pretty big moves already. I never saw much result from my trading until I found this channel now I'm doing great!
Dude, thank you SO much. Definitely going to try this. You hit the nail on the head: new (margin) trader and *discpline* is certainly something I've struggled with. I'm just all over the board, so to speak. But it's getting better. I think this methid, as you said, will kind of hone everything down into a more focused method, allowing you to simply stay in the game, while gaining experience. I'm excited to try it! I actually just checked the assets I trade and not a one of them meet the ichmoku criteria (one is very close, red crossed under blue, and under cloud; but the green line or third line is Above the cloud! so that's a no go, unfortunately... But I really like it. Thanks

I went on UA-cam with the Ichimuko name and it was a God-given of freshwater to me. I just want to say Thank you for these videos. This is a great and easy-going way for my passive trading style.

Just got back from back testing and I have to say, this tool, combined with 2 other indicators of mine, is overkill. The banks won't see me coming.

I do use the Ichimoku cloud. If you have rules and stick with them. It is profitable.

Best indicator ever. it took me awhile to get it down well.I wish i saw your video early. I practice it with paper trading for 6 months. it is slow but the winning rate is very high if you follow the rules. this indicator works very well with crypto as well

also the chikou span as far as Goichi Hosoda was concerned is the most important part of the ichimoku cloud system as it tells you so much if you know how to use it properly!!!
Thank God I already learned Ichimoku a year ago which was a head ache at first. You really cleared some things up and simplified it in this video VP.
You can also add Ichimoku to your MT4 mobile app.

I rarely comment but i can agree with everything you said 100%. I used Ichimouku for a couple of weeks and it absolutely tought me the discipline to NOT take a trade. I was pretty much not trading anything for weeks, despite looking at the charts every single day. And when you started talking about the "baseline", my thought was "ah, so it´s like the Ichimouku cloud! :D". I too think that it´s a great tool but i started to become so bored with never trading, that i went back to playing around with indicators and their settings in a way that allows me to take more trades, since Ichimouku does keep you out of alot of really good opportunities too. On the other hand, you rarely take a bad trade, gotta admit that. ^^ I guess it´s probably more interesting for longer term swing trading or investing.

What is the best time frame to use Ichimuko?
I'm using Ichimoku together with ATR below the chart. ATR helps me with TP and SL calculations.
@Ryan Johnson I only use the ATR. The thickness and direction of the kumo tell volumes (pun intended). :)

When the price is in the kumo on the H2 chart, do not give up, but change the timeframe to H1. I hope my comment helps someone. The Ichimoku theory is valid on all the timeframes.

I know the ichimoku cloud very well...exceptionally well in fact...and the one problem with the cloud in forex is that the ichimoku is meant for only trading in trends..i find that in forex there are too many consolidations and you get alot of false signals

You have once mentioned about IKH some time ago, but never thought about IKH to be brought up like that. Myself being Japanese, the IKH is very well known here but it is taught/described as subjective indicator that the trader to make discretional decision. BUT step back and put it in NNFX way, it is mechanical and systematical indicator as long as discipline gets accompanied.
If you could pronounce the third syllable "HYO" well, not as HAIO, but "HI" like Hippo/Hit/Hip and "Yo", could have been PERFECT, LOL. Audio file is there.

VP, finally THE video I was waiting for. I´m trading Ichimoku since a while and quit succesfully… By getting more experience able to enter a bit earlier in the trades. One humble tip… keep an eye on the Kijun sen ;)

I approve of this video except the part you spelling Tenken-Sen wrong. Chikou span is the most important line if anything especially when it comes avoiding fake outs. Also there is a way to trade within the cloud.
This is the style I trade but I trade it differently from the taught way. Each component is important independently and separately and advance users definitely laugh because it has many secrets. But I love that you touched on this because it's not know well.
Works very well with cryptocurrency.

for the ones that like to trade with Renko, ichimoku can be very interesting maybe more for day trading
Kumo breakout
1/ Renko must print a bar that fully closes above/under the Kumo cloud
2/ Kinjun & Tenkan should have crossed in the direction of price ( bullish or bearish)
3/Chikou span must have crossed the Kumo
4/Kumo twist
5/ when all conditions are in place we enter a trade
Strong Tenkan/Kinjun crossover
1/if above the kumo for a strong bullish crossover the 2 lines must accross above the kumo, if under the kumo for a strong bearish cross over the 2 lines must cross under the kumo
2/we enter when Renko has a full close bar above or under the cross
Hello, I'm like a beginner and I'm in cripto. Please tell me is default setup ok or should I use different setup? is there some kind of scaner that warns you to take trade. That you dont have to watch all the time?
In the part 1 video, it was mentioned that forex price momentum changes in 3 major ways: reaction to trader sentiment, major news, and big banks pumping money in. But ICHIMOKU can't predict those. So.. I've exclusively been using the ICHIMOKU strategy (keeping very disciplined, too), only day trading Cryptocurrencies.. for about two weeks now. I've come up positive literally every day so far. Is there some reason trading ICHIMOKU w/cryptos would work better than with forex? Or have I just been getting lucky???
Cool, I've look at this and was like, OK! Look Very busy and the lines I understood was the red and blue. Now thanks to you, I know how to use this tool correctly. But there is on thing you didn't mention. If you get Long indicator, and the cross connection is over the clouds and the Chikou is over the clouds, and you take a trade Long, but during that Long trade, the lines go and the candle go in the cloud, do we close the trade, or it's not important will we are in a trade?
mmm...I'm a bit sceptical about Ichimoku as I tried it before I found your channel (Although I found it easier to trade and understand) and also the algo I put together with your guidance is producing like crazy (Like in more perfect - I cannot ask from you). Yikes! I installed with the default settings 9,26,52,26 and nothing close to this is as far as the Kijun and the Tenkan lines. The cloud looks about the same. I'll play with the settings a bit... Looking back there were some good trades to be had but not too many better than my current system modified after watching the VP vids. Thanks VP for the tutorial.

I don't trade forex. Actually, I retired last year when the sec changed the etf trading requirements. That was enough for me. I was fortunate to have it to use for so long. This is an excellent strategy for beginners to use while researching and testing other indicators for the algorithm. Not the best system by any means, but with it's disciplinary approach and your money management guide to risk and stop losses, as well as using the ATR to take profit off the table early, and finally having the tenkan-sen line tell you when to exit. This system does a very good job of preserving capital and earning small gains. Remember traders, you win when you don't lose! Patience is the key to developing your algorithm, but this system will let you enjoy learning to trade the NNFX way while you research! Cheers VP.
