I followed your video and found 4 bad capacitors. Ordered and replaced them (haven’t done that before, but followed another video) and now I have a perfectly functioning unit. Thank you so much. The quality, pace and detail was perfect!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I went to use my ES40V and got the F40 error. After finding your video I followed your excellent steps. I replaced 4 capacitors and the problem was fixed. You saved the day for me.
just to add even more onto my appreciation, that capacitor that failed on yours, also failed on mine. i've always had an interest in electronics and desired more knowledge on how to repair things such as this (i have a sega dreamcast that i've been itching to do mods on) and this is the perfect excuse to dive into it. thank you so much, again
Thank you for your very thorough approach. I didn't expect to ever find a video on this specific error after all these years. Looking forward to having my machine up and running again soon.
Great video! The SMT caps on the underside of the digital board below the DVD drive are also almost always bad on these DMR-ES Series - but I don't think they prevent the unit from functioning - you just probably aren't getting ideal DVD encoding/processing.
I have an F-60 Error after replacing the Cap’s that were faulty. Not an F-40 Error. Any idea what that might be. I see there are two errors talked about here. Now, I have to start all over again. I replaced 3 Cap’s that were bulging and leaking. I was careful looking for suspect bad capacitors. Thanks, Michael
figured out what my problem was; i was under the impression that using a replacement capacitor with the same or higher voltage AND uF rating is alright. turns out that's only the case for the voltage rating and NOT the uF. learn something new every day!

Excellent! I am glad the video was helpful.

This is the best video on UA-cam! Thank you for solving this error and showing step by step on how to fix it
THANK YOU. this video will be like a fine wine and only age gracefully as time passes 🍷

How to identify Part Number, where to order capacitors?
do you know if lowESR electrolytic capacitors can be used to replace the ones in this player?
Low ESR caps should be fine.

@@cannabisanomaly Where do you buy to capacitors?
@@davidmccarten9456 i’ve only purchased mine from ebay, but i’m sure there’s plenty of other good places (amazon, etc)
Replace both caps / Now able to play BUT we have a split screen displaying ... Would you have any idea what would cause it ..??
Hard to say since I can not see it. If the screen is split horizontally, you might have a tracking error. More likely to show up on EP tapes.
@@c.davidgraves4848 ALSO screen split is vertical ????
After all this time the deck is till sitting on my table ... Hard to give up .. Yes the screen split is vertical all the time when on ..
