Yup that’s what I do make my own ephemera from magazines sale adds newspapers everything! Love your videos I can keep up with you!! Everyone else goes to fast for me to keep up with. I’m 73 and my husband is 86 and a doll most of the time 😆
All of my artwork comes from magazines. The one thing that I have learned from cutting out magazine images is that it would be time efficient to separate the images by themes (flowers, automobiles, people, etc.). It is time consuming enough to sit and cut everything out so having to go through piles of images until you run across ‘the one’ is a hassle sometimes. But if someone is on a tight budget like myself then it is very well worth using this method. I have the mesh material from an old potato bag. I am learning how to add texture to my pages. I thought that the mesh type material would make for a good pocket on a page-somehow. I have not tried it yet but I plan on using it in the journal that I am currently working on. But using it as a stencil is a good idea as well. Your videos are not boring to me. You are very thorough when explaining the process of your techniques and I appreciate that a lot. You seem to be naturally talented when it comes to this world of creating junk journals so whatever you do, do not sell yourself short. If someone really wants to learn helpful and useful ways of creating junk journals then they will stick around. Sometimes, depending on how my day is going I might not be able to sit and watch a video in its entirety but I will come back at a more convenient time and watch. You have a gift and you are sharing it with the world and for that I want to say thank you💐🙂💜
That’s a good idea to separate the images by theme. That might be more helpful for beginners too. I may use that idea when I do the ephemera video, I will give you the credit for it! 😁 Thank you for your kind words. 💗
@@ChrissyDesigned As long as we are all learning something helpful and useful then I am good. I appreciate you allowing me to share some of my tips with you and your subscribers. I use to think that my ideas were lame because of me not being a junk journal guru but after reading comments on different videos from a lot of content creators I realized that there are others out just like myself that is still trying to learn and feel intimidated because they do not have the latest and the greatest of supplies to create junk journals. My journals may not look as polished but they are mine and I really like them and that is what matters.🙂💜
LOVE the ideas! I have started me an ephemera collection from fussy cutting pictures from magazines, calendars, etc. I enjoy seeing what everyone finds, the possibilities are endless. I'm definitely going to try the chalk painting for covering background pages. Tfs 🤗🌸
I’m gathering up all my magazines & going to try to tackle making an ephemera book from the images. Lol 😳 I like how the chalk paint dries so fast & doesn’t warp the pages too bad. It also adds some thickness to thinner pages I wouldn’t have otherwise used. 😊
I’ll admit that I have a ton of storebought craft supplies but it’s frugal videos like this that really get me excited to make things. Love your many wonderful ideas!
I think it’s fun to challenge myself with not using any of my store bought craft supplies. I wouldn’t be able to go for too long bc I do love the convenience but it’s fun to tap into to that creative side every now & then. Lol 💗
@@ChrissyDesigned ❤️❤️❤️ I’m so excited to see this project progress! I agree that it’s fun to challenge yourself. I have gathered a bunch of magazines to make a back-to-basics journal along with you. I loved the tip of how to make chalk paint and to make your own backgrounds this way. It may seem so simple but honestly I never thought of it before. Also how to look at different types of junk mail and what their purpose can be. Truly, I love every minute!
I so adore you! Thank you for all your great tips and tricks! All your videos are so helpful for people with fixed income and time saving, I’m a caregiver…❤ 😊 You also motivate me! 🙏🤗🥳 Ty & Blessings Ps yes please more tips & tricks also can you show how you make the paper dolls? I’m going to try to make a couple doll journal for my granddaughter for Christmas 😊🙏
Love the idea of the tare book. I uesd decrotive plates in the journals that I made for my great grandchildren. They were from thier birthday party. Ive also used paint sampel cards. The coffer/tea sprays dont keep even in the fridge. Ask me how I know. Lol
Yes the coffee or tea sprays are pretty much a one day maybe 2 day use thing. Lol I usually do all my dyeing in large batches on the same day so I don’t really need the spray but sometimes it would be nice to have it for a small quick project. Lol
Chrissy I love your ideas! I bought some lotion and some perfume at Victoria Secret and they wrapped it with white and pink tissue paper with their name on it and put it in a bag. It was so neat. I asked if I could have a few more of the tissue paper for a craft and she gave me some 😊 Tear pages are a great idea to have onn hand. Thank you for this very helpful video. Oh yeah have you ever used alcohol ink? I got some for 70% off. Only I don't know how I can use it or if I have to use it on a special kind of paper, lol. Any ideas?
Oh wow 🤩 you got lucky score! I love everything Victoria Secret. Lol I have one small little bag I got years ago from there that I’ve been saving & anytime I get something that can be used in a journal I put it in that bag & hopefully one day I’ll be able to make a Victoria Secret junk journal!! 🥰 Playing with alcohol inks is really fun! I love finding discounts like that! You must be having a real lucky streak! 😁 You can make some really cool backgrounds with them & some cool stamping. I think I did a video on them awhile back but I can’t remember. But I can definitely do a little short tutorial. I don’t know a ton about them but I can show you what I do know. Lol 😂
