Thanks for the Ted Greene lesson. I was fortunate to take lessons from Ted in the late 60's/early 70's. I was 14, too young to fully appreciate the resource that I had and got sidetracked by girls, surfing, and school. I picked up the guitar again when I was in my 40s and was amazed at how much I remembered from my time with Ted. I haven't gone a day without playing the guitar since then.
I’ve been trying to play Ted’s arrangements for years and have improved playing some of the chord shapes….but some are still impossible. Your pinkie is a good inch longer than mine….I wish I was that well endowed! 👍🍷😂
ha ha ha ha....you're not moving your head side to side enough. And your sound is way too good. Love it. I was at GIT when Ted would have these lead sheets handed out to however wanted one. He would crack jokes and play impossible things on his guitar. Joe Diorio, and Joe Pass would occasionally hold classes, but they were not nearly as fun. I still have all the chord handouts somewhere in my boxes. He's the equivalent of the mad scientist in his lab. And in the end - he creates life.
Same, chord chemistry is so overwhelming!!! But you really are supposed to go back n forth between different chapters, its not meant to be read in chronological order.
An important note is that page with all the basic chord shapes n sounds he said you should memorize, some of those are rootless chords, so it will be called Cmajor7 or 9 but it's an Em7 or something if you name the actual notes. You just have to know the basics enough to know that its a rootless voicing
The wholesome practise vibe is just majestic AF. The X‘s round too long! Your Improv‘s are wonderful. Try this! Play a improvised melody line and, on the last note, hold it, listen to it, then make this note the third of the next chord. Makes for infinite movement.
Never seen a novax guitar before. That's pretty wild. Love the sound/tone you got going and the sweet mellow chords. "I don't even like hanging out in bars...." 🤣
