Taking a look at a Helix 6 Precision Carbon Fiber Barrel...
This was a really awesome project I got to work on with Helix 6 Precision and Q LLC. Basically getting a semi custom barrel setup from Helix 6 Precision for my MiniFix by Q. Switching it from the standard 5.56 or 300 Blackout to 6.8 SPC. And then with it, getting to do a bunch of shooting. Competing with it in Desert Brutality 2022, shooting it with my boys as well as brining down deer with it.
There are some incredible properties to the Helix 6 Precision barrels, in part due to how they are able to wrap their barrels in the carbon fiber.

6.8spc necked down to 6mm aka 6mm-6.8 is a wicked small frame 6mm cartridge... its getting pretty darn close to 243 velocities out of shorter barrels..

I heard they don't make good barrels for precision rifles, because carbon barrels will give you a flyer every 1 or 2 groups. I bet that's why your second groups were so much bigger than the first ones.

watching the footage from desert brutality, it looks like the trigger pull is kinda long before it breaks, is that the case or does it just look like that?

I couldn't possibly justify this price. Not with Daniel Defense, FN, and Criterion. I could buy 4-5 quality barrels for the cost of this one

Are carbon barrels just super skinny barrels wrapped in carbon?
Yes it makes them super light compared to normal barrels.
Structurally, yes. The chamber and bore are still steel, since carbon cannot hold rifling. If I'm not mistaken, there's actually enough steel in a carbon-wrapped barrel to be able to shoot safely without the carbon fiber sleeve. The sleeve is there to provide rigidity and (in some cases) additional thermal dissipation
Wow, for a bolt gun, these aren't very good groups at all. This may be from the barrel or a combination of things.
So a thousand dollars more than a criterion core with shittier performance. Sign me right up!
