The drummer Pau writes most of their music and lyrics, and is a great singer as well. You should check out the live version of their song Narcisista, written and sung by Pau, which was written as a response to the people who criticized them for writing in English only rather than their native Spanish. I think this was the debut performance of the song, in their hometown of Monterrey - the video is titled " Narcisista - THE WARNING - En Vivo en Foro DiDi Monterrey". It's a killer song and performance. Also check out "Dust to Dust - THE WARNING - LIVE at Lunario CDMX" to hear another song sung by Pau.
I'm also new to the band, and I'm blown away by how catchy their songs are, and I can't figure out how they do it. I figured I'd find some trick they use over and over, like a certain key change at the chorus, or something. Instead they seem to use fairly standard chord progressions, and usually stick to diatonic chords. In this song they don't even change the chord progression at the chorus, they keep the same Em C G B7 progression from the verse. This chorus explodes using only a new melody, and a change in the rhythm. I'm shocked by how much they achieve with so little. It's just great song writing, and you either have it or you don't. And they have it.
They refer to their secret as “sibling magic”. Have you listened to their second album Queen of the Murder Scene? Dull Knives is part of the album, a straightforward song, but an early contribution.
Welcome Justine! All three sisters are classically trained on piano from a very early age. I’m sure that has a lot to do with their composition skills. On top of that, Pau on drums is a force of nature musical talent. Most of their song ideas start with her.
@@mt4design2 Looking at the track liast I've heard about half of them. Dust To Dust and Red Hands Never Fade are definite stand outs. PSYCHOTIC I also remember liking, and Dull Knives is obviously great. Pretty ambitious of them to put out a concept album so early. The songs I've listed were all super catchy that's for sure.
@@RandyTWA I'm pretty familiar with Pau, she was an instant hit with me. Her energy is amazing, and she plays and sings with full conviction, every single time. She's a very impressive performer, and has been since the earliest clips I've seen. She was what convinced me to give the band more of a chance, and I'm glad I did. I wrote them off for years as a gimmick, but I was wrong. They're all very talented, and have shown a lot of growth over the years, from what I've seen. Cheers.
Not a musician but the best I can describe it is that they don't overload their songs for starters. By that I mean not everybody has to play every note they can all at once. And they use their voices as an additional instrument in a lot of songs. If you go through their entire discography you won't find two songs that sound the same so it's hard to pinpoint exactly how they're doing it. And that's with 46 original songs so far and they're back in the studio (more or less) working on new material now.
Hey Beer'o!! Dull Knives the best 3 minutes in rock! This is the performance that Lzzy Hale saw and said she wanted to tour with The Warning. Two years later they did 2 summer tours with Halestorm in 2022!
(De)Tour was an all day virtual concert to help venues struggling during the pandemic. Ringo Starr and Lzzy Hale were just two of the many participants. It was this performance that got Lzzy Hale interested in taking them on tour which she did in 2022. The Warning was introduced for this clip by Jason Flom, the CEO of Lava Records. A video of the full show is available under (DE)TOUR - Presented by Morrison Hotel Gallery. It's on the Rolling Live Studios channel.
