The room definitely matters. I always book swim-ups if the resort has them. Trying to find lounge chairs at the pool is a hassle. My wife and I spend at least 1/3 of our time at a resort in the swim-up just lounging in our own chairs or sitting in the water. I have no worries about trying to fight for space with other people. We haven't stayed in a non-swim-up yet, but if we do, I'm likely going to be booking a higher end room with better amenities over a basic room. Money saved isn't always the best deal.

    Hi Vanessa,
This is a video that I will definitely revist. What sets you apart is your authenticity and HONESTY. Travel insurance is a must for peace of mind, and yes, you will want to spend time in your room. I learned that the hard way. There is nothing like returning to a clean, beautiful, and quiet room. Book the deal, not destination is another tip I never thought off along with not booking too far in advance. Fantastic video, Vanessa. Thank you🎉!.

Just want to add a few things that you didn’t take into account on the drink packages on cruises. The packages also include nonalcoholic drinks to. So you want a latte or 2 in the morning that cost. You want fresh squeezed orange juice that cost. You want soda that cost on most cruise lines. I also recommend getting a bottle or two of water when going to shore and you guessed it those cost too. All of which are covered by most if not all drinks packages. So the number of alcoholic beverages aren’t as high as you said, but you are right do the math to see if math makes sense. Other reasons people might pick a drinks package: if the math is close then you can pay for your drinks on a different billing cycle than your extras on the cruise, you can try something new if you don’t like it get something different doesn’t cost you more, and here is sneaky one I drink more on a cruise and traveling I have an extra latte in morning and OJ which I normally don’t have either. I end up having a soda, bottled water, and a glass of wine with lunch which normally I would only have the soda. With the drinks package I can make these choices and not spend half the trip worrying about the bill at the end or that I cheated myself on the experience.
I agree with you do the math, but I think you forgot a few of the variables in the equation.

Great video as always! We are in the process of getting global entry. 🎉 Totally agree with you about insurance! Also, your channel is the best for tips and reviews. I’ve been to two and soon to be three places in the Caribbean that you have reviewed and we have LOVED our trips. I don’t make a move without a Vanessa review. 😊

Love your content!!! We are going on a cruise, and in order to do it, we booked 2 interior rooms (connected) just to save money. My daughter and I are in one and hubby and son in other. We also did this so we only had to buy 1 drink package. 🤫 I'm not a big drinker at all, so I was NOT going to be MADE to buy another just because my husband wanted one.

Thank you so much for this! Is Global Entry something that is worthwhile if you are not American? As a Canadian I’m looking for ways to avoid TSA when flying in/out or making connections in the USA 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

And "Global Entry", is that just an American thing?

Hi Lizzy, I've personally never needed Google Translate, but I've heard other people say they've had great success with it. And yes, Global Entry is a US Customs and Border Protection Program for expedited arrival. Hope this helps!

Since you're not judging. I have 2 bottles of champagne at breakfast then it's off to the pool for bloody Cesar's until lunch. At lunch is 3 beers. Back to the pool for mudslides with banana. Dinner is 6 to 8 gin and tonics. Evening entertainment could be whatever.

Some advice for the drinks package on a cruise, this works if you book 2 cabins like one for kids one for adults but a joining. Since everyone in the 1 cabin over 21 must get the drinks package, you put one adult in a cabin with the minor children then that one adult gets the drink package, then you can share your drinks. Also they don't care where everyone actual sleeps.

Love it! I agree with everything you said especially about the room. Sometimes things don't go well and it rains on your vacation or you get sick the first couple of days in. At least if you have a nice room you don't feel like a prisoner trapped in a cell. Also about insurance people don't understand that a lot of insurance especially Medicare is useless outside the U.S. I always get evacuation insurance. I always check a bag. Yeah, I can distill my stuff down to a carry on bag and then be miserable all week OR I can pay the $60 and have everything I need and feel comfortable. There are so many people on their travel channels on UA-cam with these how to pack for the carryon only trip. Then you see the video they make of their trip and they are wearing the same shirt the entire week PLEASE!

Wanted to add one tip. Most people won't agree. Say you take a trip every year. Each year you only have enough money to do it real bare bones staying in less than you would like in quality and eating at fast food restaurants. Instead of taking one trip a year on the 5th year take a staycation and save that money and use it to add to the next 4 years so you can raise up the quality of your experience. You will enjoy your trips so much more because I believe vacations are a time to live a little better than you normally do. That's what makes it special.

Hi Vanessa, my wife and I are hoping to take 3 boys who have never traveled before, 2 16yr Olds and a 12 old, to Veradero in Oct, mainly because it's budget friendly, could I get your opinion on which would be the best resorts to look at. Thanks

Hii Vanessa!! As I’m sure I’ve mentioned before, if I don’t book 12 to 18 months out, I will never get a loft suite for half price on the Oasis class ships, which are the only ones we travel on. If I waited until six or even three months out, it would be more than double the price or they would be sold out completely. So there are situations where you can wait and book spontaneously, but if you’re looking for something specific, you should just grab it while it’s there and usually that will be the best price. That being said, some of these tips are really good advice and there are some I might think about incorporating. Your insight is very helpful!❤️✈️🛳️

You said it Vanessa global is the best as far as the drink package i see it like this I’m at the pool by 9 am if I only have one drink an hour until about 6pm then a few glasses of wine with dinner. Then we usually hit the night club I can break even easily add in stupid coffees it’s well worth it and believe me we don’t get sloppy

Definitely agree on several points...room category is very important to us. Some of our favorite times of the day at home and on vacation are coffee on the deck in the morning and a drink on the deck in the evening. Also, global entry is awesome. We flew into Ft Lauderdale one time, landed with two other planes, there were 300-400 people waiting in line and there were literally less than 10 people in the global entry lines. We applied as soon as we got home!
