Worth noting iRacing released an update a few hours after this race, part of it was tire parameter changes for this car. I don't know if they increased the wear of the tires or what, they did fix some other stuff relating to some setup shenaniganry apparently but not really related to anything in this vid.
Absolutely blows that this track is getting replaced with a short track. Maybe it sucks for modern stock cars but on NR2003 it's great fun. There's still Michigan, but as a NASCAR noob I heard that the modern Michigan sucks.
I remember autoclub sucking for a long time til the track surface wore out enough. Unfortunately we've hit that point in the cycle where the track is due for a resurface which will ruin the racing there again. Michigan will get to the point where it's good again.
tell me about it, done like 2 races and i still cant find if mid line or high line is the best, i can sit there and go from back to near the front in just a few laps from the high line and nobody could really pass me on the bottom if i was near the wall
I love pretty much everything that iRacing is doing these days. Multi groove racing and starting to see a pattern of giving people a choice between running a series with a fixed setup or open. fixed or open gives people the choice of whichever they prefer. The only thing that I think needs updated now is the Silver Crown car. Make it look the way it does in real life now and throw them on some paved short tracks and a few dirt tracks.
At 44:21 you can see how the damage model is misbehaving in this build. Been causing game crashes for lots of people. Wiped out all but one driver in one of the races this week.
THuff ran through the side of me in a race and yelled at me for like 20 mins post race. EBox washes up three wide into him and it's cool. I need to start a youtube channel so he doesn't throw a tantrum when I race him next time.
You can tell he was holding it in with the persistent replies instead of just an "all good". He thought about it and didn't want to be That Guy on YT lol.
Hey Matt, I searched your channel on youtube because Ive been thinking about/jonesin over getting back into the sim racing stride. I havent run in a number of years. I still remember the good ol days of the LMP/GT1/GT2 race series, remember when it was EPIC?? Huge participation, like sometimes there was even more Fords than corvettes! I raced with you a few times when we would organize the time slot for the best participation.. man.. GOOD times. Like 2012 right? Well I stopped probably in like, 2014. My setup, if I ran tmrw, wouild be a Clubsport V1 wheel, Clubsport Pedals(no clutch thing, no dampers, just classic clubsport pedals). Would you say iRacing is the best racing experience still? Id have to assume so, it always was. Theres a ton of new cars Id love to run.. thinkin I might. How would you compare iRacing now toback then? Maybe a video on how its evolved? Anyway. Good video man, enjoy the racing!
It's what it was, but more. Some of the participation issues have been a bit resolved through more members (IMSA series has HUUUUGE participation pretty much all the time), some of the physics issues have been resolved. At the end of the day it's still iRacing, but it definitely has changed enough over that many years that you'd basically be playing something new even if you aren't actually new.
Alright, we now get socks. Not just any socks, but non matching pair! All black on the right foot, black with gray toes on the left foot. :D Good racing is good racing. Pre or post patch. Huffner tried to pass you for 15 laps.
It's way more interesting to watch sim racing videos of cars from racing series at tracks where they don't actually run or don't run anymore, such as this one. How about a Brands Hatch Indy?
I only have very basic knowledge of oval racing, but as far as I know, it's when a track allows for multiple lines (the high and the low line), as opposed to a single, always more effective, "ideal" line like you have in road racing. It makes the racing more interesting because having different lines means having different strategies in terms of tire conservation etc I think.
Being smart seems to do more to get you to the front than anything. Any time you know you can skip a pit stop, you are putting yourself in a better position, and most of those guys just didn't see it.

Can't wait to see you racing the old school nascar cup cars, and hopefully more dirt racing
So when is rain coming to iracing and make road and street course racing more fun
I noticed the name on the chassis there. nice details.
Love seeing the wreck being your fault and apologizing. You have preached it and got to see it in a video. Love the increased uploads.

It's so nice to see empty just enjoying himself
great video and great race, I really enjoyed the breakdown of your incident at the end, very insightful
NiS was so fun in Atlanta searching for the fastest line, really felt like the pros!

The spotter gave a three wide call just before matt washed up but he was so focused on the line he failed to hear it
By the time the spotter called 3 wide the line was set. You may go through the corners at 210 MPH but that doesn't mean it's nimble at those speeds!
"Math is hard when you're trying to race"
Friggin' *mood*

The Silver Crown isn't just a case of not looking right, that thing in iRacing is a literal abortion of a car that existed for about ten months lol

There need to be more oval races in Indycar!
Nothing in motorsport compares.
I love the "braking sock".
Me too but the red and green socks were EPIC!!!
I was actually surprised that we can change more than just brake bias now in fixed races!

@@TacticalCardboard My dude, thanks for the reply man! Sounds great!!
I bet the DW12s would race like the insane 2015 Indy race at Auto Club
hey, that’s me in the #18! Had a feeling there would be a video going up :)
Man I love running these cars! You given me something to try with Fontana.
I will always miss Indycar at Fontana, best speedway racing the series had alongside Chicagoland
Multi grove? iRacing? WHAT YEAR IS IT?!?!?!?

My socks almost never match. People ain't seeing my socks, so why does it matter!?

Haven’t noticed the pedal cam before!
It was a recent comeback
10:30 laps to go are on your wheel :D
what type of car is that safety car? is it just a generic pseudo-Audi?
It's a generic car. It's a Grand Theft Auto mixture of an Audi and a Kia in a weird way.
How do you check your mileage?
On the steering wheel display at the bottom in the orange box, the one labeled MPG is exactly that, your miles per gallon. :)
Fair derp there matt, i didn't see it as well lol
crikey look at the wheel bouncing off the inside and outside wall @ 44:25
Thrilling finish!
This was intense!
The foot cam could be a static image for this race and we wouldn't notice de difference.
Looking good!
What is multi-groove? Maybe someone can enlighten me!
It's where there's multiple grooves

40:30 I see you're trying to avoid saying "this guy was the guy that we were... inside of..."
So cool
Hope that number 20 car doesn't race in VR
Empty Bahhhhhhx
Foot reveal
1:10, so, for reference, Kinda like that Atlanta vid, eh?
LOL no. In Atlanta you can pass on the outside easily even if someone hugs the inside.
Indy fixed might be fixed lol

If you didn't want to wash up into that guy, you should've just ripped the E-brake. Duhhh
This race was so dam American..It made me physically sick.
