Very honest opinion. BDS is a good option but not anymore for a middle class. It is only for upper middle class and above. Or people who are second or third generation in dentistry.
I will work hard , try to do smart work , will do the best for patients and I hope it I will make it for sure. I am positive about BDS . We just need to figure out the present problem and have a vision ! ✊

Bds is best but saturation by private clgs who are giving degree in 20+ lakhs. In Jammu kashmir there are two government dental colleges and in every year about 100 get admission through neet and among these hundreds some again go for neet and crack it and got mbbs. But i had seen average stds are also going for bds ,this has made it worthy less. Since dentists take care of mouth particularly and obviously the jobs will be less. And talking about fee in govt dental clg i think when i will complete my bds total expenditure would be 1lakh including books etc. ~Me Studying bds in GDC srinagar jandk.
Its true situation..... most of the dental college hardly teaches anything .. just print the degree and give u ... after that u r all on your own .. most depressing branch ... dont ever think of pursuing bds after 12th .. after 5 yrs spending lakhs u will only feel cheated and deprived

Sir everyone is struggling in their own tide wether it is pharmacy, nursing, or paramedic. I too thought like you that other than BDS every graduate is doing well,but to my surprise the answer is no. We need to follow our passion and don't need to think about income at the beginning,just need to focus in one question wether we'll able to do well in that particular field. Dentistry is costlier branch , anyone pursuing it need to know that they need lot of investment in future to push themselves and maintain themselves in this area.
I don't think so....in other fields specially engineering there are huge options. Even mbbs has a huge demand. Dentistry is a very narrow field with almost non-existent options. Plus one needs to invest a lot. The return in dentistry is very low. Even a teacher from a govt school earns over 60k per month and needs ZERO investment. Dentistry has inherent financial loss in it.
I know many engineers who got salary 10-15k at beginning and it took 4-5 years to get 30-40k. In this pandemic situation many private firm engineers were given pink slip. In our case scenario is different my senior after 3-4 years of practice are earning well like 1lakh per month and at the beginning they hardly manage to get their rent. Dentistry is very slow field but not dark my freind!

Bds curriculum is not enough to make you a good clinician. Dci does not allow ug student to do Posterior tooth rct and caries are common in posterior teeth, so from where these students will learn Rct?? These days college does not teach you about Fpd, Transalveolar extraction and posterior tooth rct. If u dont know these things, then it is impossible for anyone to start their own clinic. Very few junior resident posts are there for dentist in medical colleges and district hospital, by some how if u get into it but these places do not have infrastructure for doing rct. Then, from where these people will learn ?? Govt along with Dci gave permission to new colleges without upgrading Bds curriculum and even failed to monitor these colleges way of functioning. Somehow, Goverment is responsible for all these problems which they have created.

Forget abou job security. Even Bds curriculum not designed in proper manner. As per dci guidelines Ug students are not allowed to do posterior tooth rct and Fpd , this is the only rule which every private college with PG seats follow religiously. In short, even after passing BDS, we are not competent or confident enough to open our own clinic.

I am from a very poor family...i got a govt seat in RIMS( central govt hospital) and my parents had to borrow money even for the 35k admission fees..Then ,i watched this video when i was about to give my first year university exam 2 yrs back n got very demotivated and failed in biochem n physio....Nevertheless i passed in the supplementary exm and got to second yr...bt got too demotivated whenever i see mbbs students with their superiority complex..On the first day of second yr,i attended only the first period class n ran to hostel n started preparing for NEET...i never set foot to dental college ever in second yr...luckily i got mbbs with 1 mark just above the cutoff...now i m happy but mad respect n tears whenever i see fellow bds students hanging on..wishing u all the best!!!❤

I get depressed watching these videos and whenever I open books these things pop in my head that how much ever I study it will be very difficult to earn despite the extensive hardwork I do. Srry sir bt there r different aspects of a particular thing. Infact,the highest paid doctor in my city is a dentist. Nd apart from all other things,i think it is the skill that u acquire along with patient management is the key when it comes to running a dental clinic .No doubt that investment cost in clinic may be high bt u can never generalize that there will not be any good return. And doing these type of courses from private college is not beneficial bcz they actually don't have that amount of patient intake,so students get less exposure. Nd to get gov. college you definitely need to work hard. Hardwork is the key thing in every profession.I believe that if you r the best in your profession then definitely no profession is bad U need to work hard to stand apart. Hotel management nd fashion designing are not so easy as r thought to be.Bcz i have friends nd seniors from all different professions,so i can tell this with surity. No! Please dont opt for BDS! There's no scope! Payscale is 1000- 15000 max as fresher. Or if you have work experience or reference then Max 20k. yesterday I received a message from swiggy! Its so funny! Saying they need delivery boy with the pay scale of 25-30k per month. And look at us! BDS in India is crazy! Your relatives and friends may consider you as doctor! But in reality your value is 0! To Establish yourself as a dentist, either learn more skills..have patience of 3-5 years or move abroad. And if you are 12th passout, then better find some courses outside India. Phsycology or something. You will never regret that
In india that's the problem sir.. we don't blame the authorities rather we blame ourselves. The main culprit for this entire situation of dentistry is DCI and IDA. who asked them to give approval for that many colleges and seats without knowing the realty? Just because of this shit .. passed out graduate are paid only 10,000/- and even the clinics are everywhere around. atleast authorities should wake up now.. and close all the dental colleges for life time. Then the existing dental doctors will have some future. They can reopen when the situation is normalized again. Only this can save the future of dentistry.

The faculty and the facilities are very good. The type of materials and machines that are provided in the college are very good and expensive materials for students to learn. Discipline is a must in the college. Patient inflow is not as much as you get in a govt college but it is enough to learn. The professors are very good and helpful

MDS do check the vacancies of Assam. Recently govt of Assam published an advertisement for 42 posts of lectures for Requirement in Government Dental college Assam. I am a BDS and working as a JR in one of the government medical college and my salary is 42000/ which is fair enough for a modest life in Assam.

Especially in Assam, lots of vacancies arises in NHM, in medical colleges and also semi govt organisations like Assam cancer care foundation ( joint venture of Assam govt and tata trust). And regarding private practice everyone is doing good here except those employed in extreme remote areas under NHM. My private practice is upto the mark, I place implants, CD s, do Root canals almost on regular basis which suggested that I have not said goodbye to my advanced dental skills yet!

Earlier I was working under NHM but I quit that job due to the location, which affects my private practice. I will again reapply and if I get posted in nearby areas I will choose it else I have the option of Assam cancer care foundation. At last if nothing goes good I have my own private practice which will be much more better if I could give full time. The motto of sharing this doesn't mean that I am boasting off . Rather I am sharing my experience so that no dentist feel anxious or being deprived. We have lots of opportunities. So look around and be positive. Bloom where you are planted ✌

@@khathijakubra1953 Yes once you’ve done PG in Max Facial surgery then neither DCI or any other body stops you from performing Hair transplant. In fact any surgeon who has been trained to operate on scalp in his surgical residency can perform a hair transplant . This includes plastic surgeons , dermatologists , maxillofacial surgeons , ENT surgeons , general surgeons , craniofacial surgeons etc .

Srry sir bt there r different aspects of a particular thing. Infact,the highest paid doctor in my city is a dentist. Nd apart from all other things,i think it is the skill that u acquire along with patient management is the key when it comes to running a dental clinic .No doubt that investment cost in clinic may be high bt u can never generalize that there will not be any good return. And doing these type of courses from private college is not beneficial bcz they actually don't have that amount of patient intake,so students get less exposure. Nd to get gov. college you definitely need to work hard. Hardwork is the key thing in every profession.I believe that if you r the best in your profession then definitely no profession is bad
U need to work hard to stand apart.
Hotel management nd fashion designing are not so easy as r thought to be.Bcz i have friends nd seniors from all different professions,so i can tell this with surity.

In india that's the problem sir.. we don't blame the authorities rather we blame ourselves. The main culprit for this entire situation of dentistry is DCI and IDA. who asked them to give approval for that many colleges and seats without knowing the realty? Just because of this shit .. passed out graduate are paid only 10,000/- and even the clinics are everywhere around. atleast authorities should wake up now.. and close all the dental colleges for life time. Then the existing dental doctors will have some future. They can reopen when the situation is normalized again. Only this can save the future of dentistry.

The faculty and the facilities are very good. The type of materials and machines that are provided in the college are very good and expensive materials for students to learn. Discipline is a must in the college. Patient inflow is not as much as you get in a govt college but it is enough to learn. The professors are very good and helpful

Recently govt of Assam published an advertisement for 42 posts of lectures for Requirement in Government Dental college Assam.
I am a BDS and working as a JR in one of the government medical college and my salary is 42000/ which is fair enough for a modest life in Assam.
Not all can get govt jobs which is extremely limited. And if at all one gets a govt job then say goodbye to advanced dental skills.
Jr ship is permanenet?? Its only for some years after completeing jr ship..you r thrown to the normal hard sitution...opem clinc..in dentistry i know many professor who passed from.gvt clg..they are not payed...bas kuch i din ka aram h boss jbtk jrship h aapka.
@@ayanchakraborty3559 the scenario is a bit different in northeast India. Especially in Assam, lots of vacancies arises in NHM, in medical colleges and also semi govt organisations like Assam cancer care foundation ( joint venture of Assam govt and tata trust).
And regarding private practice everyone is doing good here except those employed in extreme remote areas under NHM.
My private practice is upto the mark, I place implants, CD s, do Root canals almost on regular basis which suggested that I have not said goodbye to my advanced dental skills yet!

Earlier I was working under NHM but I quit that job due to the location, which affects my private practice. I will again reapply and if I get posted in nearby areas I will choose it else I have the option of Assam cancer care foundation. At last if nothing goes good I have my own private practice which will be much more better if I could give full time.
The motto of sharing this doesn't mean that I am boasting off . Rather I am sharing my experience so that no dentist feel anxious or being deprived. We have lots of opportunities. So look around and be positive. Bloom where you are planted ✌

@@khathijakubra1953 Yes once you’ve done PG in Max Facial surgery then neither DCI or any other body stops you from performing Hair transplant.
In fact any surgeon who has been trained to operate on scalp in his surgical residency can perform a hair transplant . This includes plastic surgeons , dermatologists , maxillofacial surgeons , ENT surgeons , general surgeons , craniofacial surgeons etc .
