Sir at this point, only mbbs or pharma is the only option for bio students, bds will never become a good career again and eventually govt will reduce the funding and allow only those who have done dentistry from foreign institutes.
About the respect of professors part, neet ug students who passed scored almost good enough marks in neet to get a mbbs seat but missed it due to reservation, consider bds professors as something of less value, less knowledgeable and more incompetent, thats the general idea they have. They consider bds to be of lesser value, this notion probably comes from the fact that bds doctors have either less frequency of patients or less patients in general compared to some mbbs doctor working at govt hospital

I am a Dental Surgeon from Assam. I have graduated in 2019. I personally feel that BDS is a very good branch and a most needed course in a health care sector. But a country like India where there is a big zero in the name of oral health awareness among people its scope is almost NILL. Discrimination were created at that time when Dentistry was being separated from Medicine. People doesn't give the respect and honour what we actually deserve like other Doctors, apart from this inspite of hard work all the day in the clinic we can't earn a handsome amount of money. That is the sad reality of Dentistry in India. One major reason of unemployment among Dentists is lack of unity among Dentists. My message to new medical aspirant is that...If you realy want to get into a medical field then try to crack NEET and Get MBBS and if somehow you are unable to get MBBS then you can go for BAMS, which scope are rising day by day and you will easily get a Private Hospital job atleast with no investment. @@dradityapandey5821 Bro BPT karne ke bad bhi govt job nhi ha..but ha ajkl private hospitals me physiotherapist ko appoint krte ha. To ye chiz accha ha..but khudka setup krne ke liye Dental set up se bhi jyada cost padega. So explore about it more before going for BPT. All the Best👍

Hai Dr i wish you a very happy new year, as medical colleges numbers had increased than dental colleges, people had chances of getting seats in medical colleges, i found that medical students are getting ample jobs especially govt jobs option as well as private practice with minimal investment

Its sad the state of dentists in India. That's why those dentists giving overseas licensing exams find that Indians make up the maximum no. of candidates of all countries. And then the failure rate also is the highest among Indians. And a few dentists out of those who managed to pass with rote learning end up being bad dentists in Western countries and that gives a bad name to Indian dentists. A lot of employers are hesitant to employ poorly educated Indian dentists.

Sir there is no scope in dentistry even after MDS. Even after spending lakhs and lakhs of money we still need more to set up a clinic. And nobody really wants to come to a BDS for procedures now a days. Are BDS hi to hai type attitude.. we are not even considered as doctors. MBBS IS THE ONLY BEST OPTION IN MEDICAL FIELD.
Correct “mbbs is the best option “ but bds is no less be positive you will attract positivity and if you will expect someone to give validation that you’re a doctor not a dentist then neha you will never like this profession first accept the fact that you’re a dentist things will change. And yes there is lot of investment required to earn money and i must tell you that MBBS fee is also that much high as compared to BDS and even MDS. So change your mindset and be positive it will help you in longer run and you will feel light when you accept you’re a dentist ♥️
And being a dentist is not a shame
Dear i am a private practitioner and the only degree i have is bds and a (couple of fellowships as a part of cde), and trust me I don’t feel i need any other degree to flourish my practice. With the same degree you can perform a surgery as small as mobile tooth extractions to something as complex as nerve lateralisation, sinus lifts, gbr etc. Dentistry needs a lot of continuing education, dedication, passion and yes most importantly money( hell lot of money). We do procedures, ‘sardi khasi bukhar ki dawaiyan nahi likhte’ and procedures needs instruments and a decent setup. Another thing which becomes very important is entrepreneurship, you cannot run a clinic without good administrative and marketing skills. Dentistry has no jobs and only option available is private practice. Choose dentistry only if you have all the above qualities including a strong bank balance.

Sir very well explained everyone including me also want good office,handsome salary ,car big house on a next month but it is very hard to earn money and people forget that learning is a continus procedure even after passing bds or mds .If we do jot put value in someone life how can we expect money from him or her. Plus we as a dentist do not respect our profession our colleagues. Today i m very happy that i m a dentist and i try to put my 100% in treatment tough it is just simple scaling it makes the pt. understand that someone is trying to make my smile beautiful. This pays me more but yes after a long time

sir ji mei 19 years ka hu ab i think i should take bds now becoz after 10 year i will graduate + 3year training ... and 2 year private clinic start, i think that time bds would be able to earn 1 lakh per month easy like 20 years before. do you think im thinking correct or just leave this for BAMS. i guess i am true becoz nowadays everyone is doing bams and maybe bams would end up like bds after 15 year and bds would be back isnt it ?? kyuki maharashtra mei 53 BAMS private college the 2021 mei and 2022 mei 71 hogye you know na ye mujhe same BDS ki tarah lag tha hei

Exactly right sir… paying 10k to a young BDS is itself v difficult as I’m only not sure how much flow there will be in my clinic… and half of them knows v lil or basic works…
While I remember I assisted a senior Maxfac in so many OTs and his clinic for 1.5yrs and learned so much and then got into MDS.. it helped me a lot

@@kiranpatil8453 i don't think so, during these times, mbbs grads are also doing mba, because obviously reservations taking up all pg seats, thus employers prefer mbbs grads over bds grads. Bds grads have literally no value today.

Pak me 80k to intern ko milta or after internship 1.5 lac gov ya private hospital me pay hota hai same like mbbs ik mbbs or bds dono ki pay same hoti gov me jo cahhea private ho ya army me direct captain dr lag jate

There are no jobs after doing bds,mds. You have to spend lacs of money in opening clinic still no guarantee of earning money.if you do bams u can get job in PHC with salary of atleast 30k. I did my bds and have no job...I opened my clinic this month but still have no good response....after doing bds u have hope only from clinic...dont go for bds..

Bro I am also a Dental Surgeon. To be very Frank don't go for BDS. Try to get MBBS which is best, but if you are unable to get it then go for BAMS, which scope are good nowadays.
