I’m going this up coming Friday, I’ll be fishing it for abt 3 days hopefully I get sumthin
I haven't ever fished Diaz Lake because usually there in the summer. But I love seeing the snow on the mountains. Thanks for the video.
That area was a marshland until the 1872 Lone Pine Earthquake struck, raising a vertical scarp and a lateral displacement, that the little creek and springs then turned into Diaz Lake. Earthquake struck on March 26, 1872, and killed something like 26 people in Lone Pine, and they are buried in the cemetery nearby. We've stopped to fish there for a hour or so every year, on our way up to Bishop and Mammoth, very hit and miss, and the water always looks like chocolate milk. No fishing in July and August due to the high heat on the shallow lake. Someone there told me that all the trout die during the summer because of the hot water. Near the nearby creeks, there are ancient Native American village sites, some with petroglyphs, dating back 3,000 - 13,000 years ago, to the last Ice Age.

🦨 The ever looming threat of the skunk at Diaz Lake! 😂
“A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work.” Good stuff 🤙🏽
The Truth!! 😂😂
What rod and reel do you use?
Daiwa Presso 7'6" UL and a Okuma California 7'6" UL.
I always stop by there on the way back, never caught anything 😂
It's beaten up many anglers over the years. 🥊 😂
I've never have tried fishing Diaz Lake. Interesting that the lake is only 6-8 feet.
Yeah very very shallow lake. That's why it gets to 80° in the summer
How’s the sand traps
Updates on those soon👀
What other fish are in that lake
cat, bass, carp
A few years ago that water was green. Now it's milky. Why trout ? Why?
2 years ago it was going through drought and it was pretty low so there was a really big algae bloom and a lot of weed growth. Last year it had a big comeback year. The Milky color is actually normal for the lake because it's very shallow in any kind of wind. Turns up the bottom.
That makes sense. Thank u for that. Happy fishing!!!
